Ignore religious implications here.

3 guys walked into a bar. One is Muslim and likes Molson Canadian, one is Christian and likes Guiness, and one is Jewish and likes MGD. They all take a seat at the bar, order their beers, and eventually the topic of favourite beverages comes up. During the discussion, they find that they all used to love the same brew when they were younger. However, during the recourse of their lives, they also discover they come from the same neighbourhood. They get to talking, and discover that because of what their fathers wanted them to do in life, that new environment affected what kind of drinks they prefer.

So, 3 cultures born in the cradle of life. What are the chances they might all be the same?

I don't get the point you're making here.

What is MGD?

MGD is Miller Geniune Draft. The only American beer that does not taste like utter horsepiss but is actually worth drinking.

I think the point he is trying to make is that Moslems, Jews, and Christians are all basically from the same background, or maybe that they share the same general viewpoints on life, but that different reasons have driven them appart. I'm guessing it's got something to do with the fact that they're all three Abrahamic religions, and as such have a lot in common... Or something along those lines. If I'm wrong, I'm as lost as you are, Arwon, the post is after all rather hard to get.

So why does the Christian have to like motor oil instead of beer?

Guiness isn't that bad. It'd be better if the Christian drank a Russian Imperial stout though.

I vote that we turn this thread into the official beer debate thread.

My point is that the chances of these three religions starting off as 3 completely different ideals are astronomical. What I'm trying to get people to debate is that Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faiths were all one religion back in the day.

Do you agree/disagree?

PS: Molson Canadian, as with MGD, are the best I've ever had. Guiness is good for car bombs, but it tastes like ass.

I don't think the beer analogy was that good. While there are people who call themselves Muslims and drink, it's widely known that drinking, among other things, is a taboo in Islam.

It's not really much of a revelation and I can say with assurance that what you said is widely acknowledged by Islam. The belief held by Islam is that the messages of Christianity and Judaism were spread by different messengers of God before Islam but are all prophets that Muslims should respect as I do. Not to mention that they are in the Qu'ran. I have always preferred to see this as a linkage between the three religions. The beliefs and earthly practices coincide as well. In Islam, you can see elements of both Judaism and Christianity and as such, there should be a common ground between the three.

Abrahamic religion - I think your point has been pretty known for a long time, and not really something that needs debate. That Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism is well known. Jesus was a jew who didn't want to start a new religion, but rather act as the Messiah to all Jews. This is why the Jewish holy texts are pretty much the same as the Christian Old Testament. Islam, as already mentioned, sees many important figures in Judaism and Christianity as prophets of God. All religions are inter-linked. All three worship the same god, they just have different views on what revelations he sent to the earth and how to worship him.

So what is there to discuss?
