Posted on 10-15-06 02:18 PM, in Which emulators accept IPS patch modified ROMs? Link
An IPS is created by taking the two files and working out the differences between the two. If the same source file is used in conjunction with an ISP patch then a destination file will be created that is *exactly* the same as the original file that the patch was created from. So an emulator should be oblivious the fact the file was created with a patch, as it will be impossible to tell after a patch is successfully applied.

If something has gone wrong it could be that the source file being used is not the same as the source file that the patch was created with. The patching program used incorrectly applied the patch. Or the patch is bad.

The chances are you are using the wrong source file to apply the patch.

You need to add a 200byte header to your ROM. It will then work. Use SNEStool, it can be found at http://www.romhacking.org TrackDes only works with a headered ROM.

As soon as I've knocked out mushroom cup demo, I'll write a guide with how it was done. There is still some learning going on...

Cleaning up track 3 now:

Hapi-San: That is looking really nice!

When you work it out let us know

Seriously tho' one tip for you - save lots (to an external track file) as there is no un-do feature.

If you want to start making a note of the cords of these items that would help . You can make a note of there location in game, then look at there they are in TrackDes (The cords are shown the bottom left.) It's on my list of things to look into, after getting my demo out then writing a guide to how to change the AI.

For now you'll have to make your track around those items. Note that with TrackDes you can change the order of levels so you could look for a level that item's fit in better with your track. Not the most elegant way to do it I know but you have 24 levels to pick from.

Please say English is not her first language...

How about putting something in the rules about how to get an account? I.E. PM a mod, at least it would show they have read the rules.

Hapi-San, well done that is a really impressive, and well throughout hack! The way the delete feature works is nice, any plans to put dynamic pallet changing else where in game? I can’t wait to see what else you have planned for this hack.

Ok, I'm almost ready to release my mushroom cup demo - with a guide to how I changed the AI. It's taken a little longer than I'd hoped due to a recent promotion at work - so my time has been spent learning some new stuff for that rather than about SNES ROMs (boo!) So a few more tweaks and then I get writing..

On a side note here's something that's fundamentally wrong http://www.dirty.plus.com/SBKPSP.jpg

What's wrong with PSP Emulation? I mean, sure, it's a Nintendo game on a Sony console, but other than that, it's all cool (unless you're a moral extremist or a total Nintendrone, but let's not go there).

It’s wrong because it’s a hacked SNES game on a PSP that white, just though it was ironic that was all. Although I did used to own a SuperUFO (until it broke) I’m not ‘Nintendrone’ I like the terminology of a ‘moral extremist’ I’m not one of them either.

Also, it looks nice, but what are those strange blue things?

They are ghostly Thwomps that jump from side to side.

*Updated 0.2* please re-download details in post below as well as in the text file.

Here it is my first ever ROM hack – Super Baldy Kart.

Maybe Super Mario Kart wasn’t the best choice for too learn this ROM hacking stuff on, but it’s been a fun challenge due to the lack of ROM specific tools. Thank you to everyone that’s helped me create this - should all be in the text file so sorry if I forgot anyone. As far as I am aware this is the first ever SMK hack with changed AI that’s out in the public domain. So as promised I’ve included a how to guide. Most of the credit for this goes to d4s and his document:
http://www.dirty.plus.com/SBK/d4s_mariokart_info.txt (hope you don't mind me hosting it)

Download here http://www.dirty.plus.com/SBK/SuperBaldyKart.zip and as always RTFM!

Feed back is appreciated. Hope you find it fun.
