I already got my replacement computer. Should it work, my combined Christmas + Birthday from both my parents and Grandparents will be complete. Should it not work, I have the world's most expensive doorstop.

My favorite potato chips, EVER. Too bad you can't seem to find them around here anymore. And they're pretty thick and taste-filled for 'wimpy' potato chips. Most people claim they had TOO MUCH flavor, even.

I gotsa-myself some nice 101 ID, now thanks to that I'm a lot lower than my previous member number. And I have a chance post-count wise! But I still wish I had some of my old posts...

Yup, it's the 19th here, at 11:45 PM. I'm one of the last people with that date. This comic looks interesting to me. How often is it published?

Well, the 19th had to have been the freakiest day ever. In order, here is what happened:

* I nearly finish my computer that I've been building, but we have to go to the grocery store. Since we have no car, we take a Tandem bicycle. It is supposed to be a 'short' outing.

* We get there. I wait outside, guarding the tandem (it's from 1950 and worth something, I guess) and my Dad goes inside.

* Almost an hour passes, during which my Dad drops a bottle of Apple Cider in the store, then gets in line behind two ladies who happen to love coupons. The last lady decides she doesn't want half of her items after they've been rung-up, uses millions of coupons, does all of this after they've been bagged (requiring them to be unbagged) and pays in CHANGE.

* Okay, we eventually get home again... but it doesn't stop. I start up my computer that I built, and it works... BUT it needs a driver. Which requires a floppy disk et floppy drive. But there's no floppy drive for that computer!

* I open up an old eMachine I had handy to loot for a floppy drive. All attempts to pry out the drive fail; it uses a proprietary IDE connector, has no front faceplate, and would require me to remove the RAM and CPU to get out.

* I open up an old 486, only to discover a hard drive with a 'posessed' power cable which just won't budge. Floppy no come out.

* I go to the current computer, and discover we have no screwdrivers of the right side for the weird screws which hold in the otheerwise easy to get floppy drive.

* I become angry, blow off steam. But then Mom comes home. With the car. So we go to Best Buy to get a Floppy Drive.

* Best Buy has no internal floppy drives.

* We get home. Dad fries up chicken for me and fish for the others; I don't like fish.

* Dad burns black the chicken; have to eat microwaved chicken from another source instead.

* Dinner is eaten; Mom goes to pour salt, salt top flies off and her baked potato is ruined.

* She continues eating; filling falls out of her mouth while eating

* It's her birthday as this happens.

* Dad spills tartar sauce over his plate, luckily nothing is ruined.

* We go to eat the cake. Mom takes a while to actually blow out the candles; wax gets all over the cake.

* When blowing the candles out, the sheer smoke is blown into my eyes and causes me to cough (I was on the other side)

* Cake filling has consistency of gravel, tastes like 'Asphault Cake', is widely hated.

* Dad burns a ring into the chopping block by accident with hot cooking implement.

* Mom makes hot chocolate for my sister... puts in WAAAY too much peppermint, thus ruining it.

Is this messed up or what?

"Drat! So close... you won't be able to escape this time!"

* Metal sucked back in the few energy attacks he hadn't have lost to buildings, and then concentrated them into one large beam. He then hit a building with it... causing the domino effect as building after building fell down, hitting other buildings until it would threaten Dracoon and the building he was in. Meanwhile, Metal landed on another (safe) building and got into a defensive stance. *

Nevah! Discontinued potato chips forever! ...For potato chips. If there are good tortilla chips, then they're in a league of their own.

Well, if you thought the last two problems I had were fun, say hello to Windows XP's BSOD. The whole computer's all installing. The hard drive is partioned, and has basic setup info from XP on it. Well, it goes to install (after reboot) and gets 75% the way through 'device setup' every time I try to install it, and then... BSOD!!! With the following error code things:

0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8... 0x8... etc)

Something about an important thread to Windows terminating unexpectedly. I suspect it being angry at either where the hard drive is plugged in, the BIOS, or perhaps something else. Do you know of any specific possibilities? (And yes, this is the same error I get each time, no randomness which suggests memory errors, unless this sort of error is of the same ilk)

Nope, happens same time every time, same error. I went to call the tech support and got reminded that, because I skimped on it (it is OEM) I'd have to pay up. Since I haven't tried everything yet, I'm gonna wait and try out the memory testers. It happens 3/4 through 'configuring devices' on the installation every time. I'm thinking it's either memory or some hardware component it dislikes. One thing that is odd: I bought dual-channel memory, stuck them in the right slots, and it reports the right amount of memory but says 'Single-Channel mode' instead of what it's supposed to be.

