Yeah, NSNick sucks. What with his constant influx of rampant sexual activity and access to the largest college campus in the country, more than likely filled with beautiful women, many of which would be more than willing to sleep with him should his girlfriend ever decide he's not good enough for her, alongside his amazing tolerance for alcohol and genius mathematical skills.

Yes, ladies and gents, NSNick blows. >8(

Posted on 12-25-05 09:35 PM, in "A Very SF Christmas" Link
T’was the night before Christmas, and through the SF,
Not a fighter was stirring, as was the holiday pref.
Grey sat in his office, asleep for the twilight,
And Garro and Kalar had no reason to fight.
But one lay awake in a perilous vigil,
Janus, whose six-hour sleep limit left no sigil.
He sat in a lounge chair in the SBA&C,
As his head filled with thoughts of gifts and Yiusi.
When suddenly his repose was disrupted in suit,
And his attention, to the window, he paid much tribute.
A foe! He did think, and his hammer flew true,
Striking the window and bludgeoning as it went through.
And as Janus proudly looked through the broken glass,
His pride changed to anguish: He had kicked Santa’s ass!
The fat man lay, cold-cocked, in the newfallen snow,
So Janus could do no less than jump down below…
“Hey there!” Janus shouted, but to no avail,
Santa was out: his attack sadly walked the path of prevail.
‘But who will give toys to the good little kids?’
Janus thought as he dragged Santa’s body through the skids.
And then Janus had an idea for redemption;
One that would be easy to put into ascension.
He eyed the great robe: it’d be easy to take,
Just sub that old sack for Satchel, goodness’ sake!
Janus leapt up to the sleigh, parked on the Board’s roof,
28 floors later, and Janus was poof!
He made a quick list of the places he’d go,
And soon delivered so well that it was easy to know.
It was easy to do when you knew how to stop time,
Much easier for him than it is for me to rhyme.
Janus visited his bestest friends first,
All were good people, never the worst.
For Schwa, he decided, a blindfold’d be best,
He knew the Psi Warrior’s old, battered one needed a rest.
Star, he decided, got a sheath for his blade,
Getting him a new sword just wouldn’t make the grade.
Yiusi was tough, Janus knew that very much,
The perfect gift for her was a delicate touch.
His gift was one that showed he had the heart full of prose,
An enchanted diamond necklace, and a single white rose.
For Kirbynite, who called the great Dreamlander his pops,
A grip for his star rod, and a slew of seeds for his crops.
For Jarukoth, now intent on family life,
A new katana to help protect his wife.
For Melvin, the boy-genius of curves and cracks,
An industrial-size barrel of giant robot hot wax.
For Sensae, nothing particularly of note,
Just a manifesto that the very first Psi Warriors wrote.
JDavis, whose friends came from every place,
Got a book on how to learn the Slick Trick with grace.
Even Zerodius got a good gift,
A one-time coupon for a plothole-sealing rift.
For Grey, though Janus and he had conflict,
A bag for his marbles, and a cute stuffed Torchic.
For Garro, the faith-dealing warrior of precision,
A new bulletproof pocket-encyclopedia of religion.
For Kalar, that dark, shadowy, lovable lug,
A new suit, torn, worn, that fit like a hug.
For Origin, whose tower stood high off the earth,
A can of spear polish, to increase his weapon’s worth.
Odin and Fenrir, who fought atop every steeple,
Each got “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”.
Nijote the assassin, whose career was at rest,
Got a small gold bracelet for teaching Janus to try his best.
And Teddylot, Zap, and Twister would be glad:
For their services a brand new Xbox 360 (that actually worked, mind you) could be had.
All through the night Janus delivered each package,
And did it without Santa’s degree of snackage.
When finally he finished he slumped down in a chair,
Back in the SBA&C, out of the cold night air.
It was then that Santa, who he had neatly stashed,
Atop a nearby table, came to, quite abashed.
“You nitwit!” he said, “You, sir, have been naughty!
Next time you think you’re in danger don’t be so haughty!
But, I digress, tonight you’ve done good,
My job’s still on schedule, so I cannot brood.”
“So Santa,” Janus said, “What about me?
Do I get a gift for my service to, uh, thee?”
Santa Claus smiled and gave him a wink,
Produced a small package and said, “What do you think?”
Janus grinned and opened it, proud of his goal,
But widened his eyes when he saw only a lump of coal.
“Relax,” Santa said, “The real one’s in the morning,
Good little kids go to bed before the sun’s dawning.”
He laughed his fat belly, and smiled his cheek,
And disappeared in a puff like an elfish little sneak.
Janus wearily exhaled, knowing he had lost the fight,
But still, Happy Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night!

