Okay, so I owe Kyouji a roasting:

Kyouji, you'd either be the irritating little cousin that clings onto family member's legs and won't let go of his DS, or the uncle that's led a successful life, owns beachfront property and retirement estates, is filthy stinking rich and probably wants to include most of the family in his will...

...But still can't find a girl to marry him.

Hrm, so EE's catching up to me...

Damn, of course, I'm still flailing on PARANOIA Survivor, too. I managed to pass the first three psychotic 8th note runs (more like 16ths at that speed...), but I'm still running out of steam! I think I need to start doing more Long Versions of songs, and more Nonstops. Also, doing SO DEEP like three times in a row would be convenient.

I also pulled off my first legitimate spin a week ago. Of course, I'm not so sure how legit it was, because it was on I Believe in Miracles, but still, that's one small step for a man...

Back on topic, or I start shucking the gloves off.

I'm a huge SNES bitch, it was my first real system, and I've loved it since day one. Hell, I still kick back with my little sister and play Kirby's Superstar every now and then, and who can say no to Earthbound? (well, a lot of people, but I ain't one of them)

Other than that, I do love my Gamecube and PS2, and my DS a good bit. The last three I bought myself, no gifts involved at all, so I'm feelin' pretty suave about that, too. Heck, I can remember the order in which I got a bunch of my systems:

I first bought a Genesis on my own time, never regretted it though I sold it when it stopped working...

The proceeds for that went to my first Playstation, which was another one that I was glad I got.

Traded that for a PSOne, good thing I did too, or else I'd never be able to get anything put towards my...

Gamecube, which I've had for almost three years now (it was a launch Gamecube, I'm a nintendo fanboy). Before that I received a GBA as a birthday gift from me dad, but that didn't stop me from buying...

A PS2, a year later. That was around 2003, I think. Or 4...

...No, wait, 4 was when I bought the Dreamcast. Owned it for about seven months, played it, yeah, but never really got anything out of it because nobody sold Dreamcast games anymore. Go figure.

But that summer I also got myself a GBASP to replace the stolen one that I ended up with in the beginning...

...And a DS to replace that, because I was a dumbass and sold what could possibly be Nintendo's greatest gaming device ever.

And that's it. History? Nah. But it sure was fun.

Ugh, horrible fucking idea. Marriage under 30, for that matter, ain't lookin' too good neither.

Shoot, you kids and your marriage, don't you realize that nothing is forever, and that by implying that you want to settle down at this early of an age means that you're willing to give yourself a set of responsibilities that, quite frankly, you may very well NOT be equipped to deal with at all?

Raising a family, owning a house, even living in an apartment and supporting yourself? Most people aren't even capable of doing that when they're 21, much less when they're younger than that. Shit, I myself won't even be out of college 'til I'm 25. At best. The mere suggestion that someone would want to start a life of their own in a world that demands an impeccable ability to control your life, income, and personal mental health AND support someone else that they're gonna have to spend the rest of their life with (a time period that just gets longer the earlier you marry) is ludicrous!

......So, so, yeah... True love and all, but I'm against it.

Not necessarily: The thing about a zygote is that, well, technically it's really just six or seven cells. Six or seven cells, IMO, no matter what a NeoCon says about it, is not a classifiable living thing just yet. So we wouldn't really know.

Now, what would be really weird is if we tried to map the chromosomes inside the nuclei of the zygotes, and we ended up with a number of chromosomes equal to the mean average of a human chromosome count and a rabbit's... Wtf, eh?

And now that Dracoon brings it up, I myself WOULD be interested in seeing what develops if the embryos were allowed to grow beyond an early stage. I don't think it'd be a furry or anything like that, but it'd certainly be pretty interesting. I don't think it'd be inhumane, either. I dunno why, but something about the whole process really doesn't strike me as the kind of thing that could be accused as "playing god"...

Oh, I can't believe I missed this.

You fools...

Dr. Doom's superpower isn't magic, or science, or technology, or badassitude (which I assure you he dishes out like whoa)...

His superpower is that he can not lose. Ever. Literally.

Like, that's the superpower that Marvel has given him. It has been listed in various places that Dr. Doom has been given the devil's luck for a superpower. His mother has made a pact with satan that, in exchange for her soul, he would never see defeat in its fullest form.

