This is an argument of semantics here. The fact of it dwells on that the subjective nature of debate will swing what to what end. I mean, none of these really cause debate controversies when they're done with people that are on debate teams or anything on the like. It is your duty to take them on. Debates like these only invoke controversy when one side lets their emotions get too much into it rather than attempting to take a steady objective look at the issue. And really, I'd say that abortion is either a pigeon card for people trying to use it for political opportunism, ideological balderdash or for shrill religious screamathons. |

There is no one "magic topic" which is controversial universally. Furthermore, people can have HUGE controversies about something absolutely ridiculous. Therefore, your original idea has good intentions... but falls flat. I can't really vote on it.  |
