Rermember James Kim? He appeared on a bunch of shows for TechTV (back to the ZDTV days, I think). Call for Help, The Screen Savers, etc. He left the network a couple of years ago to work for cnet, and now he's gone missing. He (and his family) was last seen November 25 in Oregon, but was expected back in San Francisco this past Thursday.

That's usually never a good thing... Dunno who he is but it's not good regardless.

Fixed your link, by the way. You had a href+.

Eeeeeep.

At least his wife/daughters were found alive though... it could be a lot worse, to be honest. :\

That's true--I wonder why they didn't heed the advice of the locals though; they were warned that the road they are on is dangerous at this time of year

heavy snow + mountains + drive through mountains = big trouble

Agreed -- my symphathies* go out to them.

That would be really terrible, but at least everyone else survived and he gave his life trying to help...

I think the fact that it happened the way it did (being stranded, looking for help, etc.) makes it even worse. Tragic...

I was thinking there was a slim chance he'd be rescued, but the realist in me knew he probably wouldn't make it out alive. The fact that he only made it 8 miles really attests to the conditions he had to deal with (temperature, geography, etc.) I just don't understand how you can be stranded 9 days with hardly anyone noticing you're gone.

It seems he went in the wrong direction from where the family was found and when they made that fateful turn.

Authorities think he died within hours of being found...which if true, makes the situation much much more sadder.

I remember watching Screen Savers. And the name does ring a bell. He'll be be missed.