Merry Christmas, you guys.

Posted on 12-26-05 01:08 AM, in Merry christmas Link
Two minutes before midnight, and I'm making a post in this..... A story:

When I was small, my family did not have much money at all. We were poor. Very poor. We lived in a 2 room shack in West Warwick, and each christmas, though I didn't know it at the time, was not always a merry one. My mother worked hard with my stepfather to keep us clothed and fed, and it happened, but we were never really provided for on the subject of toys at christmas. Nevertheless, we were too young to know, so we were not bothered by it.

But one year, when I was four, we were very low on money. I myself would have gotten only a small toy or two from my parents that year, because times were tough, and unbeknownst to me at the time, my parents were planning on having a third child.

So, christmas morning comes, I'm happy, my older sister is happy, and we go out into the living room, to find our parents ready to give us the gifts they had worked so hard to give us. And we were glad with what we had. However, it was then that we all heard a strange noise...

It was a siren. A fire truck siren. My older sister and I rushed to the window to see the truck...

On top of the truck, pimped out in the baddest red gear you could see, with a shoad of presents with our names on it, was the big man, Santa Claus himself. He burst into our house with his helpers, carrying mounds and mounds of toys, all for my older sister and I. Action figures, dolls, stuffed animals, our living room went from being a few pieces of furniture and a tree to a cacaphony of brightly colored gift wrap, piles of toys and clothes, and the very glad, widely smiling faces of a pair of toddlers who were driven to ecstacy because Santa Claus himself had come to them, they were such good little kids that year.

It... It was a charity fund, turns out... We were below the poverty line, and a local charity had given to us the lot of toys we had received that year. It was the greatest christmas I had ever had, and it was on the hands of every good-hearted person in Warwick that had felt the need to donate to us that year. It truly is a debt I can never repay.

Please, everyone on Acmlm's. Remember just what Christmas is about, remember the need to give. Jesus, whether you believe he was the son of god or not, gave his life, the ultimate gift in the name of helping everyone he loved, and we symbolize that not by buying toys and games and dolls for everyone, but by GIVING them to people. That's the important part, is to give. Be charitable. If you have spare change, or a few extra bucks to spare, then by all means, give it to someone. Feel the joy of putting someone else before yourself, and you will feel what christmas is really about. The goodness of the people who give helped change my life. I will never stop giving back.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hannukah, Happy New year, all of those things. Just... Happy Holidays. Whatever you celebrate, I hope it's the best that you can get out of it.

I'm confused as to what this implies.

Like, that monster, it's got tentacles, and it's bearing down on a small girl-type figure.

But it's also a giant robot. Of sorts.

I.... well, Kirbynite's gonna laugh at this, but I wanna cut back on Caffeine severely. If NSNick's the board drunkard, I'm definitely the board's caffeine-head. You all may say you drink a lot of caffeine, but I actually experience health problems from it at times. Plus, I drink it to alter my personality (make me hyper, etc) and be a different person. It's horrible for you, and it shrinks your heart and other organs too (I guess that's why I've been such a bitch lately...).

So, cut back. That's my resolution.

Geh.... I don't like ITG too much, but I guess the fact that EE's using it as his training vehicle means I'm going to have to step things up a bit if I want to keep up with him. Too bad I've done most of the 9s on my local DDR machine and only have the high end Paranoias and Maxes standing in my way.

It's like some kind of plateau, the jump between the normal songs and the ZOMG RED RED RED songs is amazing. I'm almost prepared to just stop getting better and be happy at 9 feet.

I drew a crowd today, after all...

Neoconservatism on a whole isn't really that impressive of a movement. A lot of the arguments have just as many holes in them as the liberal side of most of the "debates" that go on across the internet.

The difference between the two is primarily in attitude.

Recently, a paper was published at my university called "The Grand Old Paper". It was an obviously republican, pro-pro-pro-pro-right wing newspaper. It bashed the normal newspaper for having a liberal bias, presented several articles with arrogant overtones about the usual issues (gay marriage, affirmative action, abortion, How Awesome Bush Is And You All Need To Realize That, war on terror, bullshit article about how the liberals properly disposed of a flag, big front page article that implied that women were an inherently weaker sex, etc), featuring incorrect information that's close enough to the facts to warrant speculation, ambiguous statements, and expanded and manipulated use of statistics. In short, it was like a filibuster on newsprint. And it PISSED PEOPLE OFF. BADLY.

