I actually had that feeling when I started playing this game. I agree that the battle system takes time to get used to but I like it a LOT more. Oh yeah, Team Toxic FTW.

...plus the camera angle and movement takes a bit to get used to as well, it seems.

I'm used to the camera angle and movement thanks to Capcom's Monster Hunter. pity I cannot read any of the Japanese language yet as I do have the second one.

Comes out on Halloween. Your store might very well be doing a midnight release the night of 10/30.

For me, this game is just proof that new Final Fantasy games are redundant. They should concentrate of OTHER things then Final Fantasy. I played it. I hated it. I never played it again. (Just like FF 9 and 10)

Halloween eh? Then how come I have a perfectly good internal release sitting in my PS2 right now? Full english btw. I love Square-Enix employees who release games to the internet.

You know, if you people hate the game so much, but already own in, I'll buy at a reduced price!

Moreso if you have the Special Edition,

I think Square should concentrate on some of its other work, like Kingdom Hearts or Crystal Chronicles. Or, heaven forbid, another Tactics game. Maybe an extension on one of their lesser-known serieses? Or a decent revival of the SaGa games...

Maybe, since they've merged with Enix, the two should combine their skills and make a completely new franchise... Considering how popular and influential both Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy are, a combination of the two styles of RPG would be interesting to see.

They are making a Crystal Chronicles for the Wii and the DS. (Just to let you know.)
Like I said earlier, They should make another Chrono game. Seriously, how can something that's "Final" have over 10 sequels?

That and for the love of god a GOOD Mana game perhaps? I can't say any of the Mana games come even close to how incredible Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 were.

But yeah, seems like my Gamestop is doing a midnight release on this. Sounds like a DS party with my friends.

Guy that I work with had the game about two weeks before the release, English version as well.

Now that I'm about 15 hours into it, I like the battle system, and I can notice some of the changes (although small) from the DQ demo. Think I'm gonna waste some time after work tonight ti just lvl up a bit.

Damn! beat me to it!

I am really curious to see how this game plays considering I have been hearing nothing but good things since it came out as opposed to all the skepticism about it before.

I've seen the battles before but I need some clarifying here; where do battles end? Which begs the most important question of all; they didn't get rid of the signature victory fanfare, did they?

For the longest time, I wished there was a way to turn on english subtitles in this game mainly so I could hear the Love Cook do the voice of Balthier, but I know that's obviously not happening. And I hope they eventually put in a black haired non-androgynous protagonist with some real character in one of the future installments.(Zidane was close)

The game play is pretty simple; however, enjoyable. I've played 16 hours in the last three days.

The story so far isn't anything awesome, it's entertaining, but I'm not being drawn in and often find myself not paying attention to cut scenes.

Fanfare music still exists though, after you kill bosses and such.

The idea of gambits playing the game for you is also incredibly over exaggerated. I'm sure there is a way to allow it, but you have the option to switch it to wait mode and it plays like other FF games. Gambits are useful if you want to level and not pay attention though.

Boss fights usually require quite a bit of concentration and can be challenging. They're pretty fun though and sometimes it gets the heart pumping.

With Quickenings, you can usually one-shot some things though, at the cost of all your MP, so it's either a hit or miss thing, and if you miss, you might very well die.

Heh, here's a good place to have my first post in 30 some days.

Truth is, I liked the demo and the game. I love it actually. I really haven't found anything I hate. I like the battles, the story and the way everything is controlled. I can't quite get into the story as well as I could in some other games. Final Fantasy X is the game I got into the story line. I love the game still. I haven't really gotten bored of it in any way.

Well, happy gaming!
