It's funny how close I am to other board members. | I frankly don't care much about the subject. And just like alcohol, I don't believe in the usage of mind altering substances for most situations. Medicinal reasons are certainly excusable. However, all things aside, it's not my choice about what people choose to do. If marijuana's gonna be illegal, then there's no reason alcohol shouldn't be. We all know people smoke marijuana even though it's illegal. Might as well make it legal and then some corporations can make some profit. Or tax some brohams. Dunno. There are more important issues. | There are some weird happenings going on with my PC. Originally, there would be tons of times where it would just stall or freeze for no reason in particular. And it would be really loud. However, I also noticed during winter break that when on its side, the comp was really quiet. I went inside and noticed that a bunch of wires were clumped directly above the cpu fan and so I tied them using rubber bands and moved them to the side. The freezing and other problems have stopped, although there are these 1. When I turn on the computer, and it hasn't been on for a good while, it will NOT load up on the first try after entering my password and pressing enter. Although if I manually restart the computer, it will always load and login on the second try. It doesn't depend on when I choose to press the restart button. I've done it immediately after one minute, or even after a half hour or so with the same effect. 2. The fan can be really loud at times, although not all the time. It really doesn't depend on when I turned it on either. 3. As indicated by RamIdle.exe, after I play some game on Steam(preferably Dystopia), my free Ram shoots up to 700+ MB. 4. At first, I had this computer hooked up to a Samsung SyncMaster 750s monitor. And I noticed that on other computers, the picture would be brighter. So, I hooked up my comp to this other CRT(Samsung SyncMaster 550s) laying around at home which appeared to have a brighter picture with a different computer. So I thought that it should offer my computer the same brightness. However, I was wrong. I only achieved that brightness by playing around with the ATI settings. The thing is, I had the same problem with my old computer. (It was as dark.) So now, after changing those around, the general brightness is the same as a normal PC, but that isn't the case with videos and such in DivX among other media players. (they're still dark) This is a recently built computer and I am currently running Ewido Anti-Malware, Registry Mechanic, and Ad-Aware SE Pro. Specs: XP Pro Service Pack 2 AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.01 GHz, 1 GB of DDRam Radeon x800 PCI exp If you need other specs, see them here. | The Azumunga Daioh/Kill Bill and Berserk/All in the Family ones were great.
The Naruto seal one would be more applicable if they actually used those more often and explained what the hell the point is. The Grave of the Fireflies/Disco Inferno one was in REALLY bad taste, IMO. Yakitate!! Japan/Weird Al and Hellsing/Carmen Sandiego=clever Yuu Yuu Hakusho/Cartman song=awesome. Mahou Sensei Negima/Magic Stick song=good choreography. ...WAIT! The Transformers Movie is NOT anime. Neither is KD. I was really happy to see they put in Hokuto no Ken(the original) but think they could've done something better like dub it with Bruce Lee or Mad Max or something. Truth be told: too much Azumunga Daioh, Evangelion, and Excel Saga. Although the Azumunga Daioh/Indian Music one went pretty well together. I've heard that song before too. 
So stupid how they showed so much more in the credits. A lot more One Piece was shown there, and stuff like City Hunter and Saint Seiya weren't even in the video but in the credits' background. Too many stupid titles in there. |

| I really want to become a doctor. Nobody else wanted me to, I chose myself. To help people, to eradicate certain infectious diseases maybe, whatever. Medicine interests me. But to do it, I need to go through these grueling 14 years of my life. (4 for college and med school each, 3 for residency and fellowship each) Right now I'm a freshman at Rutgers. I've never been the best student around. But I do know I'm "smart" and have been discouraged many times before when I received low grades. However, I always pulled through in those science or math courses with a C, managing to keep my average a B+ even though I know I could've done better. And now, after being on academic probation the first semester, my grades have come up a little, and I haven't failed any major tests yet, but I wonder how much longer I can keep this charade up. Even if I pass all my classes, I doubt I would get into Medical School with a C average. Why should I have to dig through so much shit like Calculus and Physics just to get to the real poignant stuff? I'll be 31 if I do become a doctor. But no matter what, I can't see myself as anything else. I chose to become a doctor because I feel that's a job I would feel needed at, feel important at doing. But I'm not really all that great at science. Or math. Or anything else. So it's either become a doctor or a bum on the streets to me. There are times when I can't see myself as either. Sure I can really hit some concepts home with chemistry and calculus(courses I'm re-taking this semester) but I can't remember all that I need to know. And that's what kills me. | |||

| Playing FF8 when it first came out, got to like the second disc or so and stopped playing. The year after I picked it up again and during this time, my controller ports would constantly tell me no controllers are plugged in, making me plug and replug them over and over. So I got far, to like the end of the 3rd disc, when one day, while loading the game, it stopped midway and said there was an error... I checked the save on the ps1 memory card system thingie and there was a big x where the ff8 file should be, saying that the data was corrupt. I was never able to load it again. It was the curse that began my streak of not completing games. | |||

Yea, it's just that all the little snags when doing problems add up and really get to me. Snow: Uh, is a 3.5 gpa supposed to be low?  Because as of now I feel that I'd need to be damn lucky to get that.
I've been thinking about schools outside of the US a lot. Spain and Italy are known for their excellent medical schools. And the cost is certainly lower and it does open up more possibilities. I've also been looking into India. That way even though I'm away from my family here, I can still catch up with my extended family there. And not to mention they have some pretty good schools also. Some geared towards American education systems as opposed to the more common European ones. |

| Well it's easy to empathize, I think, with people who think this way. People do a lot of times stress their negative feelings a lot and look at things objectively. At the same time, as Sky said, emotions overpower rational thought. Makes people do things they wouldn't otherwise. It's just sad when it happens, and more recently over the years(in the past 4) I've become more used to hearing about things like these happening. | |||
