The only thing I don't like is the pink island in the middle. Other than that, it's good. I'm terrible at OW editing... Your's is better than mine, actually. All my overworlds suck.... *sigh*.....

The problem with my game was that I pasted over the tileset specfic objects permanently (to make new land). Only pages 0-f cvan be used to insert objects directly into the game. SO where can I put new map 16 objects (to make land or other objects) without messing up the ones that are ALREADY THERE (tILESET SPECIFIC, ANIMATION, ETC.)?

So... page 4 and up can be used for new 16x16 tiles? Even though every one of them say: "A grey cement block that mario can't walk through"?

Thanks for clearing that problem up. That was the only problem I've had with ExGFX/map16 (16x16 tiles)/8x8 tiles. Everything else has been cleared up for me, and I understand it. Now, on to more SMW hacking!!!!!

Nice. I see a lot of stuff from SMB3 and some looks like from SMB2... but I guess that's intended. I really like it and can't wait to play it. I noticed snow....
Can you give me pics of the 8x8 tiles that make up your snow, what type of exanimation it is, and the order of the tiles in the animation? That would really help me b/c I tried to make snow myself (W/ 4 8x8 tiles) but it looked choppy and retarded and I ouldn't get it to run smoothly.) Please help and thanks. Keep up the great hacking!

First of all, I tried to make it snow with 4 single 8x8 tiles. It looked choppy and unsteady (it flashes). So then I put my rain in (Already had made and tested and it worked) and colored it white. It did the same thing. Then I tried to put in the rain (without changing it at all) and I set it up exactly how I did in the rain level where it worked. It STILL didn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Please help me. (I tried this on my game AFTER I had expanded it to 8MB [by accident]) If this is the problem, then I will try again on my new rom (NOT expanded to 8MB; but ALL my levels, ExGFX, palettes, and overworld were inserted from the 8MB rom) Please help me figure out why this keeps happening (also, in each next animation tile, the rain (4 small tiles long) is moved over 2 tiles, I figured it would keep it smooth.)

the 4 rain tiles-

I downloaded it a while back, and just now started to try to use it. I changed a water level to have the DKC water movement type effect, and renamed the clean SMW rom to smw.smc, but when I try to use the .bat thing, it doesn't make a new smw-d4 rom. I deleted the original SMW's header, b/c it said to not have a 200 byte header, which it did. How do I insert the changes to a clean SMW rom? Details, details....please. Also, does it work on Windows XP?

I've been trying to download the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge (US) rom for a week or so. The only place I can find it is romreactor.net. Problem is, they're being really gay and their servers are backed up by 200+ downloads. Damn them!!! Anywhere else I can get it (US SNES version)?

I've updated my tutorial with just a few new things to help out with Extended Animation. I found out what I was doing wrong to my extended aimation (it wasn't working right.) I found out why, it was really simple, but I couldn't think of it. I found out by reading the help file actually. I was placing my destination over an original sprite (7F; looked blank to me..) That's why it was messing up. I put a note addressing this so people wouldn't make the same stupid mistake I did.

Here it is:

http://www.savefile.com/files/3159919

Any problems, questions, etc. PM me.

Should I add any other sections to the tutorial?

Post any suggestions of additional chapters of LM tutorials in this thread and I'll see what I can do

Don't you have to delete the header (of the clean SMW rom)before applying the SMB3 patch to a it?

My demo of Super Mario's Quest will be finished/tested today and will be released for download tomorrow! I've taken hacking slow, and tried to pay attention to details, to make it at least decent. Here are some screenshots until then!
Enjoy!!

Yeah, the heart is the mushroom. As for the water, I'm not that great with animations, as you'll be able to tell once you actually play it. Also, the trees were my first background I made and the grass used in the first level was my first foreground (land) I made, so they pretty much suck. I know I'm not the best artist either, but hey, I HAVE seen worse. The demo's coming out tomorrow, I have to design 1 more level, change the intro movie playback, lock the hack, and test it to make sure that it runs without glitches/problems. I've played most of my levels through, but it's better to be safe then sorry. I hope my ExGFX drawing skills improve and also, I will put some ripped GFX in it. The 3rd overworld (Mushroom Lake) isn't featured in this demo, but I'm going to put a lakeside limbo (Donkey Kong Country 3) level and make my own lake type levels. After that, who knows!

EDIT:

What should I name it?

Super Mario's Adventure
Super Mario in the Mushroom Land
Attack on the Mushroom Land
Super Mario's Voyage
Super Mario's Venture
Terror in the Mushroom Land
Disaster in the Mushroom Land
Super Mario's Conquest

eh?....

MAJOR EDIT!!!:
It seems that in my time crunch to finish, I made a HUGE mistake. When I made the movie intro, I put the Vanilla Dome world at world 1, so I could play and record it easier. In my time crunch, I forgot to change it back. The download link is updated and the patch fixed. Also, yesterday I got grounded from EVERYTHING (computer, PS2, music, etc..) which means I can't continue my hack until I get un-grounded

*NEW DOWNLOAD LINK*:

Well, here it is. The last few worlds I designed were designed in a time crunch. Not only did I have to finish it last night, but my parents kept yelling at me to get off the computer so they could use it

Anyways... I obviously changed the name from Super Mario's Quest to Super Mario's Journey. Hope you enjoy it and more will come and will hopefully be a lot better!

ENJOY!!

EDIT: Added screenshots! (I forgot to when I posted here first.)

First of all, what level are you talking about that is the same from the original SMW (the level name).

Secondly, could your critisism be more specific; instead of just 'it could use a LOT of work!'

1. The question about STAR ROAD level/Vanilla Dome 3 level is answered in my MAJOR EDIT at the beginning.

2. In the beach level, he's walking on land because I suck at making land.

3. I've never had any problems WHEN I TESTED IT at the switch palace pipe. It always worked with me. I used snes9x, the latest windows version.

4. You get yoshi. You don't need the cape at all to cross the piranna plants.
