The first rule about the game is that you cannot talk about the game.

...or maybe that was Fight Club.

Never watched it. So I can freely just say "WTF" and move on after looking at this thread.

That's actually a semi-good representation of the second rule, which is "Whenever you think about The Game, you lose."

The first is "You are playing The Game."

The third is "Loss must be announced." Seeing as I lost by making this post, I lose

Oh, this. I remember this shit, it got old months ago after all the funny ways to trick someone into losing came up (particularly: EA Sports: It's in...), as well as stories involving it. One involved someone who had a roommate who was seriously playing the game. The guy set his alarm clock to play HHH's theme (from the WWE) when it went off in the morning. Genius.

And besides, what if you "break the rules" by not announcing loss? What are "they" going to do, eject you from the game? HA!

Rule three can be broken. It's really more of a guideline then a rule.

And fuck, you made me lose again.

This is all going over my head. *_*

I'm just going to assume that at least more than one of you knows what's going on.

If you honestly can't figure out what's going on and honestly want to know, the wikipedia article should clear things up for you.

I lose... Maybe, I'm not sure if it counts...

I started this at my school for a while, and quite a few people confessed that they thought about it by just seeing me. Counting how many people I told about it though... I lost quite a bit.

*blink*

It must really be "an anti-memory game" since I don't even know what it is without reading the article.

The Game: to remember you are playing the game means to lose the game.

In short, the only way to win is to forget you're playing the game and never remember it.

Though I don't play the game.

Ugh... I've played that. It's weird. I try to stick to more sensible things like Mao and speaking Food Tongue.

But you would lose the game anytime you told someone since you'd have to think about what the rules were, thus thinking about The Game making it a self started paradox.

"The Game has no set rule defining a "winning" player, but participants can measure their performance by comparing how often they lose relative to their opponents. Thus, strategy in these games consists of attempts to make one's opponents lose while minimizing one's personal losses."

I understood that as "You cannot win unless you forget about the game", but then you'd never realize you've won unless you lose by realizing it.

So, I can't consider it a game because there aren't winners. Can I say "It's not a game, it's a toy" like in the other thread?

Edit: @Alastor the Stylish: :'(