Aside from being a master of science, technology, and magic (meaning he can basically do anything he damn well wants), Doom also CONTROLS HIS OWN COUNTRY and oftentimes will just sit there on his throne and laugh at how amazing he is. He has noted that he could take over the world anytime. He's been given the opportunity to and turned it away. Why? He's so evil and amazing and villainous and awesome that he is one of the few supervillains to ever exist to realize that there really is no point in controlling the world when the very core of being evil is just getting what you want all the time when you want it without regarding the costs. That is the very essence of Doom, and it is the very reason why he is the most amazing supervillain to ever live.

He's tangled with Spiderman, he's tangled with Dr. Strange, he's fought the best of them, he's fought the worst of them (hello there, Fantastic Four...), and throughout it all, he's never been imprisoned, destroyed, killed, harmed, hurt, emotionally wracked, or even given the slightest bit of minor annoyance throughout the whole thing. He truly is the wunderkund supervillain of the Marvel Universe.

Also, Sam, when Luthor became President, I dunno if you watched your Justice League or not, but Superman killed him. Eyelaser to the face, man. Set the world standard for lobotomizing Batman villains from that point on.

And Galactus? Hello, all it took was a godmoding pansy with a shiny surfboard to bring him down. Oooh, I can eat worlds, look at me, but I can't do it if I make a deal with my little taco-eating manservant not to. Wuss.

Have at you!

Evan: "Some heaven! The meek and weak being slaves to the strong? Not my idea of paradise. Origin did well to bring it crashing down."

He furrowed his brow. That emearld's power... He could still feel it, even obscured by the strength of Shen's soul. To think that even her power wouldn't be enough to overcome the darkness upon death, he shuddered. She had wiped the floor with him the last time they had tangled, and with embarassment he was forced to trail behind her as part of a pact he had made with himself.

But if he died? Would he be strong enough to bring himself back to honor that deal? A strong sense of self overcame him...

"Fine, I think I understand now. But if Origin got attacked now, and his system brought down, doesn't that make him a constant potential target? And furthermore, where are we going with such precious cargo?"

---------------

Johnathan: "Ah! I... What did you just do to me?"

He looked at his arm. No marks or burns, or strange symbols anywhere. He looked at Raza. Out cold. He looked at Elysia. No apparent change. He looked at his arm again. No difference. He assessed the quality of his own strength. No permanent changes.

But she HAD taken his strength for a second and used it to amplify her own. Curious.

"More importantly, what did you just do to him?"

I don't think that's canon... Far as I know, Silver Surfer just made a deal with Galactus to never attack Earth. 'Course, this was while SS was in his servitude, and I do believe Silver betrayed Galactus at some point, so I guess the deal is broken and Earth is open for chow down...

Time to research!

EDIT: Nope, SS got trapped on earth after forcing Galactus to not eat earth, Reed Richards freed him. Galactus moved on with life til Surfer rescued one of his heralds, and *officially* set Surfer free.

You realize, according to this article, they haven't gotten permission to do it yet, right?

Well... Yes, actually. I guess living in a fantasy world of my own design and wondering what the results of an extended controlled trial of a scientific experiment that's currently of controversy in the community and therefore worth discussing is non-canon, but then again, I DO read JACK.

But the real question here is what about organisms that have the same number of chromosomes as humans? Number of chromosomes really means nothing, because even in animals of similar number of chromosomes, traits still are represented by different pairs. Just because the numbers match up doesn't mean the genetics themselves will.

How do you make three thousand dollars in nine months?

I am a student, my time is consumed verily by school, and by working as hard as I can to make sure I succeed in everything I do. I train myself to do wondrous things with computers and numbers, and soon I may even expand my horizons still further and attempt to breach the borders of the United States, studying somewhere else for experience and knowledge.

However, I must also pay for my life.

My expenses for the upcoming year just came in. By this september, I must have 3000 dollars in order to pay for my car insurance, my books for school, the cellular phone my parents insisted I have, whatever is left over on my school bill, gas for transportation to my job, and a few other things that I suppose I'll require. I have a job, I do work at Toys R Us, but that's not really all that amazing thus far, since they refuse to give me hours now that the christmas season is over. I expect around march or the middle of february my work will pick up again.

