What a great idea about splitting this thread, unfortunately this board doesn't have quite so extensive of a moderation system
The other part of your post... People have been able to sign their own code just as Nintendo does and run it through the NDS' SLOT-1 since January 2006 (commercial derivatives like Max Media Launcher have been around since about May). No BIOS or firmware bugs (like what PassMe 1 and 2 rely on) needed. And no, I don't know what you're talking about network issues between Phantasy Star and A PC, what article, and are you even talking about the NDS? (edited by FreeDOS + on 11-03-06 06:35 PM) |

He isn't. Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 & 2 was used for GCN homebrew for quite a while.

It's "c00l" news for me. Anyway, it's far away from what the PS2 disks piracy became. About the NDS, I know very little about this system. I won't slip off-topic again.

Of course, Nintendo still wins with the Gamecube protection through this. Piracy for the cube is now approaching usefulness at the end of the console's life. In other words, it's not really going to hurt Nintendo that much if Joe and Bob out there can suddenly start pirating to their heart's content once the Wii's been released.
Originally posted by Hyperhacker Indeed. It will be hacked. The real question is when it will be easy for Joe Blow to go out there and do it. |

Well there's two questions: When it'll be easy, and when it'll be useable for piracy. Ideally, as in the case of Gamecube, the former comes soon after launch while the latter takes a while. Nintendo doesn't seem to care about homebrewers but once pirates start exploiting the holes, they get patched and homebrewers get locked out too.
Or barring that, the Nintendo DS scenario (no way to patch the hole because there is none) is nice, but it allows for piracy. And yay offtopicness. (edited by HyperHacker on 11-05-06 02:54 AM) |
