For as long as I can remember, I've had problems with headaches. When I was about 12, I'd get them all the time, and when I had it checked out, I was told that it was because I was dehydrated. I believed that too, because I've never been a big drinker.. besides soda, of course. But nothing really changed. Finally a few years later, I had it checked out again, and they said it could be poor eyesight straining my eyes. So I got glasses for reading, ect, and the headaches went away for the most part.
But recently, I'd say for a few weeks or so, the headaches are returning. I've had one pretty much every day, at all times. It usually gets worse as the day goes on, and is unbearable at night. I use my glasses, so I don't see how the problem could be my eyes again... right? But I don't know what it is. And I don't think it's normal to get frequent headaches. They aren't migranes, I know that for sure. Just.. strong, painful, recurring headaches.

Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing them? My mom suggested that we go back to the eye doctor, which I very well may do, but... I don't feel like that's what's wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. And hey, while we're at it, MAYBE YOU HAVE SOME CHILLING HEADACHE TALES.

It could simply be stress. I have idiot problems from time to time and get more than just a headache from the goody-bag of annoyances.

Meh... maybe. But I don't view myself as someone's who gets stressed often, and certainly not this badly. If it's a stress headache, then I don't know how to identify with myself whether or not I'm stressed.

I know how you feel. x.x; I've been dealing with headaches for as long as I can remember. Mine are to the point where it's rare to have a day without a headache. Minor headaches aren't as noticeable because the major ones are so bad. lol I found out about a year ago that I have something scary though, so I'm not sure what kind of advice to give you. heheh. =/ I did go through a lot of trouble to find out what was wrong with me though, ruling out what it wasn't, so I might be able to help somewhat.

I've had glasses since I was about.. 9, I think. I have to get new glasses every time I go to see the eye doctor because my eyes keep getting worse. You might want to get your eyes checked again, just to be sure your prescription hasn't changed. ;p I'd try going to the eye doctor first, and telling them that you're having problems with headaches. They have to know basic medical stuff as well as optometrics(lol), so they can probably help you out, even if it's not an eye issue, they can maybe tell you who you should ask, etc.

If it's not an eye problem, finding a solution could be tricky. Do you have any other symptoms, or just the headaches? You said it usually gets worse throughout the day until it's awful at night.. any other noticeable 'variables'? (My cousin used to get headaches a lot when she'd eat certain things, because she's allergic to them. ; Do you do things later on in the day that strain your eyes more? Things like that.) Just think about it. You could try writing down what you're doing throughout the day, when it starts feeling worse, what you're doing at the time, etc., if you're really stuck. If you go to see a doctor about it, they usually ask you stuff like that anyway.. it'll save you an extra trip maybe. And if they don't ask, well.. *shrug* Maybe you can mention it if you notice something definite.

I hope my ramblings help somehow. If you have any questions about what I've said, feel free to ask, of course. xD;

Well my days are pretty basic. I go to school, and usually about 20 minutes into my first class it starts up (not always, just for these past few weeks). It steadily gets worse as the day goes on at school, and when I come home it's not any better. I either stay at home, do homework, come here, ect, or I go to work... just bagging at the grocery store. Nothing that should strain my eyes. I wear my glasses when I do my homework if it involves any kind of reading, and usually at school too. I forget them sometimes, but it's not that big a deal. Whether I wear them or not, the headache is there. So if it is my eyes, then the prescription is wrong. I hope that's the problem then. =\
I can't think of anything that I've eaten every day these last few weeks that I never did in the past. So.. that can't be it. Other variables... I don't know. I can't think of any. Usually a nap/going to sleep for the night helps it, and it's almost always gone when I first wake up.

I didn't know eye prescriptions could change so often and so suddenly... I feel a little better about that now. I'll have to get myself back to the eye doctor and hopefully they can help. If it's something else... blah.

Doesn't eyesight deteriorate slowly when you wear glasses? It could be that your eyes got worse and you now need a stronger prescription for your glasses.

Umm... Nick I think you have got it all wrong. Seeing as I've been wearing glasses since kindergarden. They kept getting worse then slightly better till this year or was it last when I last went to the eye doctor. Well my eyes finally haven't changed so I don't need new glasses. Thank God! Well I also have a stigmatism in my left eye so that's part of why my eyes are so bad. As for the headaches I wouldn't know why you would get them Dani.

Hmmm, maybe it's only for certain types of eye-things. Or maybe I was just completely wrong.

If it was your eyes, the headaches would be gone now because you DID get glasses, right?

My advice to you is to go see a regular doctor. Not just and eye doctor. I donīt think it is the eyes. I donīt know why but I have the feeling it is something else. Sorry if Iīm worrying you.

Hmmm....maybe its something in the air, like dust or something along those lines. I remember about 10-15 years back they did a study with school kids and, I think it was the insulation within the schoools (not 100% sure) and that kids were getting sick/headaches from it. You might want to ask around your school to see if anyone else is having this problem; especially in your first hour class. If anything, it can rule one thing out.

Also, do you have problem with sinus? Or allergies? I tend to get sinus headaches from time to time, but they are not as frequent like other people.

You might want to see an allergiest just in case.

Or, do you get these headache around the time of your period, or a week before? Sometimes I'll get nasty headaches with my period, and other months I'm okay. Its like some messed up random shit.

Anyhoo ~ best of luck trying to figure this out.

I used to have headaches a lot when I was younger, but not anymore.
It's been like 5 years or something that I'm all good... Or get headaches very rarely. Whereas before it was like a big headache once a month or something like that.
Also, I was (and still am, probably) much more likely to get headaches when I didn't have enough sleep... Even though I sleep less than I used to, I think, as I must get up much earlier... But at least I fall asleep much more easily.

Edit: Coincidentally, today's poll at GameFAQs' is about how much sleep you get each night...

Lets see...
Trapster, I have glasses. I've had them for a year or so, just for reading. Since I've had them, the headaches have gone away. But now they're coming back, and pretty damn strong, even with my current glasses. I'm hoping that Nick is right, and I just need a new prescription. I'll have that checked out, and hope it works.

Anya: I don't have allergies at all. None to speak of. And I don't think it's the school's insulation, because I get them on weekends too, or after school... it's anywhere. But it's worth a try to ask around. And hmm... considering the headaches have lasted weeks straight, I can't see how it could be my period. Although that was something I would have constantly overlooked, so thanks.

Stifu: My sleeping habits haven't changed in a very long time... I get about 6-7 hours a night, weekends more. But I get the headaches on weekends as well, when I usually get more sleep. It could be that... I dunno. There's not much I can do about sleep when I have to be at school by 6:30 am

So I'm pretty much living off my bottle of aleve, it seems to make the headaches less piercing. I'm going to the doctor in January for a checkup, so I'll definitely ask her about it then. I'm praying the eye doctor will help me sooner, though.

Ugh, work is going to be crap today.

By the way... Being on the computer or playing consoles may not help, sometimes... I try to stop ASAP when I feel like I'm starting to get a headache while in front of a screen... Like when I need to watch the screen closely, have to focus on something or stuff like that (like when I make sprites and can't always zoom with the software etc).

But yeah, I guess your problem is likely to be sight/glasses related.
