So Elizabeth Hasselbeck, resident creationist wingnut ( ) on The View, seems to be displeased with the producers and writers of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Why? Well, it seems one episode featured someone named Elizabeth Hassenback getting raped and murdered. Now, the show's known for ripping its storylines (off) from the headlines, but as I haven't seen the show (I prefer L&O Classic) I don't know if there was supposed to be any connection. According to the linked article, the producers have to clear all character names through the legal department.
Still, does she have a case? Is the use a name similar to someone famous's name attacking the celeb? Or is she just being an idiot? I REPORT, YOU DECIDE. |

| Her existence on The View makes her less credible to start with, and the fact that it is not the exact name goes even a step further in making her look loony. She's just helping further those stereotypes that movie/TV stars a lot of whining idiots by even saying one damn word about this. She sounds like a typical bitchy woman who thinks she's been wronged but is absolutely off-base, as the show can use whatever names it wants IMO. I wouldn't even care if it were her exact name used. It is fiction, after all. | |||

| I don't think she has a case. It's nearly impossible to make a plausible sounding name without it being close to a real name. Even if it was the exact name, there are probably at least half a dozen other Elizabeth Hasselbeck's in the world. It doesn't have to be related to her at all. | |||

What is Hassenback? German? Elizabeth isn't that odd a name, and if something like Hassenback is the equivalent of a "Smith", than yeah, it's just her problem. I myself live in the same floor of my dorm with someone who has my exact name, but I acknowledge that we're different people.  |
