Talking about backtracking, you do a fair load of it to get the hook shot, which I just got...

By the way, in Farore's isle, after you beat the boss, if you go back to the boss room, the boss music plays again... Oh, and the thing about having to go back to the church was totally random and follows no apparent logic. But at least I know where to go...

On a side note, I've encountered some quite buggy teleporting points... The large cave entrance to get to the Zora king, for example, can get quite glitchy.

Yowza, this looks fantastic. I'm already glad to know that there will be many elements from LTTP in this, and the whole layout and graphics look awesome.

Myself and Boom.dk are playing through this on ZSNES Netplay at the moment, so I'll leave a few more comments as we progress further.

That's what was planned at first, but Hyrule Magic kept killing/eating my dungeons and screwing up my rom. Then I resort I wouldn't be making any dungeons anymore unless another editor gets released. Then I got around to join with Euclid and slowly started to pimp his overworlds.

The overworlds as they are right now in Parallel World are about half a year of work. Not more, not less... I've been through many complete overworlds in the last years, that's why it's so perfect to me. It's open, many places to go from all areas and best of all even have a working lost woods. Euclid played the technical goodies part of the hack, all the things you see like the menu, lost woods, area names comes from him. I don't think I would have managed anything myself.

That's where MathOnNapkins comes to mind... He's working on one editor to replace Hyrule Magic althrough very slowly, I'd like to make A Parallel Worlds EASY VERSION sometime, but not right now. I'll be taking a long break from hacking this game.

So should i continue playing this anymore or not in your guy's opinions? ...i'm totally up for this whole new experience and the awsome graphics and new dungeons and stuff....

but it took me about 2 - 2 1/2 half hours to get through that garden house place.
i admit all the backtracking so much was ridiculous and a little uncalled for, sorry.
and yea i had to resort to savestating too much because of the restarting from the beginnign of the game heh

so then i've just been reading ALL these replies to this post so far and lots of mixed opinions of people saying it's worth it to keep playing after getting through garden house.......and some people saying it's not worth it....

think i should continue or no ? ....
No offense to elucid or orichamu or anyone that worked on this.....you guys have my complete respect..

This is kinda embarrasing, but I really do think it's too hard. And even though you opened the wrong door, it's still possible to get the sword. I had to kill that ball 'n' chain guy with 4 bombs. Died way too many times in the guard house. It got kinda boring. And yeah that "ping pong" thing where you had to run up and down between the beginning and the basement in the guard house... Got kinda boring too. The graphics are too sweet, though, and overall, I'm really fond of what I'm seeing.

Bugs:

Unable to open big chests.
Some doors/stairs seem to have layer bugs.
Some color combinations kinda ugly.

Progress so far:

Got sword 'n' shield
4 hearts
Rescued Zelda
Got lamp

A glitch i noticed

In Darunia's Cavern, in one of the early rooms, you move a block in the middle of a room to open the door (It's the room with the Skeleton Swordsman that has the Big Key). If you move the block, leave, and come back, the block stays where it was but the door remains closed.

After some insanely frustrating normal play, I managed to discover that the difficulty continues to scale upwards throughout the game. Oro's stuff is far more challenging than frustrating, but going inside a dungeon gets to be frustratic and masochistic. Again, I never said this hack completely sucked, but it's an incredibly mixed bag.

I am stuck on Rudo's Cavern. theres a

..
..
...
Spoiler:
small cliff that i should be able to hookshot over by clinging on to a pot, but there seems to be some kind of invisible wall blocking me from doing that. in the room to my right there is Kholdstare, who i cant even touch because i dont have the fire rod. the doors locked and forced me to just commit suicide. anyway, i think this is a glitch. and if it is i'm done because it took HELLA long to get this far.

I for one have decided to approach this hack from a different angle.

Yes the hack can be improved by a lot, personally I would just want to get this hack finished, I set my own deadline to end of 2006, and I stick to it.

From this statement, it is clear that this hack is not finished, and the author is aware of that fact. This is, therefor, not an actual release, but a public beta.

