It's pretty clean, but I do find myself wondering where the hell I put some things.

I can find what I need after a fair bit of digging.

Thank God for search functions.

My filenames mean nothing. It's easier to replace a file than to find it.   0.0%, 0 vote

For the most part it's decently organized, mostly my games folder, but I have issues with My Pictures (currently I extract screenshots, ripped backgrounds from Rockman ZX, random sprites and other things of interest to a folder named "New Folder", while My Pictures is reserved for actual photos). The Super Nintendo folder is a complete disaster, with incomplete copies of itself within it

ROMs are in the first "layer", while SMW hacks are relegated to the last, so it looks like this:

Super Nintendo(ROMs) ->Super Nintendo(Random shit and some old hacks) ->Juegos Comprimidos(SMW hacks)

And don't get me started on My Documents

Without the search function, all would be lost...

Literally lost.

My compy's so messed up, I tried this thing where I moved all the important stuff to C:/1, but there's so much I have no idea how to organize. Is there anyway to get Windows to recognize a different directory as the desktop, so I don't have to work backwards? I want my desktop to be a nearly top directory.

Option 1.

Aside from some odd ball files that are wandering around I have folders, categories, subcategories, etc..

3rd option for me.

I have some general organization, but... if I ever need to find a specific file that I don't use often, I usually hve to dig around or just search. I have 2 or 3 folders that are designated "crap" folders, that I really should clean up... eh.

But it's not like a disaster area or anything.

I don't know where half of my stuff is anymore. Sure, I have a few folders for stuff that I care about like MP3 files or ROMs but for the rest of the crap I download, I put it in some random folder and eventually forget where I placed it.

Mostly option two. I'm fairly organized, though I somewhat have a redundant ~. Instead of having stuff just plain in ~, I put most 'permanent' things in ~/Stuff -- more temporary things or non-global binaries go someplace else; maybe ~/source for compiling and ~/bin for non-global binaries.

The fifth option doesn't seem like a state of organization per se, I don't know what half my crap is anymore, but it's still there in neat little directories. Sometimes I do some cleaning, but rarely do I delete things that I don't remember.

1 full 2.5GB HD and 1 not-so-full 17.34GB (read as only 7GB ) =

Mess. Try two program files folder, my documents folders split between C:\ and D:\backups\, half my work is in the backups folder... eh, it's crazier than the fourth of july fireworks wiring.

I'm pretty organized, but it's hard to keep track of 7123 GB of data. Yeah, that's almost 7 Terabytes, don't ask...
