**WARNING: LOT OF SCREENIES **

Yup, this is it. I haven't done one of these in nearly half a year, so I'd like to show everyone the last screenies you will ever see of this hack until it is released - which, I really hope most of you are looking forward to .

I began the very first level of this hack on August 15, 2005 - a.k.a. one year and 3 months ago. I plan to finish this hack in January or February at the absolute latest. I'd especially like to thank the creator of the first ever YI hack - Golden Yoshi - for beta testing this hack throughout for me. Even though he doesn't come here anymore, he is still an exceptional help. Heres to hoping mine can be the SECOND ever YI hack

There will be many people to thank when the time comes, but this is not the time - yet. This is the time to show you all a final compilation of screenshots - ranging from the end of world 1 to world 5. I hope you will take the time to look at each one and reply with an honest thought of the hack.

Now, without further ado...let's begin. Level names appear above pictures.

1-8: Salvo's Revenge

2-1: The Cave of Twilight Terror

2-2: The Nimbus Sprint

2-3: The Haunted Garrison

2-5: Landfall Ho!!

2-6: The Passage to Mt. Stone

2-8: Summit Floral Fortress

3-2: The Cave of Eternal Ice

3-3: Blizzard Valley

3-5: Chomp Country

3-7: The Quarry - Spooky Sprint

3-8: The Rocky Castle of Chance

4-2: Monkeys' Fairground Fun

4-4: Crumbling Aquatic Palace

4-6: The Cave of Jungle Fever

4-8: The Ancient Koopalopolis (sewer was a PITA to make)

5-2: Novaglint Crematory

5-3: The Eternal Palace - Lobby

5-4: The Eternal Palace

5-5: Balloon Barrage

5-6: Poochey and the Egg

5-7: Morpher's Malady

Goody #1: The New Intro, which simply says SNN with a melon, because, as stated 600 times, melons FTW.

Goody #2: Pro-ness of the OW - you may remember the previous world 3 screenie with the new font, icons, text, etc. Meet the new, NEW OW, now with palettes that semi-match the worlds theme. All I can say is, they are pleasant when not moving the cursor

Goody #3: Title Screen - for those who didn't see the thread in June, take a look at the screen. Issues with the brightness of the 2006 have been dealt with.

Goody #4: New Sprites. Finally, littered throughout the hack are variations of the old sprites, and even a new one, called the Mys-Tik (which was only in my avvie for 3 months ) Take a look at the Military Guys, and the Mys-Tik.

----------------------------------------------------------

Phew. As I said, a lot of screenies enclosed, but this will be the last update until the release, so I want to make it as formal as possible. A few of the screenies are repeats from my thread in June - the others have been posted in General Screenie Thread - but not all of you look there.

Guess that's it for now. I'd really like to release this hack soon, so let me know your honest opinions, questions, or concerns on the screenies.

Thank you for being supportive over this last hellish year and 3 months, and I hope to please you all with a fun, challenging hack

Lots of difficult puzzles you really need to think hard about on how to solve right ???

I haven't played the SNES yoshi's island in soo many years...i loved that game though when i was a kid and I beat it a few times.....it's way better than the Yoshi's Story game for N64 at least in my opinion ....but yoshi's story was pretty good game too.

Of course there will be hard puzzles, have no fear of that On a side note, I hated Yoshi's Story...too straightforward and short for me

I'm glad to see all of the positive feedback so far...happy to see people like it, as I had hoped. I'm really hoping a lot of people will play it at its release - I assure you, it will be promising.

  1. Not a particularly interesting screenshot.
  2. Oh, poop.
  3. The background colour is freaky in a good way.
  4. Bah, I hate those one-platform jumps. I that BG though, and the birds are a nice touch.
  5. Looks difficult.
  6. Neat.
  7. This is no place for a nap. Cool, but fireballs in a wet place like this?
  8. Funfunfun.
  9. Each penguin you add to this game makes you win that much more.
  10. It's Alberta! Looks hard.
  11. Neat. Background cutting off right below Yoshi looks a bit odd; a gradient might do well here.
  12. Nice. Flaming Shyguys flying around at random is a pretty funny idea.
  13. Interesting design here. Yay for Tall Guy.
  14. NOT THE MONKEYS... those bastards.
  15. Yow. Getting into the harder stuff now.
  16. Looks good. Is it raining outside?
  17. Interesting light effect. Bet it's a PITA to beat too.
  18. I'm reminded of one of the good parts of Yoshi's Story.
  19. Nice name. Background looks trippy. Hope there's plenty of eggs available.
  20. Neat, but kinda odd that there's stumps floating there.
  21. Nice background. Looks like another pain.
  22. Fun! And pretty colours!
  23. Poochy...
  24. Ouch.
  25. Agreed.
  26. Cool.
  27. Also cool.
  28. I still love those shyguys. Like little FBI agents. If I ever make a YI hack I'm stealing that idea.

Great!
I seem to detect no flaws in the screenshots. I assume this will be a great hack!

On a side note, did you fix that bug in that one castle? You know, when there's that auto scrolling part and you can jump over the wall by taking advantage from the Bandit?

