DR_Death16: I don't think it's so much as he did nothing as he was not trying to betray a friends trust. We all have secrets, and we all carry the secrets of friendship, experiences we go through sometimes just don't make it onto the dinner table, you know? It may have been wrong, if you're looking for someone else to blame other than Mr. Foley himself, but I would never, in my wildest dreams, betray my best friend. Not ever.

Um, if your friend is abusing children, then yes, you should turn them in. If someone I was closed to did that I wouldn't even think twice, especially if I had told them to stop and they didn't. Definitely negligence in the eyes ifthe law at least.

I won't go into any personal attacks, but being a friend is pretty much all you can do for some people. If your friend smokes pot, you're gonna call the cops? If not, you'd still call them in for this? What kind of hypocrisy is that?

There are many differences in the circumstances. For one, I don't think pot should be illegal and if you smoke it you're not hurting others (well, no more than if you drink or smoke cigarettes). If you're doing what Foley was doing to those pages you are really screwing up people's lives. Stuff like that can really screw up a kid. Especially if Foley had been told to stop and didn't. I understand the loyalty of friends, but for me it stops when you're messing up other people's lives in such an agregious way as Foley was.

It is easy to say such things as an outsider, but as is many an example in war, you weren't there. Things were done and kept a secret out of loyalty and in all honesty, I personally would rather not know than cast a judgement on Foley.
