Fads are best used sparingly. It's like the difference between sitting around and being pointless and dumb with your friends and doing something interesting (or at least having a more substantial conversation). I generally prefer interesting conversation, but just letting loose and yelling random movie lines, stupid fart jokes, etc. back and forth is fun once in a while.

I don't remember citrus-flavored Crystal Pepsi at all. And I've never tried Pepsi Blue. What exactly did that taste like? I almost always stick to diet pop because regular tastes gross and syrupy to me now, so I miss out on the weird limited edition flavors unless they come in a diet version. I do remember trying regular Vanilla Coke and not liking it too much because the OMG SYRUP overpowered the OMG VANILLA. But when the diet version came out, I was hooked.

I was super spamming just because I could and because there were a bunch of people feeling zany. It's the same reason I'll start yelling random doofy crap and acting like an imbecile if I'm hanging out with friends and we're all doing it. It might be a pointless waste of time, and it's not the form of activity that you usually wish to participate in, but if the mood is right, it's fun while it lasts.

And there is good stuff in those monster threads, like the pyramids of cliches and silly video game quotes. And the echoes from the repeated instances of Peanut Butter Jelly Time.

I don't think it will be much of a problem. The spam was limited to the threads about happy hour. I didn't see it spreading around the board, and I didn't see anybody trying to start it up again after the nutty threads got moved to Lost Threads or closed.

I also wanted to tell Skydude (and anyone else that might feel guilty about encouraging mass quantities of pointless posts) that no apologies are necessary. Like I just said, the spam was contained. It's not like it derailed high-quality threads elsewhere. So maybe it did skew the ACS for a day, but I hardly think that that's anything to be concerned about. If anybody really feels bad about contributing to the zaniness, just come up with more ideas for quality content and don't think of any more fads for a while.

Yeah. Spam night was successful because of a juxtaposition of unique factors:

- Approval from the management (as evidenced by Xkeeper's "What if I told you I never left?" post and his permitting the spam to go on without putting thread restrictions back on...and the ginormous counter and progress bar)
- A bunch of people who were in the mood to go nutzoid
- A stated challenge (the progress bar) with no indication of what would happen if the challenge was won
- A reward (the obvious coin bounty)

People like to try to do things just to see if they can, and notice that people (yeah, me included) were making stupid posts to try to get the 2000th post in happy hour. "I bet you can't" is surprisingly persuasive. The unknown outcome of winning the 2000 post challenge was persuasive as well.

Somehow I am getting the idea that this was all a psychology experiment for school. Or maybe just for fun.

I think we can. Being silly on the board puts people in a good mood about being on the board, and that encourages them to post more. When you feel positive about the board, you tend to see more conversation and threads of interest. You feel inclined to participate.

That's the case with me right now, at least.

Freya and I used to refer to Taco Bell as Taco Heim des Teufels. We were passing notes in German and I couldn't remember how to say "hell", so I wrote "home of the devil" instead. She was highly amused (she speaks German with native fluency - I don't, though she thinks I do quite well for someone who learned it as a second language), and the name stuck.

I worked at Taco Hell for two years (yay first high school job), so I think I have permission to call it that. I loved the food and got along with my coworkers pretty well, but it was a lot of work for not very much money, and of course we'd get asshats every now and then. Oh well. I still like the food, though.

emcee, I'm glad you're amused by my Engrish.

True, but in my view, increased activity is an order of magnitude below OMGPOSTPOSTPOST!!11!eleventy. I do find myself in more of a talkative mood, but if another insane thread took off, I don't think I'd be interested.

One time while driving around with friends, we came across a street called Nipple Way. Unfortunately, we didn't have a camera (but it was late at night, so I don't know how well the picture would have turned out), and the sign was too high up and close to civilization to steal.

Crunchwraps..
Well, I either worked the front cash register or drive-thru, and there was always something to be done when I wasn't taking orders. For example, as a front cashier, I had to keep the dining room clean and the trash from overflowing, and unless it was a busy time of day and they had someone else on the other register, I'd have to keep running back and forth to try to clean up between customers. I'd also have to help with other random tasks like doing the dishes and making bags of nachos and cinnamon twists. That sort of thing is jokingly easy when you can actually work until you're done, but between customers, it's annoying as hell.

As far as drive-thru goes, I rarely had someone taking orders for me, and we didn't have headphones. I had to try to decipher the speaker and make drinks and get bags ready and deal with the window all at the same time, and one putz or car with umpty bazillion separate orders would hold up the entire mess.

I should also mention that when I turned eighteen, I was legally permitted to work double shifts without a break. Sometimes I'd come in for a Sunday day shift and one of the closers would call off, and I'd be stuck there for 12+ hours with nothing special to show for it but a free meal that I couldn't even clock out for a full break to eat.

Some fast food places actually have all of the stations manned by individual employees. This was never the case at either of the Taco Bells I worked at.

That happened to one of my coworkers. Repeatedly. Taco Bell has never given me any digestive problem, but we hypothesize that maybe it's because I don't eat meat. (And my system is very well used to beans, so that wouldn't be likely to give me a problem either.) I've heard multiple stories of Taco Bell meat not agreeing with people. Rando eats meat in general, but he doesn't like Taco Bell beef because it seems too oily and gross to him. So we both get bean tacos whenever we make a run for the border.

I have only the most vague idea of where that sign was. On that particular night, we were sign scavenging in central PA. We got Cocolamus (which I wound up with and still have - huzzah) and Maze (which my friends took and unfortunately lost during a move). We drove through Academia (too high up to steal, so everyone - myself excluded because my peener only exists online - whizzed on Academia instead) and Mexico. So all I can tell you is that the mysterious nipple street is somewhere in that sleepy corner of the state.

I can't handle greasy food any more. I used to love greasy pizza, but the last time I ate it in any significant quantity, I was cranky later that night. It just sits in my stomach like a miserable rock.

I have no idea what bran does to me, but it probably wouldn't affect me that much because I already eat a lot of fiber. It would probably just taste like a more boring version of my favorite cereal.
