| I was disappointed in how short the game was. Only 34 hours on the game clock when I beat the last boss on Proud mode. Which, of course, I tried first.
What tended to annoy me was when you would fight any boss that could kill you, if there wasn't a save point next to where you are put from the "Continue?" option, if you decided to change around your abilities or your equipment to be better prepared for the boss, then lost anyway, you would have to do all the changes again when you continued. Also. Spoiler:
The first time with the Light Cycles game. The continue just Had to make you do skip scene twice with the quite long loading time for skipping scenes. Normally I'm quite patient about this sort of thing, but after more than a dozen tries any waiting time is hell. But yeah, it was a really fun time. Obviously I have to go back and 'finish' everything, because I haven't even found out where Sephiroth is yet. |

Far away from this scene of carnage, there is a much more peaceful building. Nearly on the opposite side of the world, and underground as far as the Psipalace is high in the air. It's calm, cool, and mostly undisturbed by the outside world. Its four stone walls seem to exude stability and strength. On the inside, the space is bright, warm, and comforting. Bookshelves line the walls, filled with volumes of knowledge and tomes of arcane wisdom. From the ceiling hangs a silver chandelier, covered in symbols of power, whose candles glow with a pale blue light. There is a simple woven mat on the floor, upon which a man was sleeping until just recently. Now he is standing, in his usual black robes, his graying black hair seeming almost iridescent in the eerie light. Behind his omnichromatic spectacles, his eyes shimmer with determination and vigor. Chaos energy at the Psipalace. And there's Schwa(!), with his odd mix of energy signatures, plus a bit more. What in the hell is going on? Adric's curiosity gets the better of him. He pulls a green glowing rod about the size of a pencil from one of his many pockets, and holds it up to the air. He can feel a rush of magic around him, and then he has arrived at the Psipalace, just in time to hear Schwa call his attacker a friend. Good thing, too, or Adric might have done something he'd regret later. As for now, he's using some stored energy he'd prepared earlier to shield himself from the waves of chaotic power as he waits to hear what in the hell is going on. After all, Schwa is his friend. |

| The arrows strike the mirrors, and are reflected. However, as Schwa may or may not have guessed by this point, each of the arrows splits into seven right before bouncing off the mirrors. Due to a peculiar aspect of the time manipulation involved in this particular manifestation of Krishen's multiplier spell, they split again soon after being reflected.
And because the reader is probably not willing to do the math in his or her head, that comes to 2,401 white glowing arrow shards being fired randomly across the landscape. None of them carry shards of Krishen's soul, so he's unable to direct their flight, and many of them come blazing at his copies. They tear right through the weak artificial flesh, and the forms are still recovering from the energy loss, so many of them disintegrate and float away as dust in the wind. If Schwa is still looking with the Soul Search, he'll probably notice that as copies are destroyed, the nearby forms become stronger. Upon another glance, it's obvious that the number of Krishens has significantly decreased. Only twenty-five of him remain. "Good, good... Now, attack me! And none of this melee attack stuff you tried before, see? I want to see your real power. If that's not too much to ask." The remaining Krishens finish getting their breath back. They're standing almost motionless, waiting for Schwa's next move. |

| ...Damn. Nothing's changed, has it? All that training and practice, more arcane knowledge than actually exists, all to protect friends, and now, when it actually matters, I can't do a thing. Looking down at the green crystal in my hand, it's as though it had never meant anything at all. So much chaotic power that even the memory of how it was that I first obtained this marvelous object has been blown away, let alone its color. Was it colorful once? Red, blue, green? There's no way to tell, the black, lusterless way that it is now.
...What did I just think? I can't do a thing? Dammit, I'm old, not useless. Schwa's probably counting on me. By the looks of it, he'll need quite a bit of help to take on this mysterious new adversary. Oh, what the hell. One more adventure couldn't hurt. You old fool, you know very well it could. Hah! Alright, then. One more adventure is worth the effort. Indeed. Go on, Schwa's gone now. Better go after him. Ah, so I see. ... Adric turns, and leaps off the platform after Schwa. As he falls, with a great effort of concentration, he drops the crystal. Though he's not looking, when it hits the ground it shatters silently into millions of infinitesimal pieces. There is no one to watch as the black dust slowly ceases to exist, along with a bond Adric had long held sacred. It is somehow fitting that it ends as it began, lonely and forgotten. But of course, Adric is already flying off with incredible speed, looking through the forest below for any sign of the Psi Warrior. Elsewhere, Kuroi holds out a hand, and golden shards come spiraling through the air, gathering together to form a small stone carving of a young girl, wearing a beautifully inscribed dress, holding a sphere in one hand, waving with the other. He carefully sets the statue on the ground in the wilderness, and begins his prayer to the Oracles. |

Kuroi remains perfectly calm. His pale skin and long, dark hair are still frustratingly motionless. Not even a flicker can be seen in his closed eyes. But of course, he must have noticed. The orb in the statue's hand begins to glow with a pale yellow light. Kuroi's kneeling figure casts a shadow on the ground, which then proceeds to stand up off the ground and take a look around for the hidden assailant. After all, nothing may interrupt the prayer. Adric is beginning to catch up on Schwa... |
