I know you can use the split function to split strings into an array, but im not sure if you can use split to actually half the string without some delimiter, such as a space, or any other letter or symbol right at the halfway point of the string...so if you did want it like that you could do:

dim arry() as string
arry = Split (strng, " "), but that will split the string at every space, you can change the delimiter to whatever, but I dont think split can do halves, ill look for a specific function for you though.

Why is any object we don't understand always called "a thing"?

Posted on 03-20-06 03:12 PM, in Getting an older Proliant Server soon Link
Im getting an older Compaq Proliant server from my step dads boss later on today, or if not, sometime this week, all I know about it is that it has smart array RAID 3x9GB SCSI drives...ill get the other specs later.

what im wondering is a couple things.

What Linux or unix distro should I put on the thing?
and
What do you think I should use it for?

the guy said its a good linux/bsd hacking box, although im not really into hacking, so that probably wont happen...and I dont really have enough bandwidth or transfer to use it as a webserver, since I have a Cable internet connection and only around 10GB of upload per month.

so im just thinking ill either install a linux distro, and mess around with linux or unix, and also open it up and take a look at the hardware, or use it as a dev machine, always wanted to try development on linux.

I was either thinking Red Hat, Ubuntu, or FreeBSD, in that order of what I want more. it will probably be Red Hat.

considering I dont really like microsoft, although I dont really like apple at all either, I would pick the microsoft box, looks alot better, and has information on it. not to mention it actually looks better.

yeah...although im pretty sure the person im getting the server from has red hat, since ive heard him say thats what hes used, or uses, maybe I can get it from him, or ill either use Ubuntu, or even Fedora.

Edit: Well I got it last night, and installed Fedora Core 4 on it, it has 2 550mhz processors, 256MB Ram, and 11GB of free space, time to mess around with it

im pretty sure you can add a switch that will activate when a certain item is aquired, I havent messed around with RM2k in awhile, but look around in the switches, and there should be an option to switch it on when certain item is aquired and stuff.

Morrowind! I was playing the Game of the year edition on xbox, and a whole town pretty much disappeared until I reloaded my game. the map still had all the buildings on it, but when you look around, almost all of them were either in pieces or gone.
