It's also never stopped being stupid and punishing if you're a thorough player. ;

'Hey, I just spent twice as long as the other guy and found all the chests'
'Well, I got this better item for no effort whatsoever!'
'Wait, I can't get that item...$*#*$!'

Also, Square makes some questionable gameplay design decisions. Gem Box + Economiser + Ultima anyone?

Okay, so I am in the second world. I can't get into the first dungeons since I need the Cane of Someria. What should I do now?

Oh yeah, I found a fatal bug near the Church. You can walk to the left and enter the graveyard, and you will be at a spot you should not be able to walk on. If you go back you can get yourself stuck in an endless loop or be trapped in the water.

Just because a professional does it doesn't mean it's OK. They can screw up too. See also: Super Mario World.

Who said we were professionals back when we made the hack?

That's a hobby, we don't get paid and I understand we can't make everyone happy either

Generally, you want to avoid repeating mistakes made by the pros. Because if you can make a game without them, then you actually have a chance of beating them at their own game. See: Some of the recent Sonic hacks vs. Current Gen SEGA Sonic games.

I put the game on a cartridge (formerly NBA Live '95, if anyone's curious) and am playing it on the real SNES. And let me tell you, it's a bitch. It's possible, but it takes many tries (before you get the sword, at least).

Also, two minor bugs to report. First, when talking to the guy at the church, if your hearts are not full, he heals them--but his text window only shows up for a fraction of a second before closing. When he says "Welcome to the church!" after your hearts are full, though, the box is fine.

Also, the title screen is a little messed up on the SNES. It's not illegible, but some graphics are in the wrong places. It might possibly be because the file was corrupted a little when I applied solder to the legs of my eproms, but so far, everything else is fine. When the next version is released, I'll be more careful with the legs, and see whether the title screen is still funky.

(screenshot of the problem graphics to come as soon as I can find a camera)

You should socket your EEPROMs for that and other reasons.

Yes, I probably should. I wanted to have everything fit in the cart without having to cut holes, but for a public beta, it would have been a better idea to use sockets.

I beat what I assumed was the boss of Impa's Ways. Was I supposed to get something for doing that? Because I didn't.

Where do I get the bow and cape? Many seem to be getting the cape before the 3rd dungeon...

Add: Where the heck is the Kokiri Emerald! It wasn't in the 3rd dungeon! They took Zelda away after I beat the 3rd dungeon! WTF?

Add2: I found her in the guardhouse again...but now what do I do...the minister is dead...

I still haven't played it, but I just wanted to say that the idea of not getting an item to get something better later isn't that stupid, if done properly.

(like if the game is harder without it, or you have to do some extra work to get it)

Why's everyone complaining? The red boomerang is not that much better than the blue one, and in some respects is actually kind-of worse.

Items:

-Boomerang (Lvl 1)
-Bombs (20 max)
-Mushroom/Magic Powder
-Lamp
-Magic Hammer
-Net
-Bottle (1; bought in Mystic Forest)

Equipment:

-Sword (Lvl 1)
-Shield (Lvl 1)
-Green Tunic
-Pegasus Boots

Thus far, I have this much and completed Nayru's Bay and Din's Catacombs. If I could be informed of what items or equipment can be obtained between now and Farore's Isle, I would be indebted and appreciable to said person/people.

You can get an extra bottle in the lost woods by going
Spoiler:
right, down, up, down, and talking to the sleeping man in the secret meadow. Get the bug catching net from the sick boy in Kakariko Village. Go back to Din's Catacombs to get the Goron braclet so you can get the book of Mudora from the library. If you fall down the right hole in the village, spread magic powder on an altar inside a cave, so you can get the 1/2 use of magic curse.

Ok. Now I got the level 2 sword, with Zelda following me. (The minister is dead btw. I found her in the castle guardhouse again; read: I FOUND A BUG) Seeing her follow me is very annoying. Is there a way how I can get rid of her by hacking the sram? Or could someone hack this savestate so Zelda stops following me?

^ Somethings not right here....

And now I'm also stuck in Rauru Ruins. I got Biggoron's Bracelet, but aaaargh. I need another small key and I don't have another small key... And I can't find one anywhere

Edit: ... Oh my god that was the best key location ever haha moments like this are why this hack is awesome. And I don't know why everyone says it's so hard, either; sure, guardhouse is bound to piss people off, and so is I guess the first dungeon, but after that you just throw health at us, so.
