Video game skill is not binary. There is no 1 = good, 0 = bad. There is a wide range of skill levels between 'sucks at everything' and 'video game god'.
This hack -- specifically Euclid's dungeons -- was designed for people whose skill levels are far above average. I have no problem with this. The part I take exception to is the fact that they make no mention of this until several pages into the thread. I can only assume that they either gave casual gamers no consideration whatsoever, or that they were deliberately trying to piss us off and prove their superiority for the sake of e-peen. |

also, let me add that Super Metroid: Redesign was a GREAT hack. it involved challenge, not luck and pure insanity. This game is just frustrating. Why should i have to roam through the second dungeon of the game for literally hours searching for a small key? i DO appreciate all of the hard work that was put into this hack, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. | |||

Yeah, I managed to finish Metroid: Redesign without any savestates. Granted, it took a fair while to do, but it was enjoyable.
In the very first area of this Zelda hack, I've had to keep my finger on F2 all the way through. I must have used it about 400 times, and I had nearly as many game overs from getting stuck in the ceiling in some rooms - that has nothing to do with my playing skills. |

Okay, I am still lost. I assume the arrows I saw earlier are the Lost Woods solution, except you can't go left or it takes you out of the area. As for the Merchent's Way, I don't know where that is.
I need a clue. |

Originally posted by D 2007 actually it does, a little (once you can block them) but theres no excuse for being gunned down like that in the second dungeon. also at the beggining of the game, the shooters were pretty rediculous as well. when the screen scrolls away from them, and toward them again, they shoot again. which caused me to get shot at VERY, VERY fast. luckily, i managed to make it that far without save states. but now that i realized the whole game will be like this, i will use them. no point in playing a game if it just causes frustration. jigglysaint: SPOILERS . . . . . . . the arrows on the ground in the quarry are NOT meant for the lost woods. let me say this again, if anyone has completed din's catacombs, please help me out. im stuck. im angry. D: They're not as annoying as I first thought.
ICheatAtGolf: Spoiler: From the first locked door (not the one at the entrance), head right a few times then head south. You should be in a room with two blue and orange tentacle enemies. Kill the one on the left and it'll drop the key. |

I managed to finish Metroid: Redesign without any savestates.
What? Aren't there like 6 save stations in that whole game? |

Originally posted by Black Telomeres Well. I admit I did use a few. But savestates to save progress like that is fine IMO. It's when you have to use savestates every other second that annoys me. |

jiggly, when you beat din's catacombs, please make a mental note of where you found each small key (there is only 3) because i am missing one somewhere...maybe i already got the key from the tentacle enemy, im just not sure. but im really getting annoyed...
edit: nevermind! i got the key. thanks asdf, i dont know what happened but the monster wasnt dropping it before. the left one dropped nothing and the right one dropped a blue rupee. i highly doubt i didnt see it the first 5 times freaky. (edited by ICheatAtGolf on 01-01-07 04:38 PM) |
