WOAH! YOU made that hack that had those keys hidden in the different worlds? I liked that hack. Anyways, this hack sounds nice. I wish I could do something like that in SMW! XD I'll play it later (I'll have to get off soon), but I hope it's good! (And I wish you'd finish it. )

Guys, you can put bosses on ANY level. All you have to do is insert the Boss' sprite into the level and use the level things that make it a Boss Level (gives the level a red gradient background with a warning that it's a boss level and can't be edited). Big Boo Boss, Wendy O. Koopa, and Lemmy Koopa are the only exceptions- They can be used normally in ANY level, provided the correct Sprite Memory Setting is selected. By the way, for the Big Boo Boss, the actual level number it's in doesn't determine what exit to use when it's defeated. If you check its description in LM, it says "Defeating it will trigger the level's normal exit, EXCEPT FOR ONE SPECIFIC LEVEL ON THE OVERWORLD WHICH IT WILL TRIGGER THE SECRET EXIT.". Check the overworld for the level number of DONUT SECRET HOUSE. Whatever that level number is in an unmodified SMW ROM, that's the OVERWORLD level number that the BBB (Big Boo Boss) will trigger the Secret Exit for. It can be changed in a Hex editor, though. You have to remember- When clearing a level, the game triggers events for the OVERWORLD level, not secondary levels (the levels you go to by using pipes, doors, etc.). The Bosses are NO exception.

What a sad day this is for me... The sun my be shining, but I see nothing but dark, stormy skies. Oh, but it's not about the ACS. I could care less that I'm still in last place. I think Xkeeper is rigging the ACS to make himself be in first. (Note: I'm just kidding about Xkeeper, but I AM in a sad mood. )

This world may be overpopulated, but killing off people just so THOUSANDS OR MILLIONS MORE CAN COME INTO THIS WORLD? That's just wrong. I hate death. I found out a few minutes ago that someone I used to live next to a few years ago was found dead in her home last Saturday. She was shot in the head. And no one knows who did it, why they did it, or what was to gain from it. It didn't seem like whoever killed her stole anything. It's the reason behind my sad mood. She used to be a good friend of my family. She was so nice...

Someone I knew (and lived next door to) was found DEAD in her house Saturday. She was 80, lived in that house for 40 years, and when she was found dead, the police thought she had died from a fall. An autopsy showed that instead, she WAS MURDERED. She got shot in the head, according to my local newspaper. It didn't seem like the person who killed her stole anything, which is weird. It just... broke my heart there. She was a really nice person. I used to get her mail for her whenever she left to go somewhere for a few days. How can ANYONE be happy when someone they knew well died? .....When you're crazy like me. O_o Seriously, even though I felt like I was going to cry when I heard what had happened, for some reason, I've been unusually happy today. Then again, I'm usually bouncing off the walls each day (No kidding. I may be 15, but I still feel very much like a little kid, and I've gone as far as to call myself CRAAAAZY!)..

I'm just wondering how you would get SMB3 music into a hack along with SMB3 GFX. Would you simply take the GFX (and ExGFX) from an SMB3 GFX hack and place it in one that was patched with SMB3 music? I've noticed that placing the SMB3 music in a hack also makes all the levels look like those from Super Demo World (Not SDW:TLC), so I just want to know if I'm right before I do any irrepairable "damage" to my hack. Also, would FuSoYa's SMB3 pipes work with SMB3 music?

I like this hack, but the game crashes if you lose all your lives and choose "Continue", and if you clear a world as Mario, you get a letter from Peach, and when I cleared World 1, it said I was Luigi and gave Mario the Power Bag, an item that's supposed to be Luigi-only. Plus, after clearing World 1 as Mario, entering the pipe at the end does nothing. It doesn't take you to a level that leads to another Overworld Pipe, it doesn't take you out of the World, it does NOTHING! Plus, clear a world as one brother, and that world is cleared for the other brother, too. I cleared World 1 as Mario and opened Worlds 2 and 3 for him. When I switched to Luigi, World 1 was cleared, and Worlds 2 and 3 were open. Shouldn't what they do in Worlds not affect the other's levels and worlds? Anyways, I'm liking this hack. But... You said getting the Super Leaf as your third End-Of-Level Card sent you to the Mushroom Bonus Game... The first time I got that, it instead sent me to the Star Bonus game. O_o

How much longer until you can release a demo? These days, I find that I'd rather play than make, which is odd, considering the fact that I usually have more ideas than I know what to do with... Also, do you have more screenshots?

