I just want the benefits of GNU/Linux in an easy to install and mantain manner. |

Originally posted by Bookworm I think you have a flawed view of what "science" is. As I stated previously, science is simply fact building, triangulating logic. It doesn't necessarily just explain things that are not seen, it is a standardized approach to proving things we hold to be true. My analogy would be to think of it like a proof in geometry. Everything that is prooven in science is held in place by a buttress of facts and research. That's what science is all about. Examples in religion aren't fact. The Bible is meant as allagory anyway, not to be given as true examples. They are stories to attempt to instill "proper" values that Christians wish to highlight in their followers. Simply stated, there will be no way to prove or disprove anything about Religion, it is not within our grasp as humans. This is why Religion and Science simply do not exist on the same plane. Science only deals with things that can and cannot be proven according to other truthes that were found in a similar process. However, in my opinion, some people get upset when humans advance to the point where they can answer some of the "unkowns" that previously only Religion could answer. |

Originally posted by PhantomrainOriginally posted by Ziff No, you're leaving because you realize you have absolutely nothing to back up any of your statements and that you're almost entirely full of shit . Oh really, I didn't write the Bible? Thanks for pointing that out, I was totally unaware that a document compiled hundreds and hundred of years before my conception was not authored by my humble self. No seriously, thanks for the grand fucking insights. Going along the same logical lines you laid out in which I cannot decide the intention of the multiple authors of the bible, you too are unable to give motive for their writings. And I would be most pleased if you could iterate any of this "evidence" you're talking about and back it up with something. Weird, I've never before heard such an explination for the existance of the Grand Canyon. Probably some sort of left-wing Jewish conspiracy to deny the existance of the one true Lord. I have never denied the existance of a historical figure now known as Jesus Christ. So what if he existed. That speaks nothing to claims of his relationship with a higher heavenly figure. IIRC, Islam acknowledges the existance of Jesus Christ, they just don't think he was sent from heaven... I mean, the jews acknowledged a figure named Jesus Christ existed, didn't they? Whoopdie-fucking-doo. What a huge major victory in this argument you have one, "but wait, there is actually someone else who said that some events highlighted in the bible might have actually taken place!" Shouldn't we be surprised if these accounts aren't extensively talked about in every major historical record. And what exactly do they say specifically. Do they have accounts of burning bushes, do they talk about men walking on water with credible reports? Or do they just say, "there was a mass migration of peoples around the time of [X] ruler." P.S. I'm Jesus fucking Christ. |

The only thing I currently have installed is the Web Developer extension, EditCSS, and the Rocker Navigation extension that I created. Unfortunatly it's currently broken and I haven't gotten around to fixing it... the latest version on mozilla.org is definetly fucked, so nobody try it

I'm starting up this thread again.
Battle Shit: //if bit 1 is set, the character is dead, other status ailments are in this byte too, iirc $6101 ;char1 status byte //used during battle to determine the sprite set to use for each character // #$00 - dead // #18 - kneeling/status ailment set $6AD6 ;char1 sprite position //this draws the 4 windows that encapsule the 4 character's battle stats $F2FE:A9 19 LDA #$19 ;stat battle x position for all 4 stat windows Not Battle Shit: //window calling routines for the shopkeeper screens. it appears this is called for every window draw and change in option. $AA3B:20 41 AA JSR $AA41 |

A few more battle-related values.
Also as a note: the values I posted about that determine which battle sprite should be displayed for each character, (i.e. $6AD6 for char1) are not entirely correct. They work for all non-dead sprites. Non-dead sprites are chosen in a different manner from a different routine I have not yet located, probably because non-dead sprites are 16x48 (vertical) and dead sprites are horizontal (assuming, use at your own risk).

They were, and are, fucking god-awful. I mean just really a big pile of elephant excrement. |

Taking a really provacative, visually and otherwise, groundbreaking cartoon and urning it into just another run of the mill hollywood special effects action crapfest is disgraceful. |

I would like to conduct a simple experiment to test this so-called "war on xmas". It is simply yet another right-wing subversion to mobilize their base, because for some reason those types are crazy about this bullshit.
1) How many of you have ever talked to a person who has ever been upset or contested your salutation of "Merry Christmas"? I am very certain that most of you will be able to answer that in the negative (and if I'm wrong.. fuckit). Real, rational Americans don't bother with this crap. I do not know of anyone who has ever offered any objection to be greetings. Personally, I wouldn't care if someone wished me a happy fucking Kawanza, which is what I've taken to wishing people lately The sentiment is the same, and any anal, semantically obsessive person who gets upset with how I am wishing them never-ending cheer and the blessings of all of mankind, doesn't deserve to be greeted as such in the first place. Interesting fact: George W. Bush's own Presidential seasonal celebreation cards actually say "Happy Holidays". So is George W. Bush, vehicle of the conservative right of this country for the past 5 years, a left-wing liberal aetheist who wishes to abolish religion completely from this country? umm... No. I'm pretty sure he just wante to tell people to enjoy themselves during break. (edited by Gavin on 12-16-05 01:57 PM) |

I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on Political Correctness. What does being "PC" mean to you? Do you see being PC as a good thing? Is PC any different from just good old fashioned being polite?

As some of you might know, Romhacking.net is set to open pretty soon and so far there is a great deal already in the database, however a lot of the items pertain to translation hacking only. In it's current form the website might not offer as much as some might hope for non-translation hackers such as ourselves.
To remedy this I'd appreciate you guys adding things that you would like to see submitted to the site by posting in this thread, sending an email my way (gavin.b.lynch@gmail.com), or submitting the item to romhacking.net Unfortunatly the Hacks section will not be up in time for the launch of the site, so please refrain from attempting to submit IPS patches to romhacking.net for just now. You can still post the hacks here or send them to me at the above mentioned email address and I will include them when I populate the Hacks section. In addition, I'm curious as to what you all would like to see in the hacks section feature-wise. Depending on the practicality, I'll definetly consider suggestions. So come on, don't be shy, post anything at all that you think might want to be included... you're favorite hacks, favorite utilities, favorite documents that helped you out the most. So let's get cranking, eh? (also if you would like, register and post any comments in the romhacking.net hacking section thread (edited by Gavin on 12-18-05 10:23 PM) |

There seems to be a weird error with the avatar... whenever I use ceratin images they seem to dissapear without explination. I'd like someone to look into this because it's kind of annoying to have to re-edit my profile repeatedly.

Meh, I'll play nice (for now), this isn't my cause anyway. I just think the whole situation is silly and the inconsistant application of the rules obnoxious. |
