english,
foreign language (spanish, french, german, japanese, russian, etc),

hehe...we don't talk about it because in that game, there isn't much to talk about...

Eli meltdown, indeed. I saw each of his picks (including the one called back for pass interference). All of them were bad throws. It appeared he couldn't read the defense or something because they were able to read him. However, I wouldn't place all the blame on him. The running game was going no where as Carolina's Run D showed up for a 2nd straight week. Two weeks before they allowed over 200 yards in ruhsiing. Because of no running game, everything was placed on him...

lots of them in my area You should see the anime club at my university however, otaku isn't limited to just non-asian people it is applied sadly to anyone overly obessive with a certain portion of Japanese culture, which typically is anime in the U.S...

Anyways, Yoronosuku, that looks purdy nice...if you and Nebetsu would look like a couple if you guys wore your respective garments

You can downgrade to Win98, provided you still have the installation CD. Asking the retailer to install Win98 for you instead will not happen as the last Win98 computer that was ever rolled out was back in 1999 (before WinME was released)

Product activation is a valid concern but that usually happens when you buy WinXP seperately from your computer. If you get a packaged deal with a computer maker, you usually don't have to do product activation--i remember with my laptop, I didn't have to do product activation.

As for DOS programs running in XP, you probably do want to stick with 98. But there are DOS emus for XP so it would depend on the game you are playing. But if you insist with sticking with 98, there is no problems installing it. You just have to do a little more work on your own end to get it to work, which isn't too bad.

To help your english along, beneficii was talking about buying a new PC, the words "The computer I am looking for would probably have Windows XP already installed," infer a new computer. Why would upgrading your own computer that has Win98, all of a sudden have WinXP installed?

Anyways, dual booting is another option--where you run both Win98 and WinXP. But I find it a drag to have to switch OS just to play a game. Plus, if the computer already comes with WinXP, you would have to install Win98, then install WinXP. If you get packaged deals from HP, Dell, and company, highly unlikely you actually will have a WinXP installation CD.

Yup. I was able to exploit a 1MB/s download on a PIII-833MHz at my library workplace. I remember getting 800KB/s from Princeton...more than 5,000 miles from my school

Turns out I don't need to go down this route to solve my earlier problem. However, I've now run into another scrolling problem.

The following is my code to move a cursor:

void CMyView::MoveCursor(CDC* pDC, DWORD dwNewCursorPos)
{
DWORD dwOldCursorPos = m_dwCursor;
m_dwCursor = dwNewCursorPos;

// Get Old Cursor Rect
RECT rOldCursor;
m_dvHexView->GetCursorRect(pDC, dwOldCursorPos, &rOldCursor);
rOldCursor.top -= 10;
rOldCursor.left -= 10;
rOldCursor.bottom += 10;
rOldCursor.right += 10;

// Get New Cursor Rect
RECT rNewCursor;
m_dvHexView->GetCursorRect(pDC, m_dwCursor, &rNewCursor);
rNewCursor.top -= 10;
rNewCursor.left -= 10;
rNewCursor.bottom += 10;
rNewCursor.right += 10;

// Do necessary scrolling
RECT clip;
pDC->GetClipBox(&clip);

int nDeltaY = 0;
/*
if(clip.bottom < rNewCursor.bottom)
{
nDeltaY = -2 * (int)(m_dvHexView->GetLineHeight(pDC));
ScrollWindow(0, nDeltaY);
}
else if(rNewCursor.top < clip.top)
{
nDeltaY = 2 * m_dvHexView->GetLineHeight(pDC);
ScrollWindow(0, nDeltaY);
}
*/

// Convert to Client (Device) Coordinates
rOldCursor.top -= (clip.top + nDeltaY);
rOldCursor.left -= clip.left;
rOldCursor.bottom -= (clip.top + nDeltaY);
rOldCursor.right -= clip.left;

rNewCursor.top -= (clip.top + nDeltaY);
rNewCursor.left -= clip.left;
rNewCursor.bottom -= (clip.top + nDeltaY);
rNewCursor.right -= clip.left;

InvalidateRect(&rOldCursor);
InvalidateRect(&rNewCursor);
}

In the commented out region is code that tries to scroll the window manually if the cursor is out of view. However, I can't seem to call the right functions to make it work. The result of running the commented code (i.e. calling ScrollWindow) causes scrolling to occur but no redrawing in the areas that are brought in. (Side Note: I still haven't figured out how to call "repaint()" in the WinAPI ). Could anyone point me in the right direction to get scrolling to work? I tried to post my own WM_VSCROLL message but that doesn't seem to work as if I click on the scroll bar, things are correct.

i'm surprised he didn't get his diploma rescinded...because I'm sure that was against school policy. Although the hoopla that would come about would probably not be worth it... At my graduation, we had to get our diplomas after the ceremony

I have a laptop with a batter that doesn't even last one power button press...

this is why I'm paranoid about my iPod and adamant about depleting the battery before attempting another charge.
