As the title says it's yet another drop in the pool of Super Mario Bros hacks. Hopefully this one will be not as polluting as most of the rest.

Story
There is a race each year in the Kinquesded for the title of best Princess of the year. It is down to the final two Princesses, Peach and Daisy who now have to race through 4 worlds to get to the Princess of the Kinquesded and win the event.

Read the readme

There are 4 patches one with updated music one without (PGR0 PGR1, the music was not done by me, in fact I don't know who did it . Also on some emulators the text will sometimes scroll I do not know what causes this.

Heh... It's getting to the point where you really can't have a story cause all ideas have been taken. I'm suprised you came up with one.

The screens look good. I'm currently ips-ing now. And what emulators do the scrolling text thing?

Let's see.. I've only just started playing, but I can tell already that it is harder than the original. The only problem I've found so far: if you die past the midway point on the first level, you reappear and immediately fall off the screen and die. I'll let you know if I find anything else... but looks good so far.

D'oh, I thought I fixed that, well you can get around that by jumping when you respawn.
Also another note you might want to allow more than 8 sprites per scanline as I had that checked while I was hacking and never noticed ;;

The Peach sprite reminds me of another SMB1 hack that was released last year. I'll give the hack a spin.

Too bad Peach can't do the hover jump like she can in SMB2. That would be useful...

Also it would really unbalance the game.

The trick with the pit and the coins in 2-4 is way too cheap. NOBODY would expect that the first time they went through, resulting in a guaranteed slow, cheap death and possible turn-off to the game.

The fire-turnip chains in castles are sometimes attached to ? blocks instead of dead blocks. Someone would probably unwittingly hit that and get a cheap hit.

Other than a few broken scenery objects and green koopas sometimes turning red (that I'm sure you're aware of), this hack is quite nice. I'm fond of what Toad says when you clear a castle.

You might have a point there, but most people abuse savestates anyway so it would be fine.

That was the whole point of that, hehe

Thanks to Googie I found out where the music came from, it was from http://u-1.parfait.ne.jp/mario/music/.

Also whoever submitted it to romhacking dot net, next time I make a hack could you just not copy the original post I made?

That's strange...
After I got down the flag pole at the end of stage 2-3, the game froze...

If your hack is made with savestates in mind, it should be mentioned in the readme. I guess this is about getting trapped and having to wait for the timer to run out - at least add something that can kill Mario.

I thought I did have something to kill Mario there. I must of forgot to add that.

All well, much too late now.