The normal newspaper is considered "Liberal". In fact, many of the writers on the school newspaper's staff are republicans, middle-standers, conservatives, and a smattering of liberals, all of which would rather, you know, research and inform rather than inflate and agitate with their sensationalist writing. The newspaper is normally very unbiased, and normally brings the subjects of its media (government, school, students) to bear with the facts. In other words, you do bad stuff, the bad stuff you do is going to make you look bad because it's going to be truthfully informed. The same applies to good stuff.

My point is this: Emcee's got it. Getting people's attention, agitating, and angering is what both sides of politics today are all about. The media (well, except maybe FOX News) shouldn't be labeled as conservative or liberal or biased or anything like that, if they're doing their job correctly. If they're informing and inquiring, and it all comes out to a flat show of the facts. Any publications out there that do this, I applaud and recognize.

Everything else? They can go screw.

I'd be the old man who acts as a sort of master to the main characters in the beginning, and then when he joins you as a formal party member you've pretty much caught up with him in skill so he's about equal with the rest of your party. I'd probably die at some point, too as some kind of inspiring plot device. Or, if I stayed alive, my piece of the story would end about halfway through and I'd just kinda be the party member that stands there, fights, and occasionally tosses off one-liners.

Or maybe I'd be the Turks villain schtick. Recurring, not really all that bad, about equal in power to the party, motivated by something else, may eventually join the good guys, doesn't care too much about his job. Shit, the only reason I'd HAVE the job is because of the theme song. And yes, it would be blues/slow jazz fusion. Just because I'd be that much of a fan-favorite.

And for choice #3, I'd be the character who sporadically shows up here and there, Meta-knight style, helps out and keeps the heroes alive when all seems lost, and eventually winds up as an unlockable character. But only after an excessively challenging battle against him, and even then it's an optional fight that you only get to try once. But I'd be worth it if you win.

Eh, going back to what Emcee said, it's not that I drink a lot of coffee for caffeine, I actually like the taste of coffee... I live in Rhode Island, after all (our state drink is coffee milk). It's all the soda I drink that really gets me. If anything, I'll start by switching to decaf, yeah, but the key here is to stop drinking so much soda...

*looks at his desk and the litre bottle of Mountain Dew + cans of Pepsi -- all empty*

Yeah, it's a long road ahead.

We're talking rendering billions of individual spherical models here... It'll take one shithell of a graphics card even if they're only byte-sized spheres.

As for unrealism in things like clothing and characters in textures, and the use of physics to invite realism, I invite you to look at Half Life 2. Two years in the making, and they've so far created what I like to believe is the most realistic human character model there is out there. In the opening sequence in particular, when G-Man is talking about waking up and being in the right place at the wrong time, the detail on his face made it very clear that they meant business in the graphical department. The individual pores on his ugly doesn't-seem-quite-human face were rendered. You could see everything about him, and it's the same way with nearly every character in the game.

The physics engine is also very impressive for the time. In a world where nearly every object and piece of debris is interactable, it's interesting to see that they've actively applied weights to all of these objects and tried to factor them into gravity, motion, left, and drop. There are times when you're wondering why it seems so unrealistic (like when you're picking up metal crates, dropping them, and watching them slide), but for the most part it's a very well done system, especially in terms of the ragdoll body physics.

So Kutske, if you haven't played HL2, pick it up and realize that through alternate means, we're actually closer to your dream than you'd think.

What about....

Tracking: Make things seem clearer or more confusing to the world around you. Someone's not understanding you? TRACKING ADJUSTMENT! Whatever you say will become totally clear to the person you're talking to. Similarly, you can use it to bullshit people by messing with life's tracking and making yourself incomprehensible.

Channel Set: Easy enough, just flip the channel and you jump to a parallel dimension of the world you're in, in the same location, same geography, just everything else about it is changed and anything changed because of the initial changes is instated on the world. If you happen to be endangered by the jump, you're forced back into the world you're in at the moment, too.

SP/LP/SLP: Double or triple your lifespan, at the cost of quality of living.

Nah, I'd still take rewind.
