Honestly, all I ever hear on the news most of the time is a suicide bombing, murder, robbing, ect. When I stop and think about, I'm personally disgusted with the human race. We can be easially corrupted. Thats basically the whole damn root of the problem. Corruption. Terrorism, and so many other things, occurs due to corruption. There are so many things I hear on the news that I can relate to corruption so quickly that sometimes I'm disturbed to consider the person behind it human.

another problem we are facing currently is the war in Iraq. Personally I say let them kill each other because its getting our men and woman killed who wouldn't have been killed if we didn't decide to jump into the hell hole of war called Iraq. "Well whoever wins will come after us!". I've heard that before. Yeah okay, if it gets to a certain degree we should dive in, but I say that should only happen when other countries become seriously threatend by this war. And yesterday, I had seen a magazine (I can't remember the company) that had a pciture of two girls writing on bombs to give them a "personal gift". Its nuts that they would be doing that, because its almost as if the people over there love the bloodshed.

I'd really like someone to show me the other side of the problem before I take a permenate stance without knowing all the facts.

While generally ashamed of the people who kill, loot, and do evil things, I try my best to be above them all and do what I can do for the common good. Failing that, destroy that which is stupid, evil, dishonest, and nasty. I think it's too much to presume to just think all of humanity is evil or good; you gotta base it per person. Large generalizations only cause more evil, and in claiming the whole human race making you sad, you make me sad of you as a human, and thus you are creating a paradox.

Saddened by it. It is the obviously greatest failure of evolution since earth's creation (if you don't count the initial creation of the first self-reproducing molecules as an even greater one, that is) and the single most hypocrite, indeterminate and pathetic species on this planet, seeing as it is very likely the only one which willingly makes things worse for itself than they could be. Also, an alarming amount of individuals in this species seem to have problems with making good polls. "Yes/No"? Yes what? Yes, saddened by it? Yes, proud of it? Yes, saddened by it or proud of it? (this would get a lot of votes) Yes, saddened by it and proud of it? Yes, I agree with you making this poll? Please, articulate yourself more clearly.

This poll is flawed. This isn't a yes or no question.

I am neither saddened or proud of it. I have the belief that good and evil do balance out. Even though on the news you only hear of the evils, there is so much good going on in the world it's astonishing. I smile when I hear something good, and shudder when I hear something evil. In the bigger picture though I think that there is too much evil to be proud of the human race as a whole, but too much good to be saddened by the human race.

The human race is capable of good things. All over the world, there are sparks of life that influence both good and bad elements upon others, as is the balance of life. Those that further science, those that are philanthropists, the true socialists...All good. But the bad, like Adolf Hitler and Al Quaeda, seek only to destroy life.

There are other ways the arabic people involved with Al Quaeda and groups like it could settle the conflicts they propogate, but they CHOOSE to end life. Hitler was just an unstable egomaniac, and wanted complete control. I'm sure if he had tried a more peaceful approach, he could convince the nations of the world to unite. At the time back then, the world knew very little about it's neighbours, and would have seemed like a good idea.

But these are only a few examples. Bad and good are inevitable things that happen naturally.

So my opinion on humanity: Neutral. There is no real say for ALL humans.

If you want to bring good and evil into it, please think that what's right in your mind isn't always right. Good and evil aren't definable things that have substance.

Now how you view and judge people, that's up to you. I'll believe that there is always some reason that someone did something, even if it's as vague as they just wanted to, so I'm proud of humanity.

Sure we're kind of stupid and we make bad decisions, but when we get to this stage of brain activity, it's a good thing it happens. Mistakes usually tend to teach a lesson, although not always, and we learn from it. Over time it makes humanity better.

The problem we face today is that people aren't educated enough about past mistakes (and successes) so they lack an experience that would help them judge what would be better for their current situations.

I mean, pollution is a relatively new problem, so we have to think of a solution instead of just looking back on an already established solutions. (Although, simply getting rid of the pollutant will work, but it isn't the desirable course of action.)

Bottom line, humanity is something I'm proud of because we can learn in depth. The only problem is that education isn't focused enough on. (I think I could fix it right now because I'm in that pseudo-sleep state. )

Most of that's just reporting bias. You don't hear about the thousands of thousands of times people don't act like bastards.

People are people. We're tiny little creatures stumbling around in a world we mostly don't understand and can barely handle. We're selfish, irrational and short-sighted, but we';re also capable of amazing things. The trick is to have no expectations, and maintain a healthy sense of fatalism and the absurd.

Personally I think it's a wonderous blessing that we aren't all just bashing each other's heads in for the hell of it. It is a mere thin veneer of civility and order that keeps us from this, and this veneer is basically imaginary, solely the product of human thought. I for one think it's pretty cool that these imagined and constructed rules and norms that we call "society" manage to hold things together so well.

Of course, once the ecological crisis starts to bite and things start to unravel economically and socially, we'll see how much the norms of civilization still hold.

I'm proud of what we've achieved, I mean look at all this technology we essentially built up from rocks and plants. However, I'm saddened by human nature and the terrible things so many people do, like rape and theft.
