I don't think I could name just one artist as my favorite, but I will name only one I really like here.

Count Basie's Every Day I Have The Blues. Talk about swinging Kansas, aww man!

Asking that question of someone who is REALLY into music is going to cause their head to explode trying to narrow it all down to just one! I simply cant do it anymore, I have too many bands I like equally. But I will say that several years ago my favorite artist was Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, and their album Trout Mask Replica was my all time favorite album. It still is, but now it has to share that title with at least a dozen other albums.....

Maybe instead there whould be desert island list of albums you'd take with you?

Eh, yeah. It's too difficult to just choose one artist, because there are a handful that I could listen to forever. I need to think of a music thread that would actually allow people to list everyone they really like, but not in spammy form.

Oh, never thought of that, easy just make plural the nouns "music" "artist" to "musics" "artists"

That should change the subject to "Your favorite musics or artists.

Agreeing with everyone here that I can't name my favorite arist, but I'll just put down what is currently playing on my computer at this instant right now.
Artist: Rise Against
Album: The Sufferer and the Witness
Song: Bricks

And there definately are wrong answers to this question.

Well, I'm going to say Franz Liszt. I hope that's not a wrong answer. And my favorite artist is probably Van Gogh.

Too many favorite music artists.
As for fine arts, I'll have to say MC Escher. I absolutely LOVE his drawings, tesselations and impossible staircases.

Gustaff Klimt certainly is an interesting artist. I'd go on about how the Baroque period was the very height of human expression in all forms of the arts (sans literature) , but I'll save that wind for my tutorial where I have to argue just that point

As for music I can honestly say that some of my favourite musicians that have lasted through my life include John Prine, Frank Zappa, Syd Barret, Bob Seger, and the Beach Boys. After that my current OMG favourite kind of floats around. Right now it is the Japanese band Pizzicato V.

Is Pizzicato V still making music? I have a few CDs of theirs I picked up back in the late 90's (I especially like the Sister Freedom Tapes), but then I got one ep from them which i absolutely hated and stopped checking into them. Did i give up to early?

I'm actually looking for new (hell, even old school music) to listen to. I used to be into music, but for the past...I'd say two years, I haven't. Trying to get back into it starting tonight, hopefully I'll find something.

As for music, I'm usually down for whatever..normally something that fits my mood atm.

Broke up in 2002

addendum: It all really depends on the era of the albums you're picking up. The stuff in the late 90s was definitely good. Even the solo work the vocalist has done following the break up has been most excellent. However, I'm a giant fan of their earliest stuff. The music released aorund the Audrey Hepburn Complex era is absolutely great to listen to. Twiggy, Twiggy and other songs were just bloody gold. Has a nice 60s hipster vibe to it. The later easy listening stuff that they released like "Baby Love Child" is just great to sit down and have a some nice light drinks to and read. I love that tune. Even their club-oriented stuff like En 24 Decembre. Not to discount some of their more epic projects that bore out gigantic 7 minute masterpiece songs (sweet soul revue II). Plus, who can't help but love Tout Va Bien?

In addition to all their great tracks they're backed up by some pretty damned classy music videos. A quick search on YouTube yields great results that are fun to watch.

edit: I'll throw out a bone here. Futurama fans rejoice. http://youtube.com/watch?v=LgpIkvl6hUU

If you see it in my sigx thingy, I probably like it. I don't go so much by anything regarding music, if I like it it's there. I might also try expanding that a bit with other stuff from the same artist/genre, but it's entirely possible that I dislike everything else from the very same guy .

Ramones.

I can always listen to the Ramones no matter what mood I'm in. Any song works. It's the kind of music that just makes you want to shout in someone's face without being pissed off.

Other favorites are AC/DC or the Misfists.

Plus Sign - I'll go check out more of their early stuff one of these days. I do really like the song "Twiggy", which i have on the "Made In USA" CD. I got the ep "Combination spaceile" (not sure on the spelling) and really disliked every song on it, which slowed down my P5 collecting dramatically. I've never seen any of their videos, because i dont watch videos in general

ibz10g - I also love the Misfits!

yea I know that is a strange combination, Misfits and Pizzicato 5...

My pick for my favorite band/album today is Japonize Elephants - "From Zorlock, Land Of The Lost".... Psychedelic blue-grass music at its best

I'd have to say either Finger Eleven or KoRn.

My fav song from Finger Eleven would have to Suffocate (esp. when im feeling down) of their second official album "The Greyest Of Blue Skies". My fav KoRn song would be Thoughtless (for when im feeling angry or frustrated).

Ohhh... Too many to think about... Murderdolls! Murderdolls, Marilyn Manson, and Slipknot! I love Murderdolls White Wedding remix and Slpknot "Surfacing". (I even got a Surfacing FLCL AMV on my xanga). Almost everythin from Manson I like. (He loves those 80's music)
