Have you noticed that the newer mario titles are going back to the original sound from the original Mario games?
Like on NSMB, the pipes, coins, and turtle bump noises are like SMB1 and also the item sounds, as opposed to like SMW SFX, and such... ...but personally I like it that way, it gives it a more "Mario-ish" feel to the games... ...has anyone noticed this? |

I noticed it when I first played the game.
And let's not forget the SMB1 goal music that you hear if you beat a level in NSMB with the last two digits in the timer are the same. |

Most of the SMW sounds were kind of weak lifeless compared to the originals. It's the same with Sonic, a lot of sounds are sampled from their original FM incarnations. They are just too defining to be replaced by anything else.

I wouldn't have it any other way. When you make something perfect, why change it? One of the many reasons why I hate the Sonic Advance series.

Seems other places too like the classic Mario sounds. There's a radio station here that always plays the coin sound and 1-up sound from SMB3. I like the sounds, but they over do it.

It took me a decade to notice All-Stars and therefore it's GBA offshoots had SMW sound effects, they seem out of place being spliced into the older games. |
