To chage the the avater size search for a line like:
 $set[userpic]="<img width=60 src=\"$post[picture]\">";
It will be in function.php or threadpost.php depending on which version of AcmlmBoard you are using. There is a seperate loacation in memberlist.php that controls the avatar size in the memberlist.

For the second one, it may help to answer the following questions:
What version of AcmlmBoard are you using?
Where did you get the mod?
Where are you hosting your board?

try looking in the tlayouts directory.

Also $set[userpic]="<img width=60 src=\"$post[picture]\">"; is poor coding since it can be injected with <script> and other goodies. Use $set[userpic]=''; instead.. " 's in statements leaves it open in spots since someone could just put in "'s to end statements.

Whereas this code is flawless... unless of course I used a URL like "http://www.blah.com/blah.jpg height=4000" or "><script>doSomethingNasty();</script".

In their URL they could just enter : "><script>dosomething</script> the " will end the img tag
