You blew the fuse. You can open it up and solder in a new one, bridge over it with a piece of wire (not recommended, that fuse is there for a reason), or send it back for repair anyway as Nintendo really doesn't seem to care about FlashMe. (And if it won't turn on, how will they know? )

See this is why I stopped doing silly things like putting SNES games in an N64 Gameshark. It generally doesn't result in anything good.

With great power comes great responsibility. A language with pointers versus one without them is like a motorcycle versus a bike - you can do things much faster with pointers, and some things you can't do without them (comparing to a bike: chasing a car, towing a big load), but it's more difficult to use properly, and screwing up causes much bigger problems.

Now, an interpreted language like Java is like riding a bike, except it's really a stationary bike being dragged along by some guy.

Posted on 02-15-07 02:58 AM, in just installed ubuntu -- my review. Link
My experiences with Ubuntu weren't as good. It doesn't like old/cheap hardware.

Desktop: black screen.
Laptop: No wifi. Every time I touch the touchpad or breathe too hard, it registers a mouse click - this is a hardware "feature" that can only be turned off by running a Windoze program in the background. (This isn't exactly an old/cheap laptop though, so what the heck)
Old computer (~700mhz CPU of some sort, something like 256MB RAM, cheapo PCI video card): Runs, but command line magic is required to get a serial mouse working. Very slow, particularly in drawing the GUI (the cheap video card at work). Severe keyboard issues; typing one character yields anywhere from zero to 200, making logging in almost impossible.

Yeah, Ubuntu isn't for old/cheap computers or Gateway MX7515 laptops, at least not without some tweaks.

Peoples' first ASM hacks tend to be pretty worthless on their own (mine was infinite HP in Pokémon Red unless you take enough damage to kill you in one hit ). The point of this hack was to practice ASM hacking and release the results to the public to see if anyone wanted to do something with it.

Heh, nice. I've managed to pull things like that before - I handed in a SMB1 graphics hack as an English assignment ("make a game involving Greek god[desse]s" - graphics hack, change "MARIO" to "ZEUS ", whee).

It almost seemed like an excuse to get a firmware update out right away. Makes me wonder if someone found an exploit. I heard no news of one though.

Well that's to be expected if he just got his X360. If not, then... :-/ I was the same with PS2, I got it, played it for a few days, then went back to my year-old Gamecube. My brother used it a lot though, so it wasn't a waste.

Nintendo certainly seemed to fall short on shipping to Canada. I didn't see any at all until the end of January, and my mom says she still hasn't.

No no no... .gbs is Game Boy music rips. You really can't just extract a minigame from a ROM, it's all one big executable file. You'd have to do a ton of ASM hacking and basically disassemble all the related code, then strip out unrelated things and reassemble it into a new ROM.

I'd say images attached to posts are better than scaled-down thumbnails of thumbnails with "click here to visit SomeStupidImageHost" scrawled over them and every one of them linking to the site in question, images that have been "removed due to excessive bandwidth usage" or expired, and especially images that are replaced with ads the first time you view them. If reminding someone that attached files should be related to the post doesn't stop them from attaching random images to every post, then perhaps their ability to post should be reconsidered.

Yes, nothing is quite as relaxing as watching a nice lightning storm. Sucks when they knock the power out when you're using the computer though, or flicker it on and off repeatedly and kill the power supply.

Haha, yeah, I did a few silly things like that. In one class I was in, there were 3 computers that were frequently used to type or research assignments. Trouble is, I'd get some assignment that required looking things up online, but the computers were constantly hogged up by people using MSN Messenger. Then one day, MSN just mysteriously stopped working on one of them... _¬

Also, their censor, despite being server-side, for some reason affected only IE. When they learned of this, they blocked all programs named firefox.exe from running. Needless to say, I wasn't bothered by those much.

Why don't you have a UPS then? If the storms are that bad you NEED one just to shut down your computer properly.

They cost money.
