Teddylot: I thought people weren't meant to fly.
Zap: They aren't people. Teddylot: ... I see ... actually, no I don't ... it's pretty dark. Teddylot nonchalantly took the lead and dashed through the hole in the wall. Being skinny and of the two-foot variety really helped ... even being just under five feet and skinny was good enough for Zap to crawl through the hole. After making his way through and brushing the dust and dirt from his sweatshirt, Zap found himself standing on a drier path that led further into the labyrinth. Teddylot: GUESS WHAT DUKES!!! He spoke loudly to make sure that the others on the other side of the wall could here him. Teddylot: ... nevermind ... I just wanted to say that. |

Teddylot: I have rope? I have dental floss. *scurries his mitten hands through his pockets* Oh, and I have rope, too ... with a grappler, too. No way.
Teddylot promptly pulled the rope + grappler (+9 against Ogres) from his magical pockets. He continued to pull on the rope though ... it was a long rope. |

We interrupt this very interesting, very active, very watched program to bring you this brief, yet deadly-important announcement brought to you by Lunesta ... it's some sort of drug.
Announcer: We lied ... that is all. We now return you to the thing you were just watching ... reading ... ------ Teddylot: ... *drinks some punch* |

Wonder if it'd work on the brink of death ... like after a car crash or something ...
Or, you know, if it just so happens that you get attacked by some evil menace bent on taking over the world ... Still useful though. |

Every time I hop in the car to drive to school and whatnot ... I hear "The Christmas Song."
I hear it at least twice a day ... every day ... Good thing I love the song ... and Christmas music in general. And thank goodness Nat King Cole had that pure as velvet voice. ... so dreamy. |

I have been making a lot of art lately. Projects varying from three weeks to two days. It's just I haven't been posting them up as of late 'cause I have to take slides and junk ... well, you know how it goes.
However, I have just scanned in and finished one of my latest pieces. If you know me well, then you know I enjoy comic books. Well, I've finally dipped my toes into making my own pieces of sequential art ... too bad it sucks ... and you get to see it. Not titled ... actual dimensions are around 12 x 10 ... and it kind of sucks. Well, it was my first try, but I still have a lot of improvement to get done. Namely ... everything. In truth, I was more concerned with the character designs ... that I was happy with. However, I still need to work on story, storytelling, composition ... stuff like that. I've also found that I'm not too fond of Black and White, so next time ... color. There are also a bunch of technical errors I've pinpointed and a bunch of stuff wrong with the artwork in general. Eh ... I don't like it that much. It was an experiment though ... sooooo I'm not too concerned. By the end of the year, I'm hoping to have a huge series going along the same lines as the famed Webcomic, Copper. Man ... what a genius. Here's to hoping. All criticisms welcome ... and those who wish to burn me and shower me with some of their "don't do this ever again" comics will be praised. Note: ... my other stuff's much better in my opinion. They're just not comics. |

Teddylot: Am I the unluckiest pirate around or what?
Teddylot busted his oars ... or rather his crew did ... all the way over to island number 5. |

If you're a senior in high school and happen to be of the artistic variety, then you are most likely working on the same thing as I am at the moment ... a scholastics art or writing portfolio. In my case, I have two portfolios I'm working on: one for photography and one for art.
Although I do have a fairly extensive portfolio of work, when making a scholastics portfolio, it is wise, if you want to have a good chance of winning something, that all your pieces have a common theme ... if you want an example of what I'm talking about, then check out some of the past winners. So in my case, a lot of my good pieces were sent out of the mix due to their non-comformity with the better and more central pieces of my portfolio. My photography ended up with three pictures (even though I had an overabundance of pictures for an eight-piece portfolio). After a few weeks of work, I have four matted pieces along with a ton of retakes that my photo teacher and I will be going over soon. I should be set with that pretty soon, so I'm not too worried. Oh ... and the general topic I chose is student life. Or at least my perception of it. My art portfolio is a different story though ... actually, it's pretty similar, but buckle down and listen anyway. After the review, I ended up with four solid pieces out of eight (some still need a few tweaking like a new matt or some adjustments to make them eligible, but we'll sidestep that for now). However, it takes me a good long while for me to actually finish any kind of good art piece. The piece I'm about to show you just made it five. So I have to make three pieces in less than two weeks. ... murder. The general theme I have going is experimental mixes between photography and drawing, which leads into a mix between fantasy and reality ... and in this next piece's case, somewhere in between as well. If you remember one of the last pieces I showed off, The Project, that will be in my portfolio as well. Out of the three remaining pieces I have left to finish, two will have a photographic foreground and drawn background ... different from what I've been doing lately. The last one ... I'm really not too sure what I'm gonna do with it. The Scholastics Art and Writing Awards is a national (American) competition (possibly even international), so chances are that you've heard of it ... or may even be participating in it this year or have in years past ... or will ... who knows? Sooooooooooo ... this thread has a duel purpose. 1) Commentary and critique on my art piece that I just put up and 2) discussion of the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards. ... DISCUSS!!! Note: The process that chooses the winners of the art competition is as follows. It starts off with a regional competition, and from there, the porfolios that received a Gold Key (the highest award) are sent on to the next round for National judging in New York. From there, you're either give a Gold Key or Silver Key. Whoever gets one of the seven Gold Keys (at least two in art and two in photography, the other three go into whichever section has the better portfolios ... most often the art portfolios) gets $10,000 in scholarship money and whoever gets a Silver Key gets a $1,000 scholarship. |

Just a simple Teddylot sketch, is all. I actually used a tablet for this one making the number of art pieces I've made with a tablet a grand total of 'two.' |

Zap: ... a robot?
Teddylot: Let's throw rocks at it. Zap: Nononononononononononono ... No ... Nooooo. Let's lure it, so that we can catch it and study it. Teddylot: With rocks. Zap: I'm not much of a geologist, Teddylot. *cough* Although I did dabble in it a few years ago ... |

Actually ... he makes two cameos. One in the sketch layer ... the second in the last visible spoon reflection.
EDIT: And the art inconsistency is deliberate. (edited by Teddylot on 12-09-05 05:27 PM) |

Same here.
Usually, I have to get up on my own and early ... around 5:30 to get ready for school, but today I woke up after eight o'clock without knowing that school was canceled. I was a nervous wreck until I fell back asleep. |