As it stands, I have 77 dollars in my savings account. I can sell my books for some more money, my school billing is screwed up in a manner that suggests that I may have severe subtractions to my bill by september due to a miscalculation in the amount of financial aid I'm receiving, and I have a job lined up this semeseter in the computer department of my university as a maintanence officer (basically, I get 200 bucks every two weeks to make sure the computer's network systems are running properly) as part of a work-study program that will give me some hands-on experience with my field.

Still, I'm nervous. I've vowed never to work for a restaurant again, and the way my job and my studies go, I'm bound severely in the means of getting any kind of job lined up period, so even the networking job I may have coming to me might prove to be ineffective. I'm not taking too many classes this semester fortunately (only four: I had five last semester), and I refuse to live at home and commute (if I can live on campus for almost free, that's better than living at home and spending excess money commuting for half an hour every day), so I'm on my way to saving a good bit of money and time.

Still, does anyone have any tips? Suggestions, things I could do or ways to save pocket money? Every little bit helps.

I like how nearly any discussion on Sonic CD quickly gravitates towards its soundtrack, which is remembered far more and with much more affection than its innovative (for a Sonic game) multi-branching style of play in its levels, a sight which has sadly never been repeated in a Sonic game.

Also, I liked it because I think it's a good bit harder than Sonic 1, 2, or 3.

Well, I'm all right on food... I have a dining hall plan that keeps me well-fed for a minimum in price. And no, Trapster, I don't eat any candy, so I'm pretty good on that.

My computer skills are nowhere near those of some people in my major, but now that I think about it, there are definitely some people I could help, and there is a notfdgdgasdgasg for informal services somewhere on the URI campus. Hell, me and my roommates, people come into our room asking us how to fix their laptops... They do the craziest things to such delicate pieces of equipment, I swear.

Eh, it's just trying to figure out ways to scrounge up as much spare money as I can so that when the moment comes at least the load is lighter.

I could always bring back the good ol' change jar... Last fall that thing brought in a good 50 bucks just from money I had left over from whenver I ended up buying something or from change I found pretty much everywhere.

Heck, I could even sell some of my posessions, right?

But what would people buy...?

Without reading the thread...

It could be either. The short, slim build may be the result of long nights staying up and reading, writing, or devising brilliant ways to present literature to one's pupils, or it could be wrought from long hours behind the wheel of a giant truck, with little opportunity for food or sleep.

The poetry? Well, someone's gotta have something to do in their spare time. Both truck drivers and ivy league professors get a good bit of that to work with.

And I could be stretching this, but, well, what if it's an Ivy League professor that drives a truck? Not all trucks are the big 18 wheel kind that people get paid to drive.

Disclaimer's over.

83 bucks a week... I only get half that currently, and that's not counting gas or any of my other personal expenses (like gas), or even gas.

Man, I really hope Toys R Us starts giving me hours again, my work will really pick up in the spring.

Phil, I like your thinking, but the trouble with that is that none of my posessions really have any personal value. I could sure use an eBay account, too.

I was talking over with my roommate about possibly doing a computer building service freelance, we take money from people to build them custom jobs and keep a stipend of it on the side... Reasonable?

The thing is that I don't DO anything. Like, I don't go out and hang out with my friends, the farthest I go is to the mall to play DDR. I guess I should cut down on that? It'd probably help...

Sticking to dining hall plans and not buying food on my own time would be a huge money saver, though I'd probably gain a good 15 pounds from the shit they serve there... Meh, I'd rather go hungry. And as an end to all means, I'd rather be a few thousand dollars in debt than not be able to go to school. Debts can be repaid. You can't leave a scholarship behind.

Can't wait til Kutske sees this...

Of course it's possible. Hell, it's in fashion nowadays for girls to "save themselves for marriage".

However, that's a rather ignorant answer. DD's got more of a right idea, IMO, with the broadening of sexuality to include any kind of affection. I think a situation like that could be expanded and referred to with a nice episode or two of Fruits Basket. Watch that and you'll see that relationships and attraction can certainly exist without even the barest bit of physical contact between the two parties. It's also an adorable anime.
