Haha, nice, but i think ill stick with lololol for now. Nothing against MS, but lololol works just fine.

And about all the software bugs in MS products, i believe that they have less than most software out there. We just believe that MS products have lots of holes because people bother to actually find them. I mean, what good is a bug in an obscure browser than 15 people use? In any case, they can and should do a better job, but im not complaining. It will hopefully make my lots of money .

If your looking for somethin to hold you over, you could always try Zelda: Omega. Its a hack i made a while back when i first started rom hacking. Its not spectacular, but its pretty cool. Its got like 4 dungeons to it, so it should take a while. You can probably find it in the forums somewhere. If you cant, maybe PM me.

It says whats in a chest on the bottom bar of a dungeon room editor right in between of the Starting Location info and the Display info. You have to click on a chest to show whats in it. To change what is in a chest, you press "+" on your num pad or "\". You should really check out Orochimaru's complete guide to Hyrule Magic, or your probably gonna lose your mind.

Yup, Omega was my first hack ever. Not bad for a first hack, but compared to what im doing now, its absolutly nothing.

And yes, when hacking zelda 3, backups are your friend. I have probably over 500 zelda roms on my harddrive, and ive cleaned it out recently. Just keep up to date backups whenever you do something, and save often... Ive made the mistake of not saving till i was done, and it crashed on me causing me to lose over 4 hours work... more than once. Very frustrating.

Anyways, good luck.

Ahh, the topic of sleep. My favourite.

Well, all nighters are a regular occurance for me. I do em mostly cause i need to get work done that i didnt do that day cause of my annoying family.

Longest time awake: 40 hours. Not insane, but its respectable.

What have i discovered? The first 16 hours are a breeze. Between 16-18 hours, theres a major crash. You have no energy, and its tough to concentrate. that lasts maybe 3 hours. After that, your good for at least 10 hours. Longer if you can stay active, but your in a kinda daze. Almost if youve been drinking. Another crash at about 30 hours, and then its the same routine. If you can make it to like 35, your not even tired anymore. Welcome to insomnia. You have to actually try to go to sleep. Youll keep getting that crash every 10-15 hours, but its not as bad each time. You do however feel like crap, and cant really think straight unless you get into the zone. However, ive found that i do some of my best work in the zone with no sleep. I can concentrate extremely well, but only on 1 thing, and if i get sidetracked at all, its all over. Anyways, thats my personal experience of sleep.

I tend to sleep a lot given the chance, but i dont usually get any more than 7 hours a night on week days. I might get upwards of 12 on weekends though.

Ahahahahahah that guy with the rice krispy square... funny shit. That reminds me of the time i was at a sleep over, and my friend fell asleep so we decided to manually feed him some chips in his sleep. Getting them into his mouth was tough, but once they were in, he would chew and swallow.... it was HILARIOUS! And, we also fed him mints. He would crunch those. When he woke up and realized what we were doing... he just finished the mouthful and went back to sleep.

No, ive never tried it, but its not out of the question. Ive had opportunities, but i had to drive at the time, or somethin else. I dunno, id probably do it if i were drinking at the time.

Yeah, there is gonna be some new material real soon. Look for it this week for sure. I know ive said that many times, but i mean it this time .

As for all the zelda hacks... i dunno, i might compile something, but Omega is the only completed hack out there.

Link to it: http://legend-hacks.pure-text.com/ZeldaOmega.ips

If you need help patching it, refer to one of the guides in the forums.

Enjoy

Nah man, Omega is just a small hack that i made years ago. Its not perfect by any means, but just completing it alone was quite the feat at the time. As for why you couldnt patch it, not sure. Probably wrong version of the rom. Maybe PM me for the version number.

As for the above post, if you cant enjoy it, thats cool, its got its fair share of bugs. It seems like i may have uploaded a test version. I think there is a debugged version, but ill have to check for it. Ill post it when i find it for those that want to try it.

Cause at this point its really not worth my time. This game is just embarassing in terms of quality compared to what i build now, so i would really have to remake the whole damn game to be satisfied with it. Probably take a couple months too. Really not worth the time when i could spend it making something completely new.

Yeah, to give you an idea of where it is at, all the dungeons, the overworlds, and most of the sidequests have been completed. That is however, only half the battle. Making it all work together is an enourmous task, and much more challenging than just the content creation. Its comming along though.

PSP sucks anyways. Why anyone would want one to begin with? I dont know, but now with a DS HD on the horizon, media players and such, im sure the homebrew scene is gonna pick up really quickly. Just buy a freakin DS if you want MKDS.

Heres an image of what it will look like while editing a rom.

This is not actually editing a rom. Just a mock up of what its going to look like. Thanks to Giangurgola for this.

Sorry for the huge images, but it was necessary to get a good feeling for what it really looks like.

1) No, there is no easy way to increase the cap. There would be significant work involved.

2) You need to look at the enemy tilesets at the top beside the room pallets and tilesets. Its called enemy gfx or soemthing. That denotes what enemies will look normal in that room, and can easily be changed. Refer to the Hyrule Magic guide for what enemies use what gfx #, or just use an original rom for reference.

Try IDA pro. Its a professional dissasembler with support for a lot of different instruction sets. I use it all the time in my job, and its pretty good/accurate although it does make mistakes when it comes to labeling variables args. I believe you can download a free demo from their website : http://www.datarescue.com/idabase/idadown.htm
