The heart of a tulip-bulb

Driving into a thing with a bulb, thus breaking it - driving into a lamppost.

Well, now we know what McGruder's comic would have been like if it weren't restrained by editors and space.

Pretty funny, but dayum is it weird.

The only thing about it that irks me (besides the, at times, stale animation) is the fact that he always ends the episode with a joke. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the humor. But Mr. McGruder has something introspective to comment on every single episode, and he does through Huey's ending soliloquies. It gets you thinking. Unfortunately, he ends it with a joke instead of that thought, thus terminating any real chance of keeping that message that he's portraying in many of the viewers minds. Just an execution error in my opinion.

... just sayin'.

Teddylot: Where ... is ... everybody ...?

Teddylot was sitting in the dark of his basement in front of a giant, blue plasma screen with a game controller in his hand. He sat there, motionless, silent, and alone, expecting someone to answer his question.

Teddylot: ... YOU CAN'T HAVE A LAN PARTY WITH JUST ONE PERSON!!! ... you need at least five. -.-

Not to mention it costs a hefty amount of "gold and silver" to actually get on the plane in the first place.

Well, red is considered to be one of the worst colors to use for graphic design work (along with yellow,) since in some cases, the red actually hurts the eyes.

Nevertheless, I loved your old layout and I enjoy this one. The only thing I'd say on the side is that the picture of Azumi doesn't blend too well with the overall pixel look of the layout. *shrugs* Still very nice though.

Well, it all goes back to when my grandfather got me a PS2 for my birthday, along with a crisp new copy of Final Fantasy 9. Brilliant game.

So, I started playing the game, but as this was the first RPG I had ever played ... well, let's just say I went crying to the internet in search for an walkthrough. Thus, I found myself at Unofficial Final Fantasy 9 site, and I registered on their message board just in case I needed some extra help. Stayed there for almost a year eventually. In the meantime, I happened to make the acquaintance of Leroy, more commonly known as Tuvai or ADTLG ... I actually forgot the original name that I met him under.

I registered at his RPG Revelation (currently known as Tuvai.net.) A thread, much like this one, but more along the lines of "what message boards do you frequent?" came across, and Acmlm's Board was mentioned by Tuvai himself. Apparantly, he had just been banned. Feeling left out of the conversation because it just so happened almost everyone there knew about it, I visited Acmlm's myself. I lurked for a few months, then registered.

Spammed for 100 posts, then made my way back to RPG Revelation and UFF9site. However, after I while, I found an interest in story-telling. Remebering that Acmlm's had a role playing forum, I came back and became part of the active Story Forumer community.

Well, that's it, I suppose. I'm still fairly active here ... I left UFF9 soon after I became active here ... and I visit Tuvai's site every once in a while because he and I used to be pretty good buddies ... besides that, I just can't seem to get along with anybody there anymore.

*le sigh*

Reminiscing sure is depressing.

Thank God for Acmlm's, right?

It was.

Well, I just got back from looking over the archive, and I guess you could say my posts were "sub-par." Bad grammar, spelling, use of header, the lot. However, oddly enough, members back then didn't seem to mind it all that much.

Note, though, that my "spammy" posts back then were never intentional.

As Rick made his way towards Teddylot's house, he was greeted by a few yards out by a young man in a black suit. The man looked down upon the Dreamlanders then adjusted his sunglasses. However, it was the thick mop of dreadlocks that gave away his identity. Not to mention his professional look. Twister pulled out a clipboard and made sure Rick and Pitch were on Teddylot's list of invitees. With out a word of cordial banter or welcome, the boy waved the two onward toward the house as if nothing were happening.

Teddylot: Zap ...

A young boy, around the same age as the bouncer at the front door, shuffled down the stairs to the blue-lit basement. Teddylot was still sitting in his designated La-Z-Boy chair waiting impatiently for his invitees to show.

Zap: Umm, yeah, Rick and Pitch just came through the front door ... they'll be down in a--

Teddylot: Yeah, whatever, that's great and all, but where are the big names!!! I'm pretty sure I invited some of them. Melvin, Kirbynite ... Skydude!!! Didn't I invite Sky? What about Dani ... and SomerZ? Hmmmmmmm ...

Zap: But ... they're not really ... active anym--

Teddylot: Bup bup bup bup bup bup ... bup ... Where are they?

Zap: Umm, well, they could be at the party next door.

Teddylot: =o ... Why ... wasn't I invited?

