It's possible that the re-compressed data might be larger if the compressor is not as efficient as Nintendo's.

Seems similar to Mario Kart's polygon format which I believe is based on a standardized format.

typedef struct {
short XPos;
short YPos;
short ZPos;
short TextureCoordS;
short TextureCoordT;
unsigned char RedTint;
unsigned char GreenTint;
unsigned char BlueTint;
char Unknown3;
} MK64PolygonData;

Hit detection probably works similar to Wind Waker; I've seen people render the collision maps of that game for beta levels with no actual polygon data. Unfortunately Mario Kart doesn't appear to work anything like that (not sure how it does work), so I can't help you there.

I think the feather looks pretty good. Not much of this has a lot to do with Acmlm though.

Still, I guess I could go and wear a shirt that said "Capital Z, damnit!" - that way, those people who would understand and thus hopefully be interested in talking to me would be those people I'd be interested in talking to.

Holy shit, I was wondering where you went.

A convention doesn't have to be like 500 people. 20 is good! I dunno, doesn't have to be superlarge, anyway.

I think a 20-person convention is called a party. Especially one that involves this much booze.

Honestly the only part of his posts that bother me are the run-on sentences. I don't think I'd care much if someone posted a nice hack or some useful info but made a minor mistake like not capitalizing I.

SM64 doesn't use MP3, it uses a form of MIDI. The N64 is certainly powerful enough for MP3 (some Rare games use it), maybe not at a high bitrate but that'd be wasted on the rather weak sound hardware anyway. However, the way games like Mario 64 waste CPU power I'd worry that even if someone totally re-wrote the sound system to use MP3s, it'd be too slow running alongside the game itself.

It'd be interesting nonetheless to try to hack MP3 support into an N64 game, but don't count on seeing it in an SM64 editor any time soon. Also, possible licensing issues arise... I'd suggest OGG or FLAC instead, but OGG takes even more CPU power to decode and FLAC, being lossless, makes huge files.

That's what I'd have thought, but it's always zero. (Or 0xFF, I can't remember... either way it's always a specific value, and changing it doesn't seem to do anything.) I think it's just padding.

Once I was eating a big cookie of some sort, and just as I was about to take a bite (like an inch from my mouth) a BIG FUCKING SPIDER landed on it. Being about 6 years old I nearly shit myself. Didn't open my mouth in that room for months.

Also around the same age I had the bright idea of pouring a glass of orange juice before bed, taking a sip, and leaving it sitting on the bedside table. The next morning I went to finish it and it looked more like a bar of soap than a drink. The smell alone was nauseating.

There are other filenames like that in Windows NT-based systems, such as $UpCase. (They all start with a dollar sign, and I think it only works in the root of the drive.) It'll tell you the file already exists but you can never see it listed or open it; in reality it does exist but because it's so important it's hidden by the filesystem driver.

I've also seen those fake scanners that claim you have viruses and then (despite claiming to be free) ask for some huge amount of money to remove them.

What's even worse is anti-virus programs that cause more problems than the viruses themselves. Ahem, Norton.

zOMG! And it's called Windows... just like the things in the walls that I look through! So Windows Vista = Windows Sight... MICROSOFT IS PLOTTING TO SPY ON OUR WINDOWS!

Next we'll have DRMed windows that can only be washed with Microsoft-approved window cleaner and don't allow more than one person to look through them at a time.

All the hotels I've gone to have free wifi, but for some reason still require a login through their web site, which makes it impossible to use a Nintendo DS on it.

I imagine it has some sort of coding to prevent it running on older versions. But expect many people to write open-source clones soon enough.