--Went through memtest86 test (1 runthrough of all memory) without a single error. Hrm. I could test it over and over again, but shouldn't it have shown its ugly face by now?

OOC: I feel your pain.

"Get ready to be schooled!"

* A split second flew by, and then Metal's nine-iron lit up an unearthly blue hue. But before anyone could react, Metal smashed it into the ground. A brilliant blue line of laser energy flew out from it, flying straight towards Mel-bot. Metal leaped to the right and hit the ground diagonally , and then leaped to the other side and repeated his attack. The lines flew at Mel, threatening to burn him and possibly knock him over. *

* The attack set off a whole ton of Metal's sensors, all of them warning him to get out of the way. He dove to the side, but got blasted in the back by some of it, which damaged a variety of subsystems and cracked his armor. He got up, still sparking a bit, and then gripped the nine-iron tightly. *

"You have an inspiring attack system, but what of... your defenses?"

* Metal suddenly slammed the club into the ground twice, causing two more lasers. Surely he wasn't this predictable... nope. He leapt off to the left, and then suddenly lunged, trying to charge at Mel-bot and bash him in the stomach seconds after the inevitable deflection of the lasers. To hedge his bets, Metal used his off hand to hurl a flash grenade behind Mel. *

"You make an interesting approach... allow me to introduce you to this."

* Metal just stood there as millions of blasts hit him. What sort of strategy was that? Smoke billowed from where he was. From all appearances, he had been annihilated.... what was true would be revealed when the smoke dissipated. *

I know Windows 98 is less sensitive about memory, but I plugged in an old drive with it already installed and it boots up just fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be able to see the CD-rom drive... if I could get it to see that, I'd be set. At least, until I could get the SATA drive to install or something. Thusly, Windows XP must be complaining about a compatibility error unique to their own 'improved' installation system.

"We'll see about that!"

* Metal punched the keytar with his free hand; and suddenly, the beam was hitting his fist point-blank. It then channeled through his high-tech armor, and into the other hand... the one with the golf club. Which was touching the keytar. As well as Mel-bot, since it had bent from the block. Both Mel and the keytar would be feeling their own attack; while it damaged Metal, he was actually able to reroute a good deal of the energy right back into Mel-bot. But that wasn't enough, as Metal thought. Surely Mel-bot would just pull out some other gadget and avoid this as well. *

"If you think this burns, why don't you check out THIS!"

* Metal, noticing the keytar's beam beginning to end (as per Mel-Bot's original firing program), immediately shoved Mel-bot back, and then while both of them were still glowing from the laser energy, he flipped open his wrist-mounted laser gun, his left-wrist harpoon launcher, his dual automatic shoulder guns, and then kneeled to reveal dual rocket launchers in his knees. He then pointed them all at Mel-Bot and opened fire, spraying bullets, lasers, a harpoon, and two rockets at Mel while the laser from the keytar was still dying out. *

* The billowing smoke cleared as the Ultima shot hit Metal dead-on. But all was not right... he wasn't dead. In fact, he was laughing, as dark energy glowed all around him. He glowed intensely, not with evil... but pure nothingness. *

"...X-ZONE!"

* The energy that had been merely collecting around Metal completely surrounded him, and soon he was completely blackened. The energy then formed a far more familliar shape... a black hole. But wait! No black hole pushed on people... Dracoon could clearly feel it trying to push him away... but that was nothing compared to what happened next. The black hole focused... focused... and, powered up by the damage Metal had taken, began firing not just one, not just two, but hundreds and hundreds of lightning-bolt like feelers which struck out, grabbed something, and dragged them into the black hole, which shredded the hapless object. Needless to say, most of them lashed out towards Dracoon; the rest took out any remaining buildings or infrastructure. A faint outline of Metal could be seen in the middle of the 'white hole', glowing. *