Zap: You were.

Teddylot: Oh ... that's good. As long as I was.

Now, go fetch some of the party-goers next door. I want some kind of activity down here.

Zap: Of course ... should I tranquilize them first?

Teddylot: Yeah, yeah, sho', sho'. Do whatever.

Zap quickly turned 'round to face Rick and Pitch. He spread himself against the wall to let them pass down the narrow stair flight, then quickly took the stairs in stride.

Teddylot: Soooo .... guys ... who wants to LAN? 'Cause I am ... yep.

...

I have snacks, too.

Having seen the entire incident from right in front of their front door, both Zap and Twister were speechless, at first. Zap signaled to Twister to fetch Teddylot, while he headed in Skydude's direction ... he knew most about what was going on.

Teddylot: I see ... Well, looks like Twister's your new host, guys. I'm going with Zap to do heroic stuff.

Twister: HEY!!! What about me?!

Teddylot: You're gonna LAN with Pitch and Rick and whoever else comes in late. You can play Haylooooooooo ... Cool? Good.

Twister: But I suck at Halo.

Teddylot: Bel needs counseling.

The bear said that to no one in particular, but just loud enough for everyone, especially Bel, to hear. And yes, both Zap and Teddylot had been part of the ongoing conversation, but just not too keen on saying anything. The powerhouses seemed to have everything under control.

Meanwhile ...

Twister: Who's up for some Mario Party 7?

Rick: I'm not.

Pitch: Joost becase you losin', mang, doesn't mean we can't fun.

Twister: Guys ... two against one is hardly fair ...

Rick: The fact that you have thumbs is an automatic handicap for us.

Pitch: Yea', mang. I dun' even have feengers.

Teddylot: I'VE VENTURED AROUND THE ISLAND BEFORE!!! ... good you all heard me. Isn't that right Zap?

Zap: Yep.

Teddylot: Actually, Zap has, too, when he prospected some of the island so that he could build his "underground lab" ... but keep it hush hush ... nobody's supposed to know about it.

Zap: Yep.

Teddylot: In that case, I vote Zap to be our tour guide. He can knock off the annoying undergrowth in the forest and jungle with Sky, ('cause he's that much of a leader) while we chill, follow, and take pictures of pokemon ... I mean, scenery.

Zap: Uuuuuh ... sure, I guess.

Finally, with a stroke of genius and obnoxiousness, Teddylot was able to get the party moving into the forest. Zap shouldered his pack, which he had grabbed from the house during an OT, and led the way into the forest in a nonchalant, unconcerned kind of way. Although he didn’t show it, he was concerned ... not for danger ... but for Kirb ...

Zap: Hey Bel ... if you want, I'm sure nobody would mind if you staid behind and looked after the party-goers yourself.

Without another word, Zap moved forward, trying to get the caravan moving, and took his first step into the forest. Whether there was something dangerous in the forest (like the NetNavi brothers thought,) was really of no concern to him because he was sure that he and his gadgets could handle it ... after all, they had before. Reassurance was behind him ... a horde of battle-hardened "dimension hoppers" and heroes.

Well, most people just use the shortened version of my name, but I do have two friends (twins) that call me:

The Great Benedicto (something to do with the pope and a magician ... not sure)
Cornelius (dunno where this came from)

And of course on the cross country team, they call me:

Road Runner

... that's it, I think. I have very unimaginative friends. ;-;

OOC: too long, didn't read.

Meanwhile ... back somewhere at the home base ...

Twister: So ... you guys having fun?

Rick: Not really.

Pitch: Nah.

Now back to the story ...

Teddylot: ... you can't even hear the fighting anymore.

The rest of the group, not concerned much with the Redips threat, made an unspoken decision to avert the battle, leaving Forte's gang and Bel behind. Zap led the group deeper into the folliage of the jungle with Sky close behind him, watching out for any possible natural threats. The guide ended up turning out pretty useful, though.

Of course, Zap's guiding skills couldn't remove the effect of the jungle climate on his team. Everyone seemed to get more sluggish as they continued their trek. Most were covered in sweat, and all were thirsty and needed at least a short break. A low gurgling sound eventually began to weigh in the atmosphere, and as they continued treking, the gurgle gradually became a loud rush of water. Godsend.

Zap: We're coming up on a clearing. We'll be able to take a short break and quench everyone's thirst.

Teddylot: Gatorade, right? I'm up for some of that.