Playing it from this angle, it is a lot easier to put up with the multitude of oversights and other detractors in the game. (It also gives a perfectly valid excuse for cheating your way through, seeing as anyone who plays it is just testing it for bugs, anyways).

My first suggestion for when you put together the actual release: Don't rely on your testers to tell you where your grammar needs improvement. You have the entire script at your disposal -- give it to someone who's willing to proofread it for you. Heck, I'd probably be willing to give it a shot, after you've fixed some of the more important issues.

Another thing you should do is add actual dungeon maps. I know, that would take a whole lot of work, but seeing as you've got a lot of work to do before this hack is finished anyways, you may as well go for it. The hiding layer 2 thing is an interesting touch, but it's nowhere near as useful as a frigging MAP would be, and if you can code the game to hide an entire layer like that, there's no excuse for not being able to code it to do both that and show a map too.

As for the actual game, itself, you need to do is redesign the guardhouse. The number of complaints you're getting about it make this clear enough without the fact that you felt the need -- first -- to make a walkthrough for the introduction (which is not something ANY game should need) -- and then -- to get through the introduction yourself and make and distribute a save so that people wouldn't have to play through it themselves..

Yeah. Clearly you need to fix something there. Make the layout a little less random and a LOT less sadistic. Make the location of important items a little more obvious. And make sure it's impossible to miss the damn sword, like I did, or get to that heart piece without the hookshot like so many others.
Also, in this room, the south door looks like crap in with the wall, and the tops of the barrels could use some fixing, too. With all the new graphics you added, I'm quite sure you can spare two 8x8 tiles to fix those up.

Once I got past the guardhouse, the level design went from insane and frustrating to generic and boring. The sewers are as straightforward as could possibly be -- except for the part where you have to backtrack to the very beginning (AGAIN) to get the Boomerang - and I see there's already been a handful of people who completely forgot to go back for it.
If nothing else, you should add a way back into the sewers for people who missed it -- even the original LTTP had a means of doing that.

Continuing back to the village, I found this little design oversight (and the lol infinite conversation bug that's already been reported).

As for Nayru's Bay, well. I got the palette errors, just like everyone else. But there are a few more things I feel inclined to point out.
For starters, unless you can get the Magic Cape before the Bay, and I just missed it (like the sword.. and the boomerang..) you need to do something about these bumpers. Not everyone is going to know that you can squeeze diagonally along the edge past it, there. Even just a sign saying "You can get past one of these bumpers, if you're careful enough" would be a huge improvement. Also, when going down the stairs in that room, when Link goes behind the stair tiles, part of his hat can still be seen above the wall.

Now, for the flooded basement.. I'll admit, that was a really good design. I liked that a lot. And having the flying floor tiles in there was an interesting challenge, as well. The problem is that there's more than just floor tiles under the water, and when parts of the wall and the corners of treasure chest start randomly vanishing, it makes your really good design end up looking like crap. You should redesign the stuff underwater a bit so that it doesn't end up looking quite so bad.

The third thing is the invisible bridge before the Armos Knights. This is another issue with your clues (the few that actually exist) being too subtle. The fact is, even in the original, the "invisible" bridges were still visible if you looked hard enough. Now, I can understand why you might prefer to leave yours invisible as an added challenge, but at least make the sign say something more obvious than "you need something solid".

That's more or less as far as I've gotten, so far. I'm sure I'll have a lot more suggestions to add later.

Oh, also, I'm assuming the torches in Waterfall Cave are just for decoration, but even if they are, you should still be able to light them with your torch.
And while I was in Waterfall Cave, the entire Layer 1 palette went wacky for no apparent reason, but that only happened once.

First of all, Fuck you. Second of all, it's called "constructive criticism". I'm telling them what's wrong with their hack so that they can improve it.

This has already been mentioned in this thread. Twice.
And yes, you are a retard.

Oh, one more thing. Or rather, three more things. Things that you should learn.
"Grammar", "Punctuation", "Spelling".

I even provided links for them, since you're probably too stupid to figure out how to look them up yourself.
