well, i havent been around acmlms or worked on my hack for a while. been doing other things. anyways, i was wondering if a simple question could be answered. is there anyway to put the status bar on another layer, so i can use different pallettes? | |||

Uh, well
The short answer would be no. The long answer... Putting it on layer 1 wouldn't work, because then it would be part of the background. Putting it on layer 2 would sort of work, if you didn't want to use layer 2 for anything else Putting it on layer 4 would work, if you rewrote the entire game to be layer 4 compatible Putting it on the sprite layer would work, if you made all the custom sprites for it, which would of course lower the number of sprites you could use in the actual levels. Either way, it would require a metric fuckton of ASM work. So, again, no. |

well, i was talking about the actual color # in the palette (see attatchment)
i dont remember where, but i heard that the status bar editor program didnt change what palette it was on, but what color #s it uses. but thats for EVERY LEVEL. i was asking if i could change it on a per level basis (ex. level 1 uses palette 0, colors 1-4; level 2 uses palette 0, colors 5-8, etc.) |

I think you could somewhat easily, but that would take a bit of work still.
But realistically, you're going to need 2 palettes for layer 3's gfx no matter which palette #s you use, so the best thing to do is just to leave them alone and just not overwrite those colors for gfx used by layer 1 & 2. Also if you don't need both palettes (considered 8 palettes for layer 3 since every 4 colros is a palette because layer 3 uses 2bpp gfx), then change which palette # some of the tiles use and move everything to one palette line.
