bandwidth cap is one thing, download speed is another -- fortunately, SBC doesn't have a bandwidth cap, otherwise I wouldn't have choosen it as a service. I rather download slower, knowing I can download as much as I can versus knowing I can only download no more than either 4 or 8 DVDs worth of data. I run through one 25 DVD5 spindle in about three weeks

that should work...
see if your computer can ping your sister's computer (from your computer). To do that you do 1) Start->Run->"cmd" 2) ping 192.168.1.102 If you can ping your sisters, then you are in good shape. Anyways, that service pack 2 raises a flag. Even though you say you have no firewall, did you include the built in WinXP firewall? To check to see if that is enabled go to Control Panel->Security Center. WinXP firewall should be OFF. If it is on, then you should turn it off. Then try to access your sister's computer again from your computer. If the WinXP firewall is really OFF, then let's check your sister's network connection properties. Go to Start->Control Panel->Network Connections. Right click on the LAN connection that is the network, and select properties. In the general tab, in the box that is labeled "This connection uses the following items", make sure there is "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP". Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on "Settings" in the "Windows Firewall" Section--that should popup a new dialog box. In the general tab, "Off" should be selected. If you've gone through all this and everything checks out, check to see if both computers are on the same workgroup. Although, if one computer can see the other, this should be the case. But to eliminate that possibility of where the trouble is, check it by doing the following: 1) Window Key+Break (or right click on My Computer and select properties OR Start->Control Panel->System) 2) Go to "Computer Name" Tab 3) Verify that the workgroup is the same. If you have done everything I've said, then I'm not sure how to help you now, short of telling you to switch your sisters computer to WinXP Pro. |

Are you able to get a password dialog? In order for me to access files on a Win2K computer, I get a dialog box. I then enter in my username and password that exists on that Win2K box. If you aren't getting a password dialog, what exactly is windows saying? (edited by neotransotaku on 12-29-05 04:34 PM) |

there is a reason behind every dislike but for some people here, I guess it is quite subtle...
for me, I have an iPod because I have a need for it. I commute like mad so I need something that passes the time. For others, they really don't need it but still have one anyways. |

Try this: Make an account on your sister's computer with the same username and password as there is on the computer you are accessing from. WinXP Home has simple file sharing so everyone should be able to access it. But maybe because of SP2, you actually need to have an account on it. It is a long shot but worth a try.

Heh, I didn't know it was so rampant.
For those people that play around like that, they probably won't be able to land in a meaningful relationship in the end and end up divorcing several times. Those people can do it because they can get away with it, which is why it happens. That is sort of one reason why I can't really trust just anyone and it is so hard to find someone who is "right" |

Originally posted by Jin Dogan On your sisters computer.. 1) Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. This opens a window that lists the user accounts on a computer. Therefore, you should see your sister's account on that. 2) Under "Pick a Task" (which should be above the list of user accounts on the computer), select "Create a new account" 3) In "Name the new account", enter the username of that on YOUR computer of the account you are accessing from. For example, if you useraccount on your computer is "JinDogan", then enter "JinDogan". 4) Once you enter the username, click on "Next" 5) In "Pick an account type", select "Computer Adminstrator" and click on "Create Account". The username should now appear in the list of user accounts mentioned before. 6) If you have a password for the account with the same name on the your computer, then you will need to add a password. Click on the account, select something that says add a password. 7) Enter in the password exactly like what you have on YOUR computer (remember, you are doing all this account adding stuff on your SISTER'S computer). 8) Fill in the remaining information as you please. 9) Make the changes and you have now created your username and password on your sisters computer. 10) Go try to access the files on your SISTER'S computer from YOUR computer. |

Um...there is a difference between Memory and HD space. I'm going to assume you are running out of HD space because you said you wanted an HD.
The type of HD you want depends on how you are going to be using the HD. If you are going to be using the HD as a backup of your stuff as in "I want backup copy but I'm not going to use it as a main drive", then external is a good choice. Otherwise, you ALWAYS want internal. External drives are ridiculously slow, even with a Firewire/IEEE.1394 or USB connection between the drive and the computer. Therefore, your choice should be an internal HD if you are going to be using it has a main drive. Oh, by main drive I mean you are going to read and save data off of it constantly. There are good HD deals out there. 250GB right now run less than $75 |

Will it be enough to have them finish 2nd, let alone 1st? I will consider it progress if the Jays finish 2nd. They had a strong run in 2005 so maybe it will be more than enough. Out of all of the teams in the AL East, the Jays have been consistenly 3rd the past few years...

My mom ordered something a little before christmas--it got here in a day an a half maybe it has to do with ordering before 2:00PM PST (5:00 EST)? You cut off one day of waiting if you order before that time... |
