Zophar's Domain was a pretty awesome site back in the emulation heyday in 2000-2001.

Of course, past that, SwampGas just kind of sat on it and it rotted away into a never-updated site that was so broken people who wanted to do updates couldn't.

So, here's to the memory of the good days of Zophar's Domain, back when it used to be a good place to get utilities.

RIP Zophar.net 1996-2006

I used to go there quite a bit. I for some reason thought it was interlinked with this board, and I don't remember why.

Hey we need a fresher emulation sites. There's acmlm.org but it really never took off. Though I would have suggestions of XK ever started again.

My main idea would be to not simply leech everything off zophar.net this time. =P

Personally, romhacking.net does it better and currently has more people anyway, so there's no point, really. =\

(that, and a different download system)

I rather see the current acmlm.org evolve than giving up becuse there's other emulation sites.

Though yeah, the leeching off zophar thing gave acmlm.org a very... disorginized feel. :/ If there have to be a archive of zophars files, it should be on a seperate page.

At least Zophar had a rather dull and silent death.

How sad, I really expected Zophar's Domain to last to the end of the Internet. It might not've been the same, but it was a big name and for me at least still held some sway

I used it quite a bit, but when I saw it hadn't been updated in like a year I stopped using it. As of now, the best option for my Emulation and ROM are Torrents (Which allows me to download lots at a time). I wish there was a really good site for resources, though.

I still think we should take up the reigns. With zophar.net gone, I think we could still pick up some of the slackers who still went there.

Eh, it's still sad because they were my introduction to this crazy, mixed-up world of ROHM acking. A little nostalgic, yes, but this isn't about the past, it's about how torrents Fucking Rule.

Egh, this kind of sucks. I was actually going there a lot recently for music files. Guess I'll finally make the switch to acmlm.org.

Also, I'd like to say those years were also fun when Challenge Games was around. Their messageboard was the first one I joined, and from there I learned a ton of stuff about Rom Hacking and even Acmlm's. Dragon Eye Studios was pretty fun, but short lived as well. May they R.I.P as well.

WHY, ZOPHAR.... WHY??

I didn't know this would happen. I've pretty much found everything I ever needed there. I would've never gotten into ROM hacking if I didn't read the tech documents on there. Oh well I guess... Hopefully acmlm.org will suit my needs just as well.

Eh, it sorta stagnated, and I stopped going there for a long time. It's not really so amazing; probably more of a boring thing.

Depressing. All these sort of sites are going away quickly. I was surprised Zophar lasted as long as it did. I remember hearing many times that it had gone away but now it really has.

Sites will just need to step up to overcome its absence. :\

A game music archive (as in a site JUST devoted to music) would be a good start.

I don't understand why that stubborn old bastard still has a death grip on the site's withered husk. It's not like he makes a living off of it, especially with the ZD Store long gone. He could have easily handed the reins over to someone who actually, you know, CARED about the place years ago, before it turned into (even more of) a huge joke. I know for a fact that lots of people were ready and willing to completely revamp the site and bring it into the 21st century.

Hope you enjoy your sad, empty little kingdom, King Sam.

I remember first venturing upon it years ago back when it was the greatest thing I'd seen (but then again, I was probably also saying "whar r the romz?" back then. ) But yes, recently it became really outdated and someone should have taken over to return it to some sort of shadow of its old self, with an obviously greatly updated feel.

Sad thing is that he brought it back up, but he probably won't update it himself.
