Saddam has been sentenced to hang.

Clicky

The part that gets me is that he had to be found guilty for all those murders.

Edit: I mean, sure he's entitled to a fair trial, but I think it would be pretty obvious that he did it.

It appears the most common reaction is to shoot guns into the air. Whether or not that's good, that's up to you to find out.

As for the news in general... eh. I saw it coming a mile away.

A bullet is just as lethal on it’s way down as it is on it’s way up.

Terminal Velocity

As for Saddam, he's like 70 years old, I doubt he had a lot of years left anyway. I think a more fitting punishment would be to spend those few years in a dirty cell somewhere. This is actually letting him off easy.

I would have preferred this announcement had happened on the 8th though....

They don't care. Here in Des Moines, they sent a 90 year old man back to Germany because they found out he worked as a prison guard during the holocaust.

Now they just need to make sure they don't allow good ol' Saddam to be busted out of prison while he awaits his sentence. Wouldn't that be a mishap if he somehow escaped?

I simply think that handing down the death sentence on him is somewhat ironic. I mean, one of the things that he is being tried for is the mass sentencing of over 150 people to death for breaking his own laws against killing him.

Who cares? the people he killed are still dead. Don't get me wrong, as I'm sure a lot of you know, Saddam(and others who have used religion, Islam in particular, to stir up hatred and division as opposed to bringing people together) is a much hated figure by me and several other Muslims. But, as I also say, there is no happiness in death. This is no victory. There is nothing to celebrate over. There only lies the broken things that we should be fixing.

Perhaps it a ranking of pain....

Injections wouldn't hurt... (except for the needle )

Electric chair..... (Have you seen "Green Mile")

Hanging would suck too, but I think he's getting it easy...

Well I think they're taking him back to Iraq to do it. In Iraq, anything goes.

He hasn't really left. Given he was tried in an Iraqi court and such.

Not so. There's been at least one case of former heroin addicts experiencing severe and terrible pain, and the injection not working on them either. The pain involved probably being extremely horrible.

One cannot quite gloss over execution methods, but, considering the probability that who kills Hussein will also be killed, they should try a firing squad. Then they couldn't tell who fired the deadly shot.

Would be cooler if they use a guillotine (Where they slice the guy's head off), thinking back to old-school death penalties.

All I have to say that I rather see him in a prison rest of his life than getting killed off. He might be seen as martyr if killed off, and dying of natural causes might be a better choice.

I hope Iraq as a democracy stays stable, and as of now it probably needs help from foreign nations to uphold order as the country is quite chaotic. :/ It would be a shame if the democracy there collapsed in a few years.
