So far, I've only edited some of Mario/Luigi's graphics and palettes.

Meaning I will eventually get to the rest of the graphics after I'm done with Mario and Luigi. Believe me, they won't look out of place when I'm finished lol.

And thanks for the suggestion, Imajin, but I want to keep it strictly 8-bit.

Stifu - No it isn't the "bestest" hack idea, but yes... I'm havin' tons of fun with this.

Pas'ra'chilli - You just can't beat the classics!

Chickenlump - Don't worry... I won't get TOO lazy.

Shane - I don't think you were the only one who's thought of this in the past; I could have sworn I've seen at least a couple others.

Raccoon Sam - Yeah, all graphics... But I might want to change the ASM a bit... Possibly the music too when that one SPC program is finished.

GeckoYamori - I'm sure a SMB3 hack would be possible too; just look at all the hacks that use SMAS: SMB3's Mario... The SMAS version was just a little bit different from its NES counterpart; it could be done!!! But, I'm stickin to SMB1.

Oh, and not much is finished, but I've created an ips patch of the current rom; just so you can get a basic idea. (Seriously; not a lot was changed; just a few sprites, some objects, and most of Mario/Luigi's sprites... There are a few bugs with small Mario/Luigi, but their Super forms look pretty much old school!)

Erm.... Anyway; here you go!

Heh heh... Yeah I toldja... There are still a few bugs with Mario/Luigi. Plus there were some I didn't fix. (I forgot about looking up w/ shell! My bad...)
And I'll make new poses eventually. (Mario kicking, Mario's victory pose, climbing, spin-jumping, ugh...)

Yeah, not much was finished... But still a good idea so far?

Thanks, hacker formerly known as Pete!

*Edit: Wait... I just use the SMWPTE for all my Mario/Luigi sprite editing.

**Edit: 0_o Guys.... One small problem...

Actually... A very big one...

It goes from barely a MB to 8MB?
I only changed the graphics, some palettes, the Mario/Luigi tiles (via SMWPTE), and some of the blocks (to make the ground tiles look more SMB-like)...
I didn't change too many of each, and it was just working before I modified a few more graphics and palettes. (tiles 1C3, 1C4, 1D3, and 1D4 and palette 6F)

I know this sounds like something a newbie would ask, but I'm gonna ask anyway...

How can I make this LOTS smaller?

How about SML2 graphics... With SMA4 palettes?
My only question is... Rabbit Mario should be pretty interesting.
Great idea, Pac-Man!

Well... Technically you can't. (At least... I don't think you can...)

Just delete every object and sprite in a level you don't want (Like the hundreds of TEST levels or the ones you want to change...) and then add your own stuff to it. Just don't add too many sprites, remember. You wouldn't want to cram everything into one area and slow the game down!

I'm saying this because I can tell that you're probably new, or at least not very skilled yet with hacking.
You might need a little... beyond basic knowledge of LM to do stuff like this.
(Adding/Modifying exits and entrances in levels, changing what map tiles lead to where... That kind of stuff...)

I'm gonna shut up now.

Take out Level 01? No way! Not Vanilla Secret 2! That level was--

Nah I'm kidding. Go ahead If you wish lol... But just remember that every time Lunar Magic opens up and you want to edit the first level, you're gonna have to go alllllllll the way up to the load level button and type in 1. Heh. Kidding.

If you want to edit older levels, why not just edit level 105? Simpler.

Don't make fun of him, dudes... We were all new once, remember?

And here are a few tips:
1.) Okay, about your pictures; shrink them, put em on an image hosting site, and insert the image's link with Ctrl+M... For christ's sake lol it's a lot easier than clicking them. (Some of us have dialup... Weak...)
2.) Don't use so many sprites; and if you are, don't put them all around the goal post! That's your problem! Remember that the goal tape is a sprite, too. Just like having too many windows up at once will slow your computer down, the same thing goes for roms. You gotta keep it simple! (That doesn't mean make the level simple; if you want challenge, put the buttload of enemies in, but not all in the same area, and not all by the goal. Remember; objects are fun too!)
3.) You might want to make your level a little neater. You can see the little bush-like tiles under the goal... Move the goal down a notch and put some cement blocks over those tiles. They make it ugly-looking.
4.) Note that walking over the goal post will make Mario complete the level; haven't you ever tried flying over them in the old days? It doesn't work! (Most of the time, at least.)
5.) Doesn't Tab take snapshots in ZSNES? And doesn't Lunar Magic have "File>Levels>Export Level to Bitmap?"

And yes, these guys were right; it's a vertical level. But if you don't understand how to add an exit-enabled pipe tile, make it lead to a seperate level (preferably a "TEST" level without the objects) and adding a goal for it, then you are classified as a beginner. There's nothing wrong with that, but you should probably tell people that you are in the first place; it makes things a lot easier.

And I don't care if these questions were answered before me; I felt like doing something other than yelling at him.

There; multiple problems solved at once without insults. Was that so hard?

(Wow... I'm such a wuss... I just had to solve that nicely... Oh well.)

*sigh* Okay.... Go ahead and lock this thread... I'll reopen it once I've gotten a LOT more progress lol. (Might take a while... I'm good with hacking SMW, but I'm terrible at redoing it... that's when I get lazy lol.)

Leave it to JJokerDude!

Hang on...

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

*Looks closely at sheet.*

Yeah, I suppose this could be done; you might need to adjust the colors in the sprites a bit if you want them to work perfectly, but otherwise I'm sure you could.

Um...

You ARE gonna credit the rippers... Right?

Ohhh okay...

Yeah agree, the springboards look good... A few alterations wouldn't hurt though.

Oh... Wait, wait, wait, I just noticed something else.

If this is Return to the Mushroom Kingdom, why is SMB2 gonna be in it if that took place in Subcon and you're making a hack about--
Ha ha just kidding, Pac-Man, these are great.

Dude... You kept a backup file, right?

Just open the level you accidentally saved over (C7) with your backup and save it as a file. Then open your new version, and then open up the file you saved. Now save it to the rom; don't save it as 106 this time, though!
