Mostly on the edges in the rocks, fooling with where to put the highlight, to make it seem very sharp, it turns out close to a shadowed edge works great. same thing on the J, the rest is scribbles, but I also tried the technique abit on the hair on the bottom-left portrait.

using 16 colors I attempted to make something look quite realistic, as far as colors and shapes, I'm not too sure I met my goal, but it looks kinda nifty

The rocks are quite sharp-looking, and pleasing (without having to zoom in on them.)

The second image looks freaking great. At first, I couldn't tell it was 16 colors, since it looked like less (until I zoomed in.)

The second image looks good, but it was freaking me out for a bit -- it took me a while to work out why -- there's no eyelashes or eyebrow. I'd like to see how it looks with both -- at the moment the eye kinda weirds me out without it. It looks good in a way that unnerves me...

It's staring into your soul.

And yeah, no eyelashes, eyebrow, nose, hair, anything other than a few lines in there. It should be easy to tell what was worked on and what wasn't, just an experiment to see what looks good and what doesn't.

Didn't its parents tell it not to be nosey?

I wouldn't even know where to begin putting eyelashes on in the first place with regards to pixel art... considering how fine eyelashes can often be...
