Humans can live without hatred.. The problem is, hatred is not entirely inherent, but much of it is taught, or absorbed through unnaturally harsh environments. Essentially, while we can live without it.. it is very hard to get rid of once it forms. It takes many generations of life to cull it from our civilizations.. And even then, hatred is incredibly persistent and needs only survive through a single bloodline until it eventually spreads out again..

Add to that the strife of current world affairs too.. The seed of hatred gets planted years in advance, and then something political (or whatever) springs upwards, thus acting as a crutch for the hatred to act on..

It is damn hard to eliminate the problem, but no.. I don't think we need it. I do think life would be a bit more boring if we didn't have some kind of minor conflict\differences between us all though.. But that doesn't imply we have to hate one another to be happy, just that.. not everyone can be perfectly satisfied at all times. (Utopia is quite far-fetched.)

Max stats in FFVI was.. eh, such overkill it isn't funny. I think about halfway there or so, you're already plenty powerful enough to take on the final boss without any real trouble.. right? I seem to recall it being that level range, though it has been awhile so it is hazy.

I tend to go for every item too though, or all the biggies at least. I guess it varies on the game.

I've been through worse surgery, (had my colon removed, whee) and.. Well I can honestly say I can relate to the jitters very much, but you'll be fine really.. It isn't that bad either, they know what they're doing and all that. And it is funny too.. I remember thinking they were going to have a hell of a time knocking me out for my surgery.. But there I was, wheeled in there and laying on the bed with all the doc's gathered around me preparing..

And you know what? I have NO idea what the hell they did, but I was out like a light before I knew it. I can't even remember (literally can't remember, at all) when it was that I even passed out.. It just seems like my memory of the incident cuts off at a certain point all of a sudden.. Weird stuff, but I'm glad it is like that too, and I'm sure they'll do the same for you. So no worries!

I'm sure they'll provide an editor of some kind, most all high quality FPS titles have an editor these days and it wouldn't make sense for a game like this NOT to have one. (Theres just too much potential there, so many possibilities.)

I hope it isn't simply a minigame.. That'd be a terrible disappointment.. The lack of combat isn't a big deal, its focus obviously appears to be about puzzles and mind benders, and that's half of what makes it so fun. Besides, we saw security drones in there, so I suspect there will be creative things to kill the player, whether or not he can fight back directly.

Sure, they have different branches that do different things and no one here is ignorant enough to think otherwise. But the fact remains, do you want to support a company through any means that pulls crap like that on people?

And besides, Sony hasn't been known for the greatest in quality hardware. Just look at the first few versions of the PS and the PS2 for an example of this.. I mean, it isn't like this is an isolated case and someone is poking at a molehill and trying to make it into a mountain, rather actually it is a mountain to begin with. Sony's practices and their poor choice of attitude to customers have given me a distaste for them entirely as of late..

Posted on 08-08-06 09:51 AM, in Why does this board hate Pokemon Hacking?? Link
The fact you even had to make this thread sort of shows why the forum section ended up like it did.. And though I probably seem relatively new here to most, I'm more realistically one of the longest running lurkers this forum has ever had. (if not "the" most, I can remember the first board even. =P)

But I digress a little, despite how I look.. I actually know better than to ask stupid questions when I actually do post. And you know what? People respect you a bit more when you sit back and pay attention before blurting out nonsense questions, especially ones you could find out the answers to for yourself easily enough. After all, being a novice is fine, but you aren't going to get a lot of respect if you don't try to pick things up on your own..

Also, if you "don't know where to start" or some such thing, then common sense says that you probably aren't ready for the project you're attempting, and you'd be better off starting somewhere on lower ground (outside of Pokemon hacking in this case) and learning the bare bones from other sources.. If you can't do that, then don't expect anyone to hold your hand, the majority of us never had anyone do that for us and that's how we've gotten to the point we have in our ability..

Oh and.. I've never even looked at Pokemon hacking more than at a glance once or twice.. (Yes.. I've lurked this long and never bothered to visit that place, it just never appealed to me to begin with.) And I knew automatically it would be filled to the brim with crap.. If you don't understand why, then your perception of the internet is likely not fully developed yet, because it is just common sense to me (and the admins, and the staff in general) that such a forum as that is going to attract the most idiotic and laziest of people ever. If you still disagree with that much, you're likely part of said group of people, lazy and idiotic. Harsh, but eh.. Sometimes that's needed.

It's a hobby, it's meant to be fun and when you use 3 weeks of work, it becomes very unfun to have to redo it.

The problem is, my friend.. People in this thread cannot read. You clearly made this point already, it shouldn't have needed repeating.. Albeit indeed that the thread title is a little misleading, but it was clear from your first post that you were only taking a break.. and quite understandable that is.

Take your rest, be at ease. A lot of people are very much looking forward to seeing your creations completed, but that doesn't mean we are all impatient, or cannot relate to these problems.. Don't sweat it, and go back to it whenever you feel it is worth it again.

Actually.. No. The censor could originally be removed in the stock version of the game with just a console command. This command was removed later via updates and expansions, and mods have been used since then. (They also were made prior to the discovery of the console command.)