Haha, sweetness. Looks amazingy awesome, I'm gonna have to play this eventually...recently got back into YI hacking myself...(has random swings of it)

ANYWAY...time for in-depth reviewing:

1. Oh, the fire traps. God, do I hate those things.
2. Awww, man...I was gonna do lava-Salvo. *shoots idea*
3. Yikes. Spikes and bricks and egg blocks...good thing that block's there.
4. I loved cloud levels in the original YI...this one looks fun
5. GAH! GHOSTS! *runs* Anyway...I like the coloring of the bricks, actually...
6. Everyone loves the occasional simple level. Spiffyness.
7. Okay, that screenshot looks freakin' awesome. Really awesome. The mist, the fireball, the cave coloring...spiffay.
8. Damnit, a puzzle. Well, that's what YI mainly is, isn't it? I actually love puzzle levels...so...this one will be fun, it seems.
9. *laughs at shy-guys* Anyway...yay for penguins! Bwahahaha!
10. Ah, the snow effect. One of the higher ones on YI that made you curse and go "#$^& I can't see a DAMN THING"
11. Sweet, chomp rocks! Another puzzle level, it seems.
12. DAMNIT, I HAD A LEVEL CALLED THE QUARRY *shoots that idea too* Okay...fire shy guys! RUN!
13. Woah, looks difficult. How do you get that key?
14. I...hate...monkeys. I'm sure you do, too. The true job of any programmer is to piss their players off.
15. No, just...no. That looks...ebil. So evil, it's misspelled.
16. DEMON FLOWER! *pulls out shotgun*
17. Well, I did have an idea for an underground city but it wasn't called "Koopalopolis" so...looks neat though. Sewer levels looked to be a BITCH in Eggvine.
18. Like I said...sewer levels...evil.
19. That one's pretty freakin' cool. It's just cool. 'Nuff said.
20. Okay, Yoshi! Go find the keys! (Yoshi: I HATE YOU ALL)
21. Yay! Kamek shows up! Took him long enough, sloth.
22. Hahaha...looks like a fun level.
23. Oh...dear. That level name makes me cry.
24. *cries*
25. .
26. Hey, that's neat. Pretty awesome.
27. Seen it, but still cool.
28. FBI SHY-GUYS?! OH CRAP!
29. Woah. Looks like the guy from the 7-up commercials.

There you go. Have fun, good luck with world 6, watch for updates on YIR.

Looks...Interesting so far. I don't like the new look of some of the sprites, the originals look far better...

The baloon one isn't that bad though...It's the Mother Duck right?

I like the "Kameks Revenge" in the intro though, that's nice...

Yeah, a while back. I actually semi-revamped that room, as the lack of action in it bothered me

The levels actually follow a sort of climax theme...X-1 is easy, X-2 is tougher, X-3 is hell, and X-4 is bloody hell. Then it calms down a bit, and climbs again. The level you are looking at is X-5

That's the easy part of the level

Did you mean the FBI Shy-Guys? Those, and the one below are really the only two new ones in the screens.

Yeah. I had other intentions for the Mother Duck later in the hack, but eh...that idea got flushed away rather quick

Well, I'm sure it can be done, but I don't intend to do it. I think level icons are sufficient enough for now

Thanks for the positive reviews guys, hoping this can be done ASAP

Looks interesting, I'm really looking forward for it. I hope the game has long levels as the original had, and is twice as difficult to let me entertain for quite a while. Keep up the good work SNN!

My promise to you is that the first level will be longer and harder than the last level of the original

No, but seriously, some of the levels are much longer then the original (wait til you play 5-3, heh) while others may be just as long as the original, but much harder. I can assure you you'll face a large variety of difficulties in the hack

Really really nice! I think every screenshot is great. I definitely welcome a challenge, I just hope you didn't make the levels frustratingly hard. Also, did you keep the same number of "level collect-ables?" Like, did you keep 5 flowers/20 red coins per level? (it was 20 in the original right?) Or did you add/remove some of those?

You know how in the original, if you got 100%, you unlocked those 2 "special stages", which were basically just treasure/bonus rooms. Did you mess with any of that? It would be crazy if you made full levels out of those special stages.

I eagerly await your completed project S.N.N.

Yeah, it is still the 30/5/20 per level. I didn't really feel like messing around with things too much in fear of screwing something up

Actually, in the original YI, one of the stages was a halfass level, the other was a bonus game. I actually did my best to make the half-ass level significantly harder than the rest of the world's levels, and have a theme that follows the world that it is in, but adds a new challenge. Most will not unlock them, as the red coins/flowers are...well, to say it bluntly, damn hard to find later in the hack.

I plan on posting screenies of 5-7 in here and the general project thread soon, so keep your eyes open everyone

I took some time to find the perfect screenie of 5-7: Morpher's Malady. It plays similar to GO! GO! Morphing! in Secret 3 of the GBA version - however, this one is much harder

Note the dusk in the BG .. it can only lead into 5-8

(no, the car is not glitched, it just rolled off the platform above at the wrong angle when I took the screenie )

Yay for Morphing! XD I can't wait. Secret 3 was a hard Secret Level in the GBA remake of YI, so... I hope this level is EVEN HARDER for me (I know you said that it'll be harder than Secret 3, but... Sometimes, hard things are easy for me. ) than Secret 3 was. In fact, the only Secret or Extra level I could never beat was Extra 6. XD Too many spikes. I hope you don't do that in Extra 6, or I'll be sad indeed... Oh, speaking of the Secret Levels, are you planning on adding your own Secret Stages to the hack? I really hope so. They brought more fun into the GBA YI (I like new levels. ). Without them, I wouldn't have had fun with it. I can beat each world in the original with ease.

I can assure you I will put time and effort into the secret stages, especially the ones on Worlds 4 5 and 6. Chances are most people won't have the patience/skill to unlock the Extra levels anyway, but I guess we'll see in time, eh?