Well, the last time I tried that, I could've sworn it turned the levels into SDW3 levels. Guess I was wrong. Thanks. I'll see if that works....

Edit: Silly me, that's a different patch you gave me. Thanks! The one I had before was the one for Super Demo World 3. XD I thought the link you gave me was the exact same patch I already had. One last thing- Is there a patch that goes with it that allows SMB1 music, but DOESN'T change the levels, kinda like this one does?

Way cool. I like Sky overworlds (and levels), especially considering there are hardly any in SMW hacks. There wasn't one in the original, though, and I don't count Star World. ...What's the name of your hack?

Well, for 4, you can take one of the blank Level tiles and make them Level 0, and check the boxes for Level has been passed, Enable ___ (the directions you want to be able to go, except the direction you first come from- That's automatically allowed. ), and No entry if level passed. That'll prevent you from EVER entering that level, thus turning it into a crossroads of sorts. To make it easier on you, just click ALL the Enable direction boxes. You'll only go in that direction if you've laid the Layer 1 direction tiles down in that direction.

Posted on 12-07-06 01:33 PM, in Where are the offsets for these SFX/Music things? Link
I'm wanting to change the SFX/Music played when you hit a P Switch (That's what I call it, but LM calls it a "POW Switch"). The hack I want it changed in has SMB3 music in it, and currently, the music that it plays is the one used when you defeat Bowser in SMB3 (This hack also has SMB3 GFX in it, so I couldn't use the SDW3 patch- That makes all the GFX and levels look like those from SDW), but the correct music seems to be at 04. Anyways, I tried using Lemetaal, but there wasn't any mention of the P Switch music in there, so I'm going to have to edit it in a Hex Editor... Anyways, where would I find the offset to change to get the right music to play? Also, I was wondering something else:

How can I make it so the Level's music keeps playing in the background after I pause the game?

(I know that the offset to change to get the Pause SFX back is mentioned in a thread at SMWCentral, so I'll look there to find it. But if the value I need to change the offset to is different than what was mentioned, please let me know ASAP.)

Thanks in advance!

It was called Super Mario World: Return to the Mushrom Kingdom, but it was an annoyingly long name, so looking for a new name, Ice Man let me use the name of his old cancelled hack, Super Mario Quest.

How far are you in it? It's looking nice so far. How many worlds does it have?

What about the Boss Battle music and the Star Music? I can't change them in Lemetaal, either...

And thanks for the offsets. I saw one hack that used the YI Bonus Area music (0D in SMB3 Music list- Have Star) for the P Switch... How odd.

...Good point. I forgot that the Boss Battle music is normally an actual Level Music Setting in the original SMW... Thanks. With that, I'm off to make the music sound right.... I hope...

Edit: Oh boy. When I said I wanted to have the Level music continue playing after pausing, I didn't mean like that. Pausing the game does that- freezes everything- when I change that offset to 12. It also seems to turn off the pause SFX. What I was wanting is for the music to play softer in the background, like Ghettoyouth did in the Stranded demo. I liked that.

Also, remember to try to stay away from using Exit-Enabled objects in Level 24 unless you've found a way to either disable or override the Chocolate Island 2 thing in SMW. Remember how Chocolate Island 2's pipes sent you to different places depending on your amount of Coins and the time left? Well, try using Exit-Enabled objects in Level 24. That "thing" in the ROM will make that level act like Chocolate Island 2 did. Chocolate Island 2 is on Level 24 in the original game, after all. However, I'm sure you could find ways to use that to your advantage... Still, stay away from it if you can. If you TRULY need to use it, either find all the levels that Chocolate Island 2's pipes can send you to and modify them for your own uses or find a way to override the "Chocolate Island 2 Effect" so you can use it as a normal level...