Regardless, the sims had no detail to their textures below the censoring.. just a flat skin texture, nothing there beyond a vague shape of a bust on the female sims.. So yea, his claim was ridiculous even so.

I love it, the idea is genius.. Probably should have done something like this quite some time earlier on.. But eh.. And I'd be applying, but seeing as I'm the lurker here, it is much more likely that I'll just sit back and read, which will be even nicer with this change..

As I see it, the real problem has always been that people can very easilly be too stupid to belong in the ROM hacking forum but not the complete dumbasses required to get themselves banned. Being able to partially ban them (which is exactly what being non-approved is) fixes that neatly.

Problem is.. It'll take more work to ban the majority of ignorant fools from ROM Hacking than it would to approve those who can actually contribute something.. And no, I highly doubt all of those people even have the brain power to apply, so you won't need to shift through a lot of applications. (Actually, just glancing at an application should be enough anyway.. keeping tabs on a fully active forum with many members, is harder..)

Your idea is a good one too, don't get me wrong, but yea.. It has gone past the point of anyone having patience anymore, and thus these more rigid rules needed to be set.. Regardless, getting in isn't very difficult, and activity isn't likely to go down very much there.. (Really, was it all that active to begin with?) We'll see it cleaner this way, and perhaps start seeing more gems and less.. crap.

I'm sorry.. You can't wait half a day? That's no time at all.. Besides, how much is even going to get posted in that time? Not a lot considering its activity.. (Also remember.. you can still VIEW it, just not reply without an accepted Application.) That's just grossly impatient of you, though.. And really, sometimes applications might take serious consideration, in which case then.. time may be needed like that.

Really, if someone can't wait that long in order to post, they might not be eligible to begin with.. ROM Hacking generally requires a lot of patience and resolve, and most of us have some kind of life to live outside the forums anyway, so half a day isn't that much..

Well, that's just sucky. Might I ask what the problems were?

The thing is, I only think the approval idea will really work in the short-term, for the reason that you really want to bring in "fresh blood" to the forums (just without the stupidity) and I don't think this is particularly conducive to that.

So I'm wondering if there are any ideas for things on a more newbie-friendly way of doing things.

Advanced Hacking failed because there is no clear line as to what is advanced, and what is not.. Many people weren't sure which to post in, and in general, the forum was just ignored by the majority.. It just wasn't working, albeit it was sound enough an idea in theory.

As for this only being short term, perhaps.. But eh. The idea is to reject anyone who is too stupid to be there, and let in those who are genuinely new and wish to learn things.. I think that's fine, and although some idiots might still slip through, and some lazy but talented people might not register an application.. in the end, it is still going to be better off than it has been in the past.

And newbie friendly by the way, is a very nice thing to consider.. But this forum has existed a very long time now, we aren't exactly here (in the ROM hacking department at least) to cater to newcomers. That is not to say we reject them, or do not wish to help those who truly wish to advance in the field.. But, we're old enough now that we shouldn't have to outright cater to them and allow every tom, dick, and henry to walk in and ask the most grossly ignorant of things.. And no, I am not calling newcomers ignorant in general, but a LOT of people on the internet are ignorant, and they "just so happen" to be new too. Funny, that..

Anyway, all a newcomer has to do is make one post in the application forum, and so long as they have half a brain, they get right to post. (Remember, the forums can be viewed regardless, the application is just for posting rights..) It doesn't really seem like anyone has to go out of their way to do that, and the staff here aren't going to turn away anyone they feel might have some potential to them.. You just need half a brain to get through this process, which filters out all those dumbasses in one fell swoop.. In other words, I don't see this as newbie unfriendly, nor even if it were do I think we really need to cater to that any longer with all the problems it causes us.. No one is trying to be an elitest in the literal sense either, but quite frankly there are some really moronic people who don't deserve the time of day sometimes, and thus a system like this is really needed..

I personally thought the ROM hacking forum should also have been approval only, but... I guess we'll just see how it goes.

Too many stuckup morons who take more time bitching about why a system sucks than just posting an application saying "Hello I am ___(NAME)___ and such hi."

Too true.. If you can take the time to whine on about something like this, you have the time to post a snippet of text for an application.

Chrono Cross didn't do too exceptionally well.. The story was too vague for most people, and the game wasn't direct enough a sequel to please all the fans of the original.. Mind you, I personally loved Cross, and found it to be just as good as Trigger in a way. But, I see far to many people who just hated Cross, or whom didn't understand it at all..

Due to that, I'm not sure we'll ever see another Chrono title..

I don't buy this test at all. I rated with 0 Mobility (which is true, since I never leave the house, really..) but somehow, still ended up with a footprint of about 16 or so.. If everyone lived like me it said, we'd need 4.3 (or whatever) planets.. right.. If no one drove and lived in a small town (<1000) like me, I'm really sure that'd require four planets, right, absolutely..

There is so much bull in this test it is absurd. I hardly do anything to suck up the worlds resources other than the electric I use, which I tend to put to some good use at least, so it isn't wasted.. Seemed the fact I said I eat meat and such made the results skyrocket, which leads me to believe the test is either very biased, or there is some secret animal shortage I don't know about..

I wouldn't mind finding out how that went, though a sinking feeling tells me Aeris will get it, just because it is FFVII related.
