Is there such a thing as a soul, an intrinsic part of what makes you *you* that may or may not last even beyond death? Is there any difference between a human soul and an animal soul? How about a human identity and a sufficently intelligent machine? Is there more to sentience than really well organized synaptic static? Are we more than just amusingly complex, self-perpetuating chemical reactions?

I see sentience itself as a gift. I go that far. I'm not having a firm belife about souls. I don't belive that everything is set in stone, I belive there's a such thing as free will.

However, I'm wondering... if souls existed would they be immortal or maybe fragile like the human body? Technology as we have created so far only have slightly hinted at them existing, in a way that it could as well be random static.

Sometimes I go and wonder if the goal for humans is evolving to a higher level... but why I can't give a clear answer on.

And before someone compares us to computers, keeps in mind that computers are nothing but stupid machines who does simple instructions in a certain order... just alot of them.

I say no, we're nothing more than amusing complex chemical reactions. But that's just my 0.1 cents. Which doesn't get you anywhere except on taxes.

I think there is such a thing as a soul and that the soul leaves the body when you die and enters the next available vessel.

While I am loath to believe in too much of a higher power, I do believe there is another realm, and that people's souls tend to go back and forth between there and here. I have no proof, or at least, none which people would understand, except for the fact that if death was a ceasing of conciousness, you would not feel it, and thus, logically, things would loop back either to your first such consiousness or to some sort of reincarnation.

That said, I have some strange memories and ideas which don't belong in this era, and definately mark me as being different, if not somehow from the past. Of note, wearing fashions from the 70's and even 40's in preference to many of those today, not to mention a dislike for modern stoves, dryers, washing machines, and other such things.

While it probably isn't as magical as some people would say it is, I doubt death would be the end; not because that'd be horrible, either, but because life just isn't that way. It'd be uncharacteristically nice for it to let someone have even a semi-permanent rest from its attacks and challenges. I just don't see it giving everyone a permanent break after violenting beating them to their death.

I've been thinking about this for a while.

If people's souls are recycled, what happens as the population goes up? Where do their souls come from?

I believe that death is final and there is no soul.

I honestly don't know what to believe. I don't want to believe this is true, but apparently there is an unexplained loss of mass as a human passes away. Aside from other human processes, the body looses 21 grams of mass upon death, whereas the animal bodies did not. It really makes you wonder.

Well I happen to be one of those indifferent people who really don't care unless it affects them at the present. Since no one really knows then how about we all just believe what we want to believe? I've had enough deep thought lately and don't feel like thinking too much on life and death. As well was what happens when you die. Personally, if death was the end of it. I'd be pretty happy with just that given my current circumstances.

At this moment your soul is telling your outer shell to read this.

3 minutes ago, it was telling the shell to do something else.

Tomorrow could bring death. In which case the shell is broken and whatever challenges lie ahead in the afterlife are faced by the immature soul alone.

The meaning of life is to live and learn. Like there was anything else.

Sure we've got to live and learn however I think that if you think too long on things like souls and life then you are gonna be burned out before you know it.
