Due to the fact that the old thread got long enough, I decided to start a new thread so that the old one doesn't get even more cramped. If you would, moderators, consider this a checkpoint thread and lock the old "Group hack, anyone?" thread.

Anyway, I have emailed most of my staff the ips patch and save data. Terry, since your email wasn't shown anywhere, I wasn't able to email you the patch. Please send me your email so I can send you the patch. Anyone else who didn't get the patch, please tell me, and I'll try to resend it.
Although the demo release date is yet to be confirmed, my mini-website is quite ready. Ladies an gentlemen, may I present to you the incomplete site of Mario and Luigi: The Great Exodus. Some of the pages are missing, but I'll include them soon. In the meantime, search around. SK26, update your bookmarks.

Discuss.

Well, I took a peek at some of the screens. I don't know how much graphics editing you have done so far, but the huge wall of BG pipes doesn't look that great. The reason is that the BG pipes are the same exact tile and there are no nuances in them at all. I suggest that the person in charge of gfx editing make better BG tiles for that. Other than that, there appears to be plenty of action in those screens. There appears to be a whole bunch of bullet shooters in the cave level, I hope all of them don't shoot bullets, that would be a tad too tough.

That's a very underconstructed site. Please finish it before you show us anything. I don't see anything interesting so far. Keep at it.

Comments on screens: To be totally honest with you guys, the levels doesn't look like they had a lot of thought put into them. Although the castle looks pretty nice
BW: Yeah, I mean to update my site, it'll be done soon

Is that a blue sailboat in your overworld!?
If so, that's about the only thing I like about your hack.

I would love to get in on this. Havn't hacked SMW in ages, but I know a thing or two about level design and gfx editing (But if I were to be asked to join, dont put me in charge of this...I dispise it even though I can do it.)

I'm just gonna say one thing:

I'm done. I made your overworld and thats all im doing.

Seriously, some of your 'new' gfx look very poor.

I notaced you made the Yoshi house gfx into ome ship. and on top of thet, you made my need-switchs-to-get-to-bowsers-world-level posable (yes, i beat it with a cape and no switches). Also, the end of the level went from the entrance to bowsers world to some whale looking thing.

You editid the cute lil ball gomba to a freeky mutant nail shape.

You edited the gray cement block and now, poo looks better than it.

I'm now out.

All in all, I know the answer to why other group hacks have failed.

1) The director of the operation shall be over worked making sure every single level is made and inserted to individual levels, as well as all the submaps. If even ONE of the levels are not made, they have to look everywhere in the game for the mistake.

2)Exgfx. the director has to set them all up from every hack in a specific order. while remembering the order and having to set the exgfx to the proper levels and every level that needs them.

3) Pallettes. Same as the exgfx but slightly easier. even so, it'll take up alot of file space for every single pallete.

If you dont pull everything together and make a list of wich levels who will make and wiether or not exgfx and pallete changes are made, your gonna fail.

And still your 1st world levels are a mix of easy and hard...

World one should pretty much always be as childeshly easy as the original super mario world's average difficulty. it will then get gradually harder until you finish bowsers world. at that point you have a choice for and 'extra' world. this world should be FREEKISHLY IMPOSSABLY hard. you have those two boundrys to go between. if there is no 'extra' world, then bowsers world should be very hard, his castle a big hard maze, preferably not a smw split-path clone.

Thats my 20 cents

Ow. ;

Man, that was a ton more criticism than I expected. Well, I first want to say, I'm sorry for the terrible quality of my hack. I haven't done hacking in an extremely long time, and this is my only hack that's ever been announced in public.

No, they won't. Instead of Bullet Bill shooters, I put in a Bullet Bill Generator. This might have made a little too easy (or not), but I could probably put in a harder version of the level somewhere else, too. I probably don't to do that, though, for originality purposes.
As for the bg pipes, I'll replace them with something more sight-worthy.

Sorry. I'll put in more tomorrow.

Well, actually...
no. It was supposed to be a blue cave, but, well... I guess I suck at gfx.

Technically, we don't. It would be very useful, but it isn't vital. Don't fret, though, I'll organize this exgfx thing soon enough.

Well, there's still time. If you want to be in, you're in. ZTaimat has officially quit, and I apparently can't do crap a gfx's worth, so be my guest.

To ZTaimat
Switch Level: Hey, sorry. The only reason I editted your level was because it seemed too plain (and the level forced the player to die if he didn't have all of the switches). I did my best to make you couldn't cheat through the level. Plus, I don't know how you could do that. If you want, I'll replace my level with yours.
New Goomba: Freaky mutant nail?? The new goomba is supposed to look like the one from SMB3, except not facing the screen. Tell me how this looks like a nail.
New Block: Explain.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the way this hack is turning out. I promise to get things more organized very soon.

the new bad looking goomba looks kind of like a nail with an orange body and the head curled down

As for the new grey block, it looks WAY too plain. the old one was better because it didn't look flat.

Don't worry. I'm not giving up unless everyone else gives up.

Anyway, I didn't have time to update my mini-website, but I'll have that updated in about fifteen minutes.
Also, I just thought of something: for each group in this hack, I have group directors, correct? Why not add a quality controller in each group? For example, in the gfx section, all the gfx editors can send their gfx to the quality controller of that group, and he can improve on those graphics. As some of you may guess, I am not going to be a quality controller. After the critique I got, I'm quite sure that I'll only make a monstrosity of things. _¬

Jeez, since when did ZTaimat turn into an asshole lol. First of all, this goes to ZTaimat, the goomba's are actually well done. You don't know shit! I'd like to see you do better. You got good comments for your overworld, that doesn't mean you are master at hacking the damn game and it doesn't mean you're better than everyone else working on the hack. I respect your time and effort you put into the hack but you are still a damn n00b!

I can see that the hack is suffering a bit. Don't give up guys. I have a few levels which I'll submit soon
