Bah. I've been discussing it on AIM with Danielle and it's sapped my posting fuel.


I have two very important words though. Civil rights.

Unless the state declares the boy legally insane, they can't force medication upon him. I forsee this case ending in favor of the family AND setting a good precedent.

I was less angry with the social services after I learned his cancer was Hodegkins' Lymphoma, which is very treatable, but only because I could kinda see it thier way.

The state is also afraid of highly publicized cases in which patients seek alternative medicine treatments because they consider such things to be voodoo quackery and don't want people getting ideas.

Ultimately, though, it's none of my or anyone else's business how a person who is obviously mature enough to make his own decisions chooses to seek treatment. It doesn't potentially hurt anyone but him. We have the right to make such choices in America, and it pisses me off when anyone abuses the judiciary system with foolish cases for the purpose of bullying people.

My little brother used to leave the peanut butter open so that the little black ants (they're called pissants around here) would crawl in. He liked them on his sandwiches. It always pissed me off.

Not necessarily. If you live somewhere where they are a problem you can be clean and still have them in your house. They're gonna go /somewhere/ looking for food. Usually they aren't all over though, just in a specific line. They may not even be feeding on things in the house but using it as the shortest path between two points. Ants dig that sort of thing.

Black ants aren't so bad, Alastor. I draw the line at fire ants though. Horrible little creatures, and I'm allergic to them. I enjoy killing them with gasoline. Sure, it leaves a brown spot on the lawn... but it's more fun to watch than using poison or crushed diatoms.

I go progresso soup. It's really good and you get large portions without being heavy on the calories and junk. Have to watch my calorie intake these days... since I've magically turned OLD and don't really run or work out like I used to.

Super Glue is non-toxic. I use it for cuts on my hands all the time and have used it for emergency dental work to hold until I could see the dentist.

What's really sad is the fact that this family is now having to pay all kinds of legal fees on top of the cost of all of thier other misfortune. That just really fucking sucks.
