Making passwords more secure: much needed feature to help prevent HA HA I STOLES YOUR PASSWERD, also would remove the requirement of entering passwords if you're logged in ala board2

Useless bullshit: being able to rate each post individually -1 or +1 points and then being able to hide posts under a certain level (ala digg)

I should also mention the first option will have the nasty side effect of forcing you to log in again, so it'd be wise to make sure you know what your password is before voting it.

Not to mention it'd take a looong time and could potentially go very, very wrong.

Making passwords more secure is a more useful and ideal feature than a feature that will assimilate us slightly into the hive of scum and lechery that is digg. And judging by your last post, you seem bent on doing that. (even if that is the truth) There's no need to be more like digg. Ideally, there would be a "neither of those" option in place.

I picked option two, simply because I want to keep the possibility there to steal someone's password from the reply page if the need arises.

There's no need to be more like digg.

It wouldn't be more like digg (I never go there), the feature would just be slightly similar.

It wouldn't normally have an effect on posts, it'd just make a nice stat to say "Man, everyone really does think this guy's a total dumbass".

You make me sad. Nobody ever needs any reason to steal anyone's password. If someone randomly ever starts behaving erratically with posts, behavior and info, then someone either stole their password or they just went insane. But that's never usually the case.

Actually, ideally there would be a "both of those" option in place, but it won't happen.

As it stands, I've voted for option 1.

Timer is exact, my reaction time is not.

I bet you're not. Also, what's that up there? In the banner? It's a... huge pink notice that says UPDATE OVER in more words. Poll's been closed since early last night.

Slashdot predates this type of moderation, kind of. Digg allows everyone to moderate though, while slashdot chooses a person at random.

How secure are the passwords going to be? Adding salt to plaintext? Moving away from MD5? Could be interesting.

I can't see myself using the useless bullshit much- apart from smiting all your posts, X
