Hello everybody. I need to capture some game play footage off my computer screen. A quick and dirty search brought this free app to my attention. Unfortunately, this program like others I have found, place a watermark or stamp or time limit on the videos. What do all the youtube people use?

Anyone have any alternatives/favorites they can recommend. Thanks.

VirtualDub is good, if you use Windows.

Oh, and most youtube videos I've seen use Windows Movie Maker with some of it's powerpoint-esque effects

Umm, maybe I'm missing something very very fundamental about these programs...but they don't seem to have what I want. Windows Movie Maker is for editing video. It can capture video only from an outside source (video cam) not from my computer screen.

Same thing with VirtualDub. The help file states...

What you need to use capture mode
In order to use VirtualDub's video capture mode, you need:

A video capture device.
An external video source.

Am I retarted? It would not be the first time I miss something simple.

I have stumbled upon this HyperCam
It stamps an "Unregistered Version" message on all the videos and runs really slow unfortunately.

Oh hmm... I don't know what else besides feeding your video-out into a video-in.

My graphics card only has a video out option. Good for hooking up my comp to my TV, not so great for hooking up my xbox to my comp/monitor. But its all good now. Hypercam is working just fine. Here is the video I captured, edited with Windows Movie Maker, then uploaded to YouTube.
