| I've seen a few articles around for this for the past two days, but hadn't read one till today.
The Nissan URGE will have an Xbox in it, and you will be able to play games such as Project Gotham Racing 3 using the car's steering wheel, pedals, etc Yep. Interesting concept. I'm guessing an actual car would probably "feel" better to play games with than some of those steering wheel controllers. Would rather a PlayStation and Gran Turismo though

Remember that not every Windows application will just *work* in Darwine (or any WINE implementation for that matter). | What a lot of people don't realise is -- Suicide, more often than not is a symptom of a larger disease -- often Depression. (in the Clinical sense, not a case of the sads...)
A lot of people think that Suicide is a selfish act as well; but that isn't always the case either -- although it's certainly how it appears from the outside. Many people who are considering suicide feel that their death would benefit other people, because then they would no longer be burdening their loved ones. They may feel that they are an emotional burden, and Depression can get to the point where the Depressed person is dependent upon others. They may not be able to contribute financially, work, help around the house, etc. This only serves to compound the feelings that they are a burden. This would technically make their motivations not selfish but altruistically motivated. Misguided.... but still... Now, I am not condoning suicide, but I think that there needs to be a better understanding of it. I think it needs to be better understood that it's usually a symptom of Depression. I think people need to make efforts to better understand Depression, and how to recognise and help people with it. I think people need to stop thinking that just because you can't see an illness that somebody has that it doesn't exist, or is "made up". I also think that people need to stop seeing people with Depression (or any mental illness) as "crazy". I think if people were more aware of, and better with helping people with Depression then maybe there wouldn't be so much Suicide. |

| I still think you guys are missing the point I made about suicide being a (very serious) symptom of Depression.
Now, Depression comes with a bunch of fairly serious cognitive distortions (aka false or irrational ways of thinking). What distortions you happen to get if you get Depression are pretty unique to you. BUT what they will pretty universally do is warp your thinking to the point where... * if you're told that people care about you, you won't believe them, or you'll demand to know why. -- and if you're told why you'll shoot down every reason that is given * if you're told that there are things to live for, you'll shoot down every reason given * if they're told that they'll hurt people by killing themselves, they'll counter that nobody cares etc etc etc. The problem with cognitive distortions is that if you're affected, your "truths" are completely and utterly different from somebody without that distortion. It may become an "unquestionable truth" that you're a "useless human being" due to a cognitive distortion. The people who are considering suicide most likely are not rational. And that's where this seems to get all fucked up -- from the outside, you guys give a bunch of rational reasons why they shouldn't or are fucked up or whatever for doing it. But in that person's head, they are NOT THINKING RATIONALLY. Depression fucks with your head. It fucks with the way you think, it warps the way you think so that you think things that you wouldn't normally think. I gave one example before with the burden thing, but that's only ONE example of what cognitive distortion will do to you. What ticks me off about this thread is that people keep placing rational qualifiers to people who commit Suicide as if it was a rational act. IT'S NOT. It is, as I stated before, a symptom of clinical Depression. And the sooner people understand that, and understand Clincal Depression, the sooner people can HELP others with this, and maybe even PREVENT suicides.

I think I mentioned other mental illnesses in my first post but I was very drunk when I wrote the last one and made some omissions. I suffer from Unipolar Depression also so it's easier to speak from my point of view. For the record, I've had suicidal thoughts and been in a suicidal state. I can tell you now, once you kinda "come to your senses" afterwards, and remember being in that state, it is FUCKING SCARY. Particularly for the loss of control you have in that state. Australia still has download caps. There was a period where there was a lot of "unlimited" stuff, but most of that seems to have disappeared now.

Some places stop your internet entirely when you reach a cap. Others charge you a ridiculous amount when you exceed a cap. I like what my ISP does -- it packet shapes you down to much much slower speeds. I like my ISP, but then they are fairly reasonable with caps and such. Some ISP's are very deceptive with their pricing and caps and such. Some aren't so bad. Meh.

It IS pretty big, as other people have mentioned, but I guess the real thing I have a problem with is the scrolliness.

Not a good thing. Not as much of a problem as it used to be; with more and more people getting broadband, but still inconsiderate. Smaller picture, please. There are some very cool things you can do without using such big pictures

Well, now they're actually recommending that people install the unofficial patch. I think it's been tested and the binary actually does what the source code says it does and such, so I dunno.... Microsoft still preparing their own patch but that won't be till next week.... meh. | |||||||||||||||||||
