It could have been something as simple as wrapping a string around the kid's neck and giving a good yank. Kids are delicate.

setz: I laughed at your earlier comments, and then I laughed doubly hard when I looked at your layout (let's play hangman!). So yeah, while tragic it also is kind of funny.

However, if this story is true as it is presented, I don't know how you can hold the parents responsible. Are parents supposed to watch their kids at every goddamn moment of their lives? That's just plain impossible. Though, there's probably a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

Untrue. Parents have the burden of responsibility, not only to watch, but to meld the character of their children. After all, one heavily formed by surrounding forces at such an early age. But at nine, when your kids are hanging each other as a "game," you really haven't taught them much worthwhile.

Why... the... fuck... DO EVERYONE FUCKING BLAME THE FUCKING PARENTS.

Kid hurts himself, it's the parents' fault.
Kid doesn't want to learn shit at school, the parents must be fucking responsible.
Kid kills himself, must be the parents' fault for not watching him 24 hours a day.

Seriously, I'd fucking kill myself if my parents were watching me 24 hours a day when I'm nine.

Why is it always "the parents didn't do a good job teaching them".

CAN'T ANYONE FUCKING THINK? Parents have heavy influence on their kids, that's true. But kids sometime happen to not care about what their parents told them, for whatever reasons.

When I was nine, I did all sort of dangerous stuff (pierced my right hand after doing something stupid). I nearly killed myself a few times. Played with dangerous stuff. I never even thought about blaming my parents. They told me that something would hurt, I didn't care. I got hurt because I was fucking retarded.

Also, you tend to learn alot more when feeling something. When something's really hot, you tend to remember it when you get burned by it.

So yeah, I'm not good at this kind of stuff, but it's not the parents' fault if the kid died. I'm going to get flamed for this, but the kid deserved it. At nine, I sure as fuck knew what death was.

I laughed. You know why? Cause it's a way of coping with problems. If you take all the world's problems onto yourself you're screwed. Take a step back and realize that hundreds of other kids died today too. It sucks, but hey how he got killed was funny.

I'm more worried about the sister and the fact that she'll have to live with this knowledge for the rest of her life.

There really is no way to prove that it was a failing on the parent's part given the information we have. Now if details start appearing where the kids started bringing rope into the room and jabbering on about Saddam Hussein and hanging and such - all in front of the parents and in spite of some basic supervision, then I think you begin to have a case for that side. But some things are just freak accidents.

You're also making the assumption that a parent can mold a child to be anything they want them to be. That's obviously not fucking true. Learning needs one willing participant - but teaching needs two willing participants. If a child does not want to learn then obviously it is their problem. Kids may be immature, ignorant, and foolhardy but that doesn't remove all culpability. Some things you have to learn for yourselves. Take Alice for example... he seems to think that parents give kids "The Death Talk" or something about HOW YOU CAN DIE BELIEVE IT OR NOT. A kid who can't pick up on that by the age of 9 is well... mentally retarded or doesn't exist.

Yes, children are delicate. And something like that may be how it happened. I have no doubt the kid was strangled, I just don't buy the mock Saddam execution story.

The kids were idiots. Deal with it.
In the immortal words of George Carlin, "Not all kids are smart and clever. In fact, a lot of them are pretty fucking stupid... Kids are a lot like a adults: a few winners, a whole lotta losers." (not the exact quote, but whatever)
It's not the parents' faults, it was the children. Get over it. Kids die every day, thank god, or else we'd be overrun with the little bastards.
But then again, I am a real dick. So I don't know how much validity my statement can hold.

No, I would just hope that most parents teach their kids things like why not to wrap things around their neck. And we're forgetting that these kids were allowed to watch this video in the first place.

I disagree. Children that old shouldn't be SPECTACULARLY STUPID.

And a parent CAN'T keep an eye on the kids 24/7. Though...one hanging the other does seem like the sort of thing that could have been prevented even with a parent on the other side of the house...

I dove off our couch when I was 3 thinking I could fly. I only ended up with a broken collarbone. I got lucky. But at 9 years old if you cannot think for yourself, there's only one place to go, into the ground.

No double negatives remember? But yes "Murder Death Kill"'s are so easy to do that anyone could kill another being. Look at how many species are extinct because of humanity's genocidal tendencies. I'm amazed we haven't killed ourselves off yet.
